Chapter 220: Chapter 220: Dr. David Dalton, Here to Help You Recover Your Memory

Summer Lowell looked at the large and luxurious bathroom, and asked unconsciously, "How did you know I liked this place?"

"You used to stay here for a long time, only coming out after I noticed and called you," Maxim Sinclair said, his eyes darkening. "Go in and feel it out, maybe it’ll help you remember something."

Summer glanced at Maxim, who was reluctant to leave, and raised her hand to close the door.

She reached out to turn on the faucet, testing the water temperature from a distance, her eyes dazed as she watched the steam, lost in thought.

Outside, Maxim was drinking a cup of tea. Hearing the sound of water, he looked up at the bathroom, seeing the faint silhouette through the frosted glass.

Maxim stared like that, unwilling to move his gaze away for a long time.

Great, you’re finally back.

The next morning, Summer woke up startled from a dream, and Maxim, who was sitting beside her reading, looked down at her: "Did you have a nightmare?"

Summer shook her head slowly, opened her mouth to speak, but in the next second, regained her composure and swallowed her words.

Maxim chuckled softly and turned a page: "Did you remember anything?"

Summer ignored him, lifted the quilt, and got out of bed.

Maxim wasn’t angry either, looking at her silhouette with a cheerful smile: "Now that you’re back, this room finally feels alive again."

After breakfast, Maxim kept following Summer closely, showing no intention of leaving.

Summer was vexed by his constant presence, and finally, unable to bear it anymore, turned back and looked at him, "Can you stop following me like this?"

"I can stop following you, but accompany me to the study. The study has been renovated, with a studio just for you, where you can paint and design as much as you want."

Summer was, of course, unwilling to share a room with him: "You’re the President of the Sinclair Group, I wouldn’t dare go to your study. What if there’s some confidential stuff in there? I’d never clear my name."

Maxim looked at the sharp-witted Summer and couldn’t help but burst into laughter again.

Back when they discussed remodeling the study before their sea trip, Summer had responded with the exact same words.

"It’s fine, look if you want. Even if you print out all my confidential documents and distribute them on the street, I wouldn’t say a word."

Summer felt uncomfortable under his gaze and turned to run into the garden. With so many people around, she thought Maxim might consider his reputation and stop staring so brazenly.

Not long after she reached the garden, the butler arrived.

"Young Master, Young Madam, Dr. David Dalton is here with specialized medical equipment. As he requested, I’ve prepared a treatment room on the second floor."

"Just in time," Maxim said, taking a step and grabbing Summer, who was trying to run away. "The doctor who can help you regain your memory is here."

"I can walk myself, you don’t need to drag me." Summer shook her hand vigorously, trying to free herself.

Maxim’s grip on her wrist was like an iron clamp, not letting go: "Behave, don’t cause a scene."

Dr. David Dalton was a slightly gray-haired, pot-bellied white doctor.

When he saw Maxim and Summer hand in hand, he chuckled and exclaimed "Yahoo," giving them a thumbs up and praised in not-so-fluent Mandarin, "Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair are very loving! You two look like a natural match, a match made in heaven, I haven’t seen such compatible people in a long time."

Maxim was delighted by his words, "Dr. Dalton’s Chinese is more fluent than last time we met!"

"Of course, on the flight here, I’ve been diligently practicing my Chinese, all to better help Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair."

"Then I must thank Dr. Dalton in advance," Maxim said, looking down at Summer, "This is Dr. David Dalton, the world’s top brain specialist. He’s very skilled at helping those with memory loss recover their memories."

"No, no," Dr. Dalton corrected with a cheerful shake of his finger, "When Mr. Sinclair asked for my help, he insisted I put in my utmost effort to help Mrs. Sinclair recover her lost happiness."

Then Dr. Dalton shook his head with emotion, "Mr. Sinclair really loves you!"

Summer was blushing from the enthusiastic Dr. Dalton. Seeing that the white doctor continued to chat away, even starting to switch to English, Summer couldn’t take it anymore. She peeked up and glared at Maxim, subtly scratching his palm to signal him to interrupt the somewhat gossipy doctor.

Maxim savored Summer’s rare gesture for a moment before finally interrupting Dr. Dalton’s chatter just before Summer became too agitated: "It’s hot outside, let’s go upstairs to talk."

After going to the dedicated treatment room prepared by the butler, Dr. Dalton put away his earlier playful demeanor, turning serious in tone: "I need to perform a comprehensive test and examination on Mrs. Sinclair."

Maxim naturally agreed, turning to Summer gently, "Cooperate with the doctor, with Dr. Dalton here, and me by your side."

Summer averted her gaze, her ears burning red, stubbornly defending herself, "I’m not scared, don’t talk to me in that condescending way."

Maxim laughed softly, "I know you’re not scared, you’ve always been brave."

The examination conducted by Dr. Dalton was indeed detailed, as it was still ongoing after more than three hours.

When the butler came up to deliver coffee for the fourth time, he couldn’t help but ask the assistant who had just stepped out, "How much longer approximately?"

The young, blonde assistant, still brimming with admiration, replied, "This is the last item, should be done in less than ten minutes." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Then the assistant paused and took the coffee from the butler’s hand, "Mr. and Mrs. Sinclair must’ve been newlyweds, right?"

The implication being, only a newlywed couple would have such a good relationship.

The butler smiled but didn’t continue the conversation.

The assistant didn’t notice his reaction, and continued, "It must be that your Sir pursued Madam. Your Madam seems so quiet! Hardly ever speaks proactively."

The butler smiled and didn’t reply, deftly changing the topic to whether the coffee suited their taste.

In preparation for Dr. Dalton and his team, the butler had long prepared their favorite coffee.

The assistant was satisfied, raising her coffee, "It’s excellent, just like what I usually drink."

"That’s good." The butler smiled contentedly.

The assistant quickly finished her coffee, then returned to the room to continue processing data.

Summer came out looking bewildered after all the tests and examinations, led by Maxim.

Dr. Dalton followed, "Mr. Sinclair, I will give you the examination results tomorrow."
