363 Unfazed

Marcella’s ego couldn’t handle how someone who should be her prey and nothing more was threatening her with her life.

And instead of trying to fix what had already been broken, she snarled like a crazed sadist, “Do you think I will let you get away unharmed?”

“I know so,” Anastasia looked over her shoulder and said in a cold tone. If this threat came at any other time, Anastasia would have been scared or even terrified. However, right now, she was unfazed by that threat.

Marcella scoffed and pulled the corner of her upper lip in disdain. A desire to prove Anastasia wrong rose in her head. And in the blink of an eye, she went and stood in front of Anastasia and Tilla, blocking their path.

“Well…” Marcella glared at Anastasia through her brows and then bared her fangs at once. She hissed and coldly said, “I hate to break it to you that you are wrong. I don’t care if you are the Queen. You’re still a human, meaning you’re supposed to be my food.”

Anastasia scoffed and shook her head. “Sure, go ahead. Drink away,” she said in a rather challenging tone. She herself was surprised by how she was still very calm at a moment like this.

“I don’t need your permission to do so because I have already decided to drain every drop of your blood.” Marcella licked her lips and glared at the Queen’s neck as if she was ready to pounce on her prey.

Marcella was about to close the little distance between her and the Queen when Tilla jumped down and grabbed Marcella’s feet with both of her hands.

And she pleaded, “Please don’t do this. Spare the Queen. You have a problem with me. So, you can do anything to me but please, let the Queen go.”

.....

“Oh, now I have a problem with both of you.” Marcella snarled in anger and kicked Tilla right in the gut.

Tilla was thrown away with such great force that she flew and landed on the ground with a loud thud. “Arghhhhhh!” she instantly let out a muffled scream and turned to lay down on her side in a fetal position. She was sure that something in her had broken because of the extreme pain she was going through.

The rage that had already subsided in Anastasia’s heart flared up again when she saw Tilla holding her back and writhing in pain.

Anastasia glared back at Marcella with bloodshot damp eyes and said brusquely, “I wasn’t so sure about taking your life until now. But now, you’ve given me a good reason to believe that you are beyond salvation.”

She spat on the ground and further said in a threatening tone, “I hope you have lived a good life. If you haven’t… better luck next time.”

Anastasia boldly turned her back on Marcella so that she could help Tilla up from the ground. However, the moment she did, she felt Marcella grabbing her hair and tugging her.

Marcella made Anastasia face her and snarled right in front of her face, “Do you think you should still threaten me when you should already be begging me for your life?”

Anastasia gave a death glare to Marcella and spit facts, “And do you think you will still get out alive if you put a single scratch on me? Even if you kill me right here and escape from the castle, Caspian will find you and will make sure that you go through hell before killing you.”

Anastasia could finally see a hint of fear lurk in those predatory eyes.

However, Marcella, having her ego as a ‘superior’ being hurt by the hands of the ‘inferior’ being, blabbered in angst, “Even if I let you live, it’s already clear that I will be killed. So, I better commit the crime for real.”

Anastasia saw Marcella widen her mouth. Those sharp fangs elongated even more, and the grip on her hair was even tighter. With one swift motion from Marcella’s hand, her white woolen cloak got ripped on one side, revealing her neck and her shoulder.

However, Anastasia was still unafraid. Instead, she closed her eyes as if she had accepted her fate and even tilted her head to the side to show off her slender neck.

She instantly felt Marcella’s face hovering above her neck. The cold breath gave her goosebumps, and finally, reality set in. ‘Is this it?’ she wondered. But even at a moment like this, the thought of dying didn’t scare her, not even in the slightest.

She awaited the vampire maid to dig her fangs into her neck at any second now.

‘I hope Caspian will find that letter and not the diary…’ she thought as a sudden surge of guilt engulfed her whole.

Before she could say her goodbyes in her heart though, she felt a splatter of cold liquid across her neck and her face, prompting her to flinch involuntarily.

‘Eh?’ she was confused when she heard a soft thudding sound. Several possibilities ran through her mind within a split second. ‘That’s not my blood, is it? What happened? Did she spit on me? What dropped?’

“My Queen, are you alright?”

She was so close to erasing her existence as a villain from everyone’s life that one must say she was a little disappointed when she heard that familiar voice. She slowly opened her eyes to see Vincent standing there while breathing heavily and panicking a little.

He then quickly slammed his fist against something that was in front of Anastasia. Another thud, a bit louder than earlier was heard.

Anastasia drew in a sharp breath when she finally wrapped her mind around her surroundings. It was the headless body of Marcella that Vincent had just knocked out. The severed head was lying near Vincent’s legs on top of a small pool of blood.

Anastasia was finally scared. Disgusted would be a rather perfect term. She was disgusted at the sight of the gore. There was blood everywhere – on the ground, on her clothes, and even on her body.

Suddenly, Anastasia grabbed her stomach and threw up right on top of the headless body. While throwing up, she felt an agonizing pain in her lower abdomen. “Ahh!” she grimaced in a suppressed voice and gagged again. Her whole body was covered in cold sweats in no time. She felt really weak as the cold sensation spread across her chest and her head.

“My Queen?” Vincent didn’t know whether to hold the Queen or watch her throw up or take her somewhere else. He looked at Tilla for help but she was also struggling in pain.

And before Vincent could decide what to do with the Queen, Anastasia collapsed.
