Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 203: Public Accusation at the Shareholders’ Meeting
When Summer Lowell entered the room, Vivian Sullivan once again showed a conflicted expression on her face.
Summer Lowell and Justin Huxley seem to be doing quite well together, so should I tell Summer Lowell that her previous boyfriend wasn’t Justin Huxley, but Maxim Sinclair?
...
"President Sinclair, all the shareholders have already assembled in the main conference room. Shall we head over now?"
Assistant Collins hurried after the rarely late Maxim Sinclair into his office, swiftly stepped forward to help him with his coat, placed it aside, and tidied up the documents needed for the meeting, holding them in his arms while observing Maxim Sinclair’s expression and cautiously reminded, "President Sinclair, have you seen the news online?"
"Are you talking about the press release that’s gone viral online this morning? They sure went all out, buying coverage everywhere. I’ve already seen it on my way here."
The scheduled meeting time had already passed by ten minutes, and Assistant Collins looked worriedly at the never-late Maxim Sinclair who was still leisurely fiddling with the things in his hands.
"Have you prepared the documents needed for this meeting?" Maxim Sinclair glanced at the documents held in Assistant Collins’s arms.
"All the documents are ready, President Sinclair, you can go straight to the conference room now."
Maxim Sinclair nodded, flipping through the phone in his hands as he walked out.
"I can guarantee that the news about me online today was arranged by Justin Huxley." Maxim Sinclair watched for a while then put away his phone, softly asking Assistant Collins beside him, "What’s the situation in the conference room now? I’ve been late for quite a while; has anyone stormed out in anger?"
"That hasn’t happened." They might just be voicing dissatisfaction behind your back. Assistant Collins looked at Maxim Sinclair’s clearly daunting aura and felt his heart sink.
This shareholders’ meeting today will surely be exciting!
Assistant Collins hurriedly stepped forward, rushing into the conference room ahead of Maxim Sinclair, then respectfully opened the door, using his demeanor to silently alert the whispering shareholders inside that the big boss had arrived.
Almost as soon as Maxim Sinclair appeared, the previously noisy conference room fell so quiet that breathing could be heard.
Maxim Sinclair pulled out the chair at the head seat, and formally apologized as if it was a formality: "Sorry, there was traffic, I’m late. Let’s begin."
Intimidated by his presence, the meeting began in a somewhat orderly manner, no different from previous shareholders’ meetings, but in the latter part when discussing the stolen Bluegate Project, a few major shareholders holding significant portions of stock did not hide their dissatisfaction.
What’s more, one major shareholder with a good relationship with Maxim Sinclair’s father indirectly accused Maxim Sinclair of being arrogant and cold-hearted.
While accusing him, he also praised the Huxley brothers’ unity, clearly mocking Maxim Sinclair’s previous actions dealing with illegitimate children.
Assistant Collins listened from the back, feeling as if his heart was about to leap out.
He knew today’s shareholders’ meeting couldn’t end well.
Maxim Sinclair expressionlessly waited for the sarcastic major shareholder to finish speaking before he spoke up: "Today’s shareholders’ meeting is to discuss proper business matters of the company. Let’s not bring in tabloid news here; those who want to talk tabloid news can create an account and post online, but just don’t post about me."
The two-faced shareholder quickly stepped in to mediate: "Aldridge is just anxious; a well-anticipated Bluegate Project was silently snatched away, this wasted so much effort from so many people!"
"Everyone here isn’t new to business; they should understand the concept of gaining and losing," Maxim Sinclair threw the documents in his hand onto the table, leaned back, crossed his legs, and clasped his hands together, "Our Sinclair Group isn’t relying on the Bluegate Project to survive; is it absolutely necessary?"
"Of course, it isn’t indispensable," the sarcastic major shareholder spoke again, "Our biggest worry is that similar incidents will happen again; one occurrence is catastrophic enough, and if it happens repeatedly..."
Maxim Sinclair wasn’t interested in chit-chatting, raising his right hand to signal.
Assistant Collins received the cue, stepped forward, and explained loudly: "On the day the incident happened, President Sinclair already instructed me to issue orders to each subsidiary head; for each head to vigilantly guard against it, and if something similar happens again, we will hold individuals accountable."
"If the people below are fighting desperately and those above don’t guard properly, there’s nothing to be done!" The shareholder who has been nitpicking since the mention of Bluegate Project seemed to come specifically to cause trouble today, continuously finding fault.
Maxim Sinclair looked him in the eye for a long time, then let out a faint laugh: "Uncle Adler, feel free to speak straight; beating around the bush doesn’t sound pleasant."
The shareholder called Uncle Adler didn’t dare meet his gaze, averting his eyes, looking at the other shareholders present, muttering unclearly: "Everyone in Stellarion knows you made a wrong judgment because of a woman, and that’s why the project was snatched."
Maxim Sinclair laughed out loud upon hearing this: "Where did you hear that from? Speaking of delaying business due to lust, you’re the one in this conference room who’s made similar mistakes the most!"
The shareholder with the surname Adler turned blue and red from being reproached and finally slapped the table and stood up: "Regardless, the position you sit in is different from mine; you shouldn’t be making such mistakes!"
Maxim Sinclair scanned around, seeing the shareholders subtly glancing at him, suddenly realizing: "Go ahead, say what your true intentions are."
"We don’t really have any ulterior motives, but the Bluegate Project incident was too costly; as chairman, you need to give us a proper explanation! The investments we made in the Bluegate Project were all genuine money!"
"That’s easy to solve," Maxim Sinclair sat straight again, scanned around, and spoke clearly, "However much value was stolen from the project, we can just snatch it back?"
Maxim Sinclair looked at the stunned shareholders: "Of course, that’s my idea. If any of you have different opinions, feel free to come to my office. Let’s end the meeting here for now!"
With that, he left, while Assistant Collins was grabbed by a nearby shareholder.
"Assistant Collins, you’re always with President Sinclair; what’s going on with President Sinclair recently, and what’s the news online all about?" Surrounding him, a group of people approached, making his head spin.
He knew he’d be pulled aside and questioned!
"The news online is all nonsense; please don’t believe it. I’ve already instructed the PR department to handle it, the PR and Legal teams will jointly sue those spreading rumors; please don’t believe or spread rumors."
