Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!-Chapter 327: Don’t Go Over There
The zombie in the suit regained its clean attire and neatly combed hair, presenting a "glamorous" appearance.
The dirt-covered shovel didn’t make its body look filthy.
It still looked like a white-collar worker.
"Farming?"
Bai Yifan raised an eyebrow.
There’s nothing strange about zombies farming; in Taovillage, zombies plant trees every day.
Under the command of high-rank zombies, they don’t seem that terrifying.
Sometimes, they even appear somewhat adorable.
The zombie in the suit sluggishly shook his head and gestured towards a direction behind him, making a hand gesture to Bai Yifan.
A gesture of not going over there.
"What’s up?"
Bai Yifan scratched his head, not quite understanding the suited zombie’s intentions.
The suited zombie just gestured for Bai Yifan not to go, making a couple of dry, hoarse sounds. Then, it carried the shovel and slowly left.
It still had tasks to complete!
The boss had given it lots of crystal cores; it needed to distribute some of them quickly to the zombie minions.
The boss liked cleanliness the most; the injured zombie minions were all bloody. Absorbing the crystal cores quickly to heal wounds was better.
Watching the back of the suited zombie, Bai Yifan blinked.
Only after the suited zombie turned did Bai Yifan notice that it was carrying a backpack.
The black backpack was bulging, looking heavy.
Bai Yifan decisively walked towards the direction that the suited zombie indicated not to go to.
He had nothing else to do anyway, might as well take a look at what it was he couldn’t see!
Thanks to Leng Yebai and Zhang Yiming being able to control zombies, the entire village’s zombies were very docile. Bai Yifan, on this sunny morning, wasn’t afraid of zombies at all.
Even alone, he dared to walk in a particular direction on his own.
Bai Yifan walked leisurely, the road was quite empty, occasionally spotting an unwiped stain of dark brown blood.
Bai Yifan tiptoed to look at the yards on either side of the road. Through the windows, he could vaguely see figures inside.
These were all underlings of Zhang Yiming.
Bai Yifan took out a milk tablet wrapped in tin foil from his pocket, peeled one open, and ate it, squinting with satisfaction as he continued forward.
The ground faintly showed some scattered soil.
Likely dropped from the suited zombie’s shovel.
Bai Yifan followed the specks of soil with interest.
The journey was somewhat long.
Bai Yifan glanced back at the village behind him and then at the endless road ahead, feeling a bit anxious.
Should he go forward or not?
Bai Yifan stood in place thinking for five minutes, deciding not to go.
It’s too far; if that lunatic came here yesterday, it would be trouble.
Bai Yifan turned around to head back.
He had been out for almost half an hour; he was exhausted, time to go back for food!
As soon as he turned, he saw a menacing zombie coming from across the road with a shovel.
Bai Yifan found this zombie somewhat familiar; it was one of Zhang Yiming’s underlings, also a rather high-ranked zombie.
It wore a Doraemon cartoon cap, seemed somewhat short, yet a thick looming hostility faintly emitted from its body.
This was a fourth-rank zombie.
His sister’s superpower was also fourth-rank.
The short zombie’s dull, decayed eyes glanced at Bai Yifan, very gentlemanly slightly bowing and then carrying the shovel, wearing an empty backpack, continuing down the road.
Bai Yifan looked at the polite short zombie and then at the empty road, lifting his foot to follow.
Bai Yifan was usually afraid of zombies, but he wasn’t afraid of this seemingly polite zombie.
The most important thing was, both Leng Yebai and Zhang Yiming were high-rank zombies, utterly unafraid of being bitten by zombies.
In human terms, his backing was very strong.
The short zombie dully looked back at Bai Yifan and continued forward.
Bai Yifan quickly caught up to the short zombie, took out a tin-foil wrapped milk tablet from his pocket, skillfully peeled open the foil, revealing the white milk tablet.
"Do you... want one?"
Bai Yifan tilted his head, looking at the short zombie in front of him.
The Doraemon cap on the short zombie’s head paused, its decayed mouth slowly opened, revealing black saliva.
Bai Yifan tossed the milk tablet directly into the short zombie’s mouth.
Crunch crunch.
The short zombie chewed expressionlessly, devoid of any enjoyment of food, like chewing air in boredom.
The short zombie and Bai Yifan were of similar height, the decayed face made it impossible to guess its age. Walking together, they somewhat resembled students walking together.
On this walk, apart from the occasional soil falling to the ground, there wasn’t much else.
After walking about two kilometers, Bai Yifan finally saw a vague silhouette ahead.
Judging by its bizarrely twisted body, it was a zombie.
Bai Yifan marveled internally.
Even at such a distance from the village, Zhang Yiming’s brainwaves could still control zombies, something beyond sheer strength.
It was practically superhuman.
The silhouette stood silently; Bai Yifan’s arrival didn’t incite it into a bloodthirsty frenzy.
The brainwaves made its body tremble, not daring to overstep a single boundary.
The short zombie and Bai Yifan quickly arrived in front of the silhouette.
It really was a zombie. This zombie not only had a decayed appearance but was even dirtier than typical zombies.
It’s not dirtied by the black blood, but covered with soil, the black blood coagulated on its clothes, mixed with soil, the black soil exuding endless decay.
Bai Yifan noticed its fingers; the flesh had mostly fallen off, with black blood slowly oozing out, even covered with dirt unable to stop the blood.
At its feet, there was a pile of crystal cores.
In the sunlight, the crystal cores refracted colorful beams, shining brightly, more beautiful and noble than crystals.
These weren’t ordinary crystal cores, they were high-rank crystal cores.
Bai Yifan remembered the zombie army brought by the masked man yesterday; many of those zombies were high-rank zombies.
At the forefront, at the very least, they were second-rank zombies.
Probably, these crystal cores belonged to zombies that died in the village yesterday!
Bai Yifan recalled many zombies dying yesterday, mostly brought by the masked man.
But why were these crystal cores here?
It’s hard to imagine extracting such beautiful crystal cores from a severely rotten head.
"Why so many crystal cores?"
Bai Yifan looked at the crystal cores on the ground, surprised.
No one answered him.
The short zombie slowly bent down, and quickly placed the backpack and shovel on the ground, its stiff body creaking noisily.
The decayed fingers slowly unzipped the backpack, clasped hands together, and started placing the ground’s crystal cores into the backpack.
A handful at a time.
The stationary zombie didn’t move, not reacting at all.
After nearly ten minutes, only then did the short zombie place all of the crystal cores into the backpack.
The heavy backpack was shakily lifted by decayed fingers, barely withstanding such weight, twisting bizarrely.
"Let me help you!"
Bai Yifan hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward to help it lift the backpack and let it wear it. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
The short zombie’s decayed mouth twitched, seemingly wanting to speak, but produced a couple of "hoho" syllables unique to zombies.
