Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 166: He Dumped the Work on Me and Took His Wife Out to Have Fun
After Vivian Sullivan left Justin Huxley’s company, she took a cab directly to the Sinclair Group. At the front desk, she gave her name and stated that she wanted to see Vice President Charles Jenson.
Although Charles Jenson wasn’t as popular as Maxim Sinclair, he was still a well-known, eligible bachelor in Stellarion, with countless women hoping to catch his attention every day.
When the receptionist heard Vivian Sullivan say she wanted to see Vice President Charles Jenson, she instinctively assumed this was another ambitious woman trying to climb the social ladder. So, she politely asked Vivian to wait aside, saying she’d call upstairs shortly to notify the Vice President.
She asked Vivian Sullivan to wait patiently there.
And so, Vivian Sullivan sat there idly for two hours.
After two hours, Vivian Sullivan, finally sensing something was off, returned to the reception desk and questioned the busy staff inside, "I’ve waited for two hours, and there’s still no response?"
The receptionist then remembered her, quickly offering an apologetic smile and apologized sincerely, "I’m really sorry, Ms. Sullivan. Our Vice President left just an hour ago. Shortly after you arrived, we informed his assistant about the visit, but the Vice President was in a meeting at that time and couldn’t attend to guests."
Vivian Sullivan looked at the receptionist who was smiling gently and speaking with such poise, suddenly realizing the mistaken assumptions about her identity.
"Enough, you don’t need to contact him. I’ll reach out to him myself."
The receptionist thought she was trying to save face and inwardly mocked Vivian Sullivan, though keeping her expression neutral. "Really sorry, but our Vice President is extremely busy. It seems he has stepped out again to meet clients."
Vivian Sullivan ignored her and directly found Charles Jenson’s number from her blacklist and dialed it.
In the office, Charles Jenson was surprised to see the incoming call.
He raised a hand to signal his subordinate, who was reporting, to pause, then picked up the phone, "Surprising. I never thought I’d get a call from you."
Vivian glanced towards the contemptuous receptionist and coldly asked, "Where are you right now? I’m at your company reception. If you’re still in the office, could I come up? I have something to discuss with you."
Charles raised an eyebrow in slight surprise, then after a moment, teasingly said with a smile in his voice, "I guess you’ve finally thought it through and are willing to make a deal with me?"
"So, are you in the office or not?" Vivian’s tone was filled with impatience. "If you’re here, just inform the reception so I can come up. If you’re not, I’m leaving. I don’t have time to waste here with you."
The receptionist, busy with her work, grew increasingly suspicious as she listened, eventually stopping her tasks to secretly observe Vivian Sullivan.
At this point, Vivian Sullivan hung up and turned to the receptionist, "I just called Charles Jenson. He said he’s in the office and will have his assistant call you. When that happens, please inform me of his floor and office so I can find him."
The receptionist hadn’t fully processed her words when the desk phone rang. Instinctively, she answered, and indeed it was Charles Jenson’s assistant on the line, confirming, "The Miss Sullivan who came to see the Vice President downstairs is indeed a friend of his."
After hanging up, Vivian looked at the elevator, then at the receptionist, "Please tell me which floor Charles Jenson’s office is on and its location. I don’t want to have to ask around again once I’m up there."
The receptionist was immensely relieved for having maintained a polite demeanor earlier. She personally led Vivian Sullivan to the elevator, "The Vice President’s office is on the top floor, turn left when you exit the elevator, about three or four meters away is his office. If you turn right, that entire area belongs to President Sinclair. Miss Sullivan, be mindful of the directions so you don’t get it wrong."
"Got it, thank you."
At the top floor’s stairway, already waiting as instructed by Charles Jenson, the assistant cordially greeted Vivian Sullivan with a smile, "Miss Sullivan, is it? Please follow me."
Vivian nodded and followed him. Upon realizing he was leading her to a meeting room, she stopped the assistant who was about to leave, "Where’s Charles Jenson? Is he busy right now?"
The assistant nodded, politely explaining, "President Jennings is currently in a meeting. It should end in about half an hour. May I trouble you to rest here for a bit, enjoy some coffee, and once his meeting concludes, I’ll bring you over."
"Alright then, I’ll wait here for now and head over once he’s done."
The assistant closed the door and returned to Charles Jenson’s office. Upon his return, Jenson looked at him with an inquiring gaze to check how it went.
The assistant nodded, indicating that everything was handled.
The subordinate, who was still reporting, noticed their silent exchange and wisely quickened the pace, compressing what should have taken half an hour into just over twenty minutes.
When Vivian Sullivan entered, Charles Jenson was standing by the window watering a plant. Upon hearing her, he greeted without turning around, "Your attitude the last time you saw me made me think you’d never set foot in this office again. Yet, here you are just a few days later, coming to see me on your own initiative."
"You seem quite pleased with yourself?" Vivian walked up to him, maintaining her usual expressionless face.
Charles turned to glance at her, unwillingly shaking his head, "I vaguely remember the first time I met you. It was because of your bright, striking smile that I was intrigued and asked for your contact. Seeing you again, you’ve maintained such a cold demeanor that I’m starting to forget what your smile looked like."
"I don’t have time for small talk. I’m asking you, where is Summer Lowell now? Is Maxim Sinclair keeping her confined at Varden Villa?" 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
"Is that the only reason you came to see me?" Charles put down the watering can, "If you were asking about work-related matters, I might know. But as for President Sinclair’s personal affairs, I’m not sure. Though I’ve been to Varden Villa for gatherings, usually President Sinclair doesn’t like discussing business at his home."
"I think you know. What would it take for you to tell me?"
"I truly don’t know the situation with your dear friend. I can only tell you that our President Sinclair, in order to make your dear friend happy, has delegated all manageable work to me. I’ll probably have to live at the office for the next half month."
Charles, mentioning this, was filled with frustration, overwhelmed by the sudden increase in workload.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
"It means President Sinclair plans to neglect his work and take your dear friend out to have fun."
