Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off-Chapter 430: Mommy’s Bath Is Scarier Than Monsters
Just as Xiao Er slowly took another careful step backward toward the cave entrance, a small chubby finger suddenly pointed at him.
Xiao San’s loud voice echoed through the cave like a trumpet. "Brother! Running!"
Xiao Er froze instantly. His body stiffened and his little tiger ears stood straight up as if lightning had struck him. Slowly, very slowly, he turned his head toward Xiao San.
Their eyes met. Xiao San’s face looked bright and innocent, but Xiao Er’s round green eyes were full of disbelief. For a moment, the entire cave fell into complete silence.
Then suddenly, a large shadow covered him from behind. Before Xiao Er could react, a big hand grabbed the back of his neck and lifted him easily into the air.
"Got you," Hu Yan said calmly.
Xiao Er dangled helplessly like a fluffy carrot, his four paws hanging uselessly. His brain completely stopped working as his body swayed in midair.
"Where are you running, little brat?" Hu Yan asked with amusement while carrying him toward the water tub prepared for bathing the muddy cubs.
Still hanging in the air, Xiao Er slowly turned his head and looked at Xiao San. His eyes widened with deep shock, and his tiny lips trembled with pure betrayal.
But Xiao San simply sat comfortably in Xuan Long’s lap and smiled brightly at him, looking extremely pleased with himself.
Hmph! He still clearly remembered how these two brothers despised him for not having fur.
Now look at them. Let’s see if their precious fur can survive today’s terrifying scrubbing session.
Xiao San proudly folded his tiny arms and watched with satisfaction as Xiao Er was carried directly toward the water tub.
Splash! Hu Yan dropped Xiao Er straight into the clean water without any warning. At the same time, Shi Feng lifted the freshly washed Xiao Yi in his arms.
Xiao Yi looked completely different now. His orange fur could even rival Su Qinglan’s hair, shining brightly and smelling clean, though his face still showed the deep trauma of his recent bath.
Tak!
"Ow!" Xiao San cried out softly, rubbing his head while looking up at his father Xuan Long with a confused expression. Why did you hit me?
Xuan Long lowered his emerald green eyes and looked calmly at his small son sitting in his arms. After observing him for a moment, he spoke slowly.
"So young but already so scheming."
Xiao San blinked in shock. Scheming? His eyes widened as he stared at his father, clearly stunned by such an accusation.
His little mouth opened as if he wanted to argue back immediately. "Not scheming like you!"
But before he could protest, Su Qinglan’s voice suddenly rang out from beside the bathing tub.
"What scheming?" she asked while turning her head to look directly at Xiao San.
"My Xiao San is a good mama’s boy," she said warmly with a gentle smile.
"He understands how important it is to bathe and wash the dirt away properly," she added proudly.
Xuan Long looked at her quietly for a moment. Then his usually cold expression softened instantly into a warm and doting gaze.
"Hm," he agreed without hesitation. Whatever his Lan Lan said was naturally correct.
Hearing this, Xiao San’s eyes immediately lit up with excitement. He puffed out his tiny chest proudly.
"See! I am Mommy’s boy!" he declared triumphantly while looking proudly at his father.
But suddenly a miserable howl exploded loudly through the cave.
"A WOOOOOO!"
Xiao San jumped in fright and quickly turned his head toward the source of the terrifying sound.
Inside the bathing tub, Xiao Er was being firmly held by Hu Yan while Su Qinglan scrubbed his fur with frightening determination.
"Stay still!" she ordered strictly. "Where have you been playing to become this dirty?"
Scrub! Scrub! Scrub! The water instantly turned gray again as the mud washed away from Xiao Er’s fur.
Xiao Er’s fluffy face twisted miserably as he screamed loudly at the top of his lungs.
"A WOOOOOO!"
His paws flailed helplessly in the air while his ears flattened tightly against his head. His entire soul looked as if it had already left his tiny body.
Watching this terrifying scene unfold before him, Xiao San slowly shrank deeper into Xuan Long’s protective arms.
He swallowed nervously. Mommy would not clean him like that, right?
After all, he never rolled in mud like his silly brothers.
He always kept his beautiful snake scales perfectly clean.
Right?
Right?
"Xiao Er, stop wiggling!" Su Qinglan commanded, her face flushed from the steam and the effort.
"You have a whole forest’s worth of pine needles stuck in your tail! Do you want to go to the Merman feast looking like a walking bush?"
Xiao Er’s eyes were squeezed shut, his little mouth open in a silent scream of despair. He looked like a wet rag being wrung out.
Hu Yan was laughing so hard he had to lean against the wall for support.
"Look at them," Hu Yan wheezed, pointing at the two soggy tigers. "They look like two skinny rats now that the fluff is gone. Is this the ’mighty’ Tiger Tribe’s future?"
Shi Feng was busy drying Xiao Yi with a soft, warm animal skin. Xiao Yi was sitting there, his fur puffed out like a dandelion, staring into space with a thousand yard stare.
He had seen things. He had felt the "power of the mother’s bath." He did not even have the energy to bite Shi Feng’s hand anymore.
Su Qinglan finally finished. She stood up, wiped the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand, and looked at the muddy water in the tub with a satisfied nod.
"There. Clean as new."
She turned her gaze slowly toward Xiao San, who was still hiding in Xuan Long’s arms.
"Now... Xiao San," she said, her voice dropping into a sweet, gentle tone that sent shivers down the baby’s spine.
"Even though you do not have fur to trap the mud, we still need to make sure your skin is soft and clean for the feast. Come to Mommy."
Xiao San’s eyes widened. He looked up at Xuan Long, his little hands gripping his father’s chest. "Father, save me!" his eyes pleaded.
But Xuan Long, the man who was supposed to be the most powerful predator, just gave him a light pat on the bottom and handed him over without a second thought. "Go. Your mother is right. A cub of the Snake Tribe must be spotless."
Traitor! Xiao San thought as he was lowered into the warm water. See! If I do not abandon you when you become old.
