Chapter 204: Chapter 204: Online Gossip News

"You say the news online is fake, but let me ask you, what about the woman he brought home before?" another shareholder blocked him. "That one must be true, right? Isn’t she the one who got engaged to Justin Huxley a couple of days ago?"

Assistant Collins had to muster all his strength to finally squeeze out of the conference room. Just as he returned to his desk, the secretary informed him that Maxim Sinclair was looking for him. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Only then did Assistant Collins remember that the meeting minutes hadn’t been delivered yet.

He quickly tidied up his clothes, wrinkled from the crowd in the conference room, and entered Maxim Sinclair’s office with the documents in hand.

In the office, besides Maxim Sinclair, the director of the public relations department was also present.

Maxim, who was listening to the PR director, noticed him entering. "What took you so long? Were you trapped by those shareholders?"

Assistant Collins nodded with lingering fear. "They are truly gossip-hungry, bombarding me with questions, but rest assured, President Sinclair, I’m quite skilled at handling them. They couldn’t get any information from me."

"That’s good. Now go notify the heads of the branches. In half an hour, I want to have an online meeting with them."

After Assistant Collins left with the instructions, Maxim turned to the PR director. "Prepare the chain of evidence you have, start by suing those who went overboard. As for the ambiguous ones, save them for now, don’t sue them yet."

The PR director jotted down the requests. "But President Sinclair, handling it in such a light manner will still affect your reputation. In my opinion, we should sue more people. Otherwise, I can contact the social platforms to have them delete all those nonsense articles."

"No need for now." Maxim continued to browse the internet articles implying his romantic displeasure, making reckless decisions due to beauty distractions, and his ruthless nature, using any means necessary, leaving no room for his illegitimate siblings.

"The way these articles are written, even I feel disgusted with myself." He joked about himself, yet the PR director dared not laugh along, simply kept his head down, waiting for further instructions.

"I have nothing more here. Let’s just leave it at this for now. Get your people to watch closely and find out who’s behind these releases as soon as possible."

The PR department couldn’t quite fathom his thoughts, only guessing his intentions from experience: "Are you planning to fish them out like bait?"

"What else? Am I supposed to sit back and let them run their mouths online?" Maxim looked at him. "Go ahead and do as I said."

...

"Justin, have you seen my phone?"

Unable to find her phone, Summer Lowell walked over to the window and asked Justin Huxley, who was sitting there reading. "I remember seeing it while painting just now. How did it disappear just like that?"

"Oh, I put it away for you. I noticed you kept rubbing your eyes this morning, so I asked our family doctor out of concern. He said you overstrained your eyes from staying up late working, so you should stay away from electronic devices. That’s why I took the liberty of putting it away."

Justin reached out to touch Summer’s cheek. "How did you get watercolor paint on your face?"

"Did I?" Summer’s attention was diverted by the remark, and she ran to the washroom to fix the colors on her face.

After cleaning up her face, Summer glanced at her eyes in the mirror, then returned to the window, gently tugging at Justin’s arm with a playful tone: "Justin, why don’t you give me back my phone? I want to take a picture of my painting just now for Vivian. I promised her."

"No rush. You can show her the painting tonight when she gets home. "

Justin pulled her into his embrace. "The sunlight is nice today. Stay here with me and read a bit. When you’re tired, just look at the distant scenery. I’ll give your phone back before I leave tonight."

With no way to get her phone, Summer gave up and ran off to the kitchen. "I don’t want to read. I just remembered I promised Vivian yesterday to cook something for her today. Why don’t you read by yourself first? I’m heading to the kitchen."

"Go ahead, and remember to make some for me too. It’s been a while since I had your cooking. I didn’t want to tire you, but hopefully, today I can enjoy that delight."

"Okay."

The book in Justin’s hand hadn’t flipped the page for ages. Until he faintly heard the sounds coming from the kitchen, he took out the phone from his inner coat pocket.

[Is it set up yet?]

[It’s a bit troublesome, President Huxley. It’ll take another hour.]

[Hurry up and get the phone back before dark.]

[Understood, will do my best.]

...

After a tender farewell to Summer, Justin drove back to The Huxley Residence.

As the car entered the villa, he saw Tina Huxley jump down from the steps and run towards him. "Vaughn said Dad wants to see you, and he’s in the study. You came just in time, go on up."

Justin tossed his car keys to her. "Hold onto these for me."

Up in the study, Justin knocked and entered. "Uncle, Tina said you were looking for me."

"You came at the right time. Have a seat, I have something to discuss with you." Mr. Huxley walked over and handed him a tablet. "Just received news that Maxim Sinclair was berated by shareholders at a shareholder meeting today."

"Really? Can he actually stomach that?" Justin half-skeptically took the tablet.

"He’ll have to, whether he likes it or not." Mr. Huxley snorted. "After all, he was in the wrong. The Bluegate Project is a juicy piece of meat! He stayed in Stellarion for a woman, refusing to go to Cantova to meet with the Aevum Group people. It’s no wonder he lost the project."

"Uncle, we should be celebrating. Not many people can take a project away from him." Justin looked around. "I’ll have someone send up two drinks, so we can toast to our success."

"Don’t celebrate just yet." Mr. Huxley’s expression turned serious as he opened another message. "Maxim Sinclair claimed in the meeting that for every valuable project lost, he’ll take another back."

"What’s that supposed to mean?" Justin’s smile faded. "Does he plan to use this tactic against us?"

"That’s about right. There aren’t many companies dealing with such large projects." Mr. Huxley chuckled, tempered by seriousness. "Maxim Sinclair is preparing to take a bite out of us!"

"Let him try." Justin placed the phone back on the desk. "Do we have any juicy project worth his biting? Use it as bait to lure him in."

"What do you suggest?" Mr. Huxley hesitated.

"Set a trap for him with no way out," Justin’s eyes glinted with intent. "Maxim Sinclair has had his way for too long. It’s time he hit a wall."
