Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 18: Letting Down Her Guard
"Just leave it there, someone will clean up later."
Maxim Sinclair said and entered the bathroom, leaving Summer Lowell standing there with her eyes lit up.
Does that mean someone else will come later?
Summer looked at the silver chain in her hand, starting to plan how to leave smoothly.
But before she could form a thought, Maxim came out of the bathroom after washing his hands: "I know what you’re thinking. I suggest you stop wasting your efforts. You were my secretary and should know what this villa means to me."
Summer’s heart sank; she indeed knew the significance of Varden Villa to Maxim.
This villa was left to him by his parents. People who could enter or exit this villa were definitely those he trusted.
In other words, even if Summer cried for help to whoever came in, they might not help her. They might even report to Maxim everything she did.
Maxim leisurely unbuttoned his shirt, watching Summer’s face changing constantly, finding her amusing. He walked over and pinched her chin: "I never noticed before how expressive your face is! So interesting. When you were my secretary, just how many masks did you wear?"
"What about you?" Summer looked up and countered, "What will it take for you to let me go?"
"Tsk," Maxim frowned displeasedly, "It’s that mouth of yours, always saying things I don’t like."
Summer looked at him expressionlessly: "I’m just this kind of disagreeable person. I don’t know what I am in your memory. Maybe you people in high positions all have this possessiveness, but let me remind you, I’m very uninteresting. You don’t need to waste your time on me."
"Interesting or not, you don’t get to decide." Maxim released her chin, his distinct fingers sliding back from Summer’s neck to her waist, then suddenly exerting force, pressing her against him.
With his lips close to her ear, Maxim said breathlessly, "As long as I’m not tired of you, don’t think about leaving my side."
After saying that, Maxim tilted his head and kissed her. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
A long kiss ended, and Summer gasped against his chest.
Maxim, a bit satisfied, stood leisurely with one hand still on Summer’s waist, behind them, a middle-aged woman had appeared at some point, swiftly cleaning the dining table.
When Summer regained her breath and stood straight, she found the once chaotic dining table clean and tidy.
Maxim’s eyes sparkled with laughter: "Not much stamina, Secretary Lowell, just a kiss, and you’re worn out, missing a chance to call for help? It seems like you need more practice!"
An ashamed and angry Summer pushed him away.
Maxim, thoroughly enjoying his triumph, raised a hand to touch the corner of his mouth, unable to help but laugh: "What? Did my words embarrass you?"
"Maxim Sinclair, if you’re really hungry/thirsty, there are plenty of women willing to climb into President Sinclair’s bed. Why insist on holding onto me?" Summer’s chest heaved with anger.
Maxim casually walked to the side, poured himself a glass of water, and drank unhurriedly. After a while, he explained, "I’m picky; I rarely change my tastes. Secretary Lowell, don’t forget, you were the one who provoked me first. I’m not someone you can just dismiss. You should have thought of the consequences before you provoked me."
Since the night she returned to the country, Summer had been regretting not revealing her identity when she joined The Sinclair Group, and even more so, impulsively becoming Maxim’s secretary.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be trapped in such a dilemma now.
Summer lowered her head, helplessly rubbing her temple, the clinking of the chain disturbing her further.
How on earth could she get him to remove this chain?
However, this man seemed to respond to gentleness, not force, so it seemed she had to continue to play the victim.
On the other side of the room, Maxim noticed her movements, remained silent for a while, then spoke: "Does your hand hurt?"
"It’s not really painful," Summer changed her tone with a shift in her eyes, "it’s just that with this on my hand, it’s a bit inconvenient to do anything."
"With meals ready and hands-free, what’s inconvenient?" Maxim said, approaching her with a glass of warm water, intending to feed her himself.
Summer seemed to think of something suddenly and obediently drank the water as he held it.
Watching her cooperate so well, Maxim’s tone softened significantly: "One glass enough? Want another one?"
"No," Summer shook her head lightly, wiped her mouth, then leaned close to Maxim’s chest, "I’ve been on edge all day and haven’t rested much. Now I feel exhausted and sleepy and want to sleep."
"It’s about time," Maxim glanced at the clock, wrapping his arm around Summer as they walked towards the bed, "You should rest first."
When they reached the bed, Maxim hadn’t yet let go of his hand, and Summer suddenly reached out, hugging his waist actively, her face pressing into his shoulder nook: "Aren’t you going to stay with me? I’m a bit scared being alone."
Maxim paused for a moment, then reacted with a chuckle, suggesting implicitly: "Do you know what it means when you say that?"
Summer still buried her face in his embrace, after a long time, a muffled voice came out: "I know you won’t force me, so, will you stay with me?"
"How do you know I won’t force you?" Maxim’s hand carried a suggestive hint as it slid downward.
"I know," Summer lifted her head, looking directly into Maxim’s eyes, "I know you’re not that kind of person."
"Huh," Maxim chuckled, bending down to scoop her up and tossing her onto the bed, following her by kicking off his shoes and pinning her with one hand, "I figured it out, you’ll have to learn the hard way to become obedient."
Summer struggled to put on a pitiful expression, raising her hand with the silver chain, pitifully saying: "This thing hurts my hand."
Maxim, clearly breathless, reached back into his pocket for a key: "Fine, I’ll unlock it for you right now."
With the chain unlocked, Summer wrapped an arm around Maxim’s neck, leaning into his embrace: "It’s much more comfortable this way."
...
In the middle of the night, with Maxim’s arms wrapped around her, Summer secretly opened her eyes, carefully moving his arm from her waist.
She was very cautious, yet she still startled Maxim awake.
"What is it?" A drowsy voice sounded from behind.
"Nothing... I’m just going to the bathroom." Summer replied calmly.
Luckily, Maxim did not get suspicious: "Put on a coat, it’s chilly at night. Don’t catch a cold."
"Mm, okay."
Summer obediently replied, stepping barefoot on the ground, wrapping herself in a coat as she slipped into the bathroom.
She stayed in the bathroom for a long time, long enough that her feet turned cold before she finally came out.
Summer carefully walked to the bedside, looking at the sound asleep Maxim, before cautiously sneaking out of the room.
If she remembered correctly, Maxim had locked her up in a room on the second floor, and Maxim’s study was also on the second floor.
