Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 237: Preparing to Sue Tina Huxley
"Who dares to get angry with you," Summer Lowell put away her paintbrush and tidied up the tools at hand, "I’ve finally figured it out; someone like me shouldn’t go against you."
"Speak properly, don’t be sarcastic," Maxim Sinclair noticed her demeanor seemed to suggest she was about to leave, "Finished with the painting? I can see it’s only a third done. You just don’t want to be in the same room with me? Do you want to run away as soon as you see me?"
"The things in your study are too valuable, and the situation is ambiguous, so it’s safer if I leave."
"I’m not scared of you stealing files, so what are you afraid of?" Maxim Sinclair pressed his hand on an empty part of the painting, leaning slightly forward, "Or are you deliberately trying to avoid me?"
"If that’s what you think, there’s nothing I can do," Summer glanced at the painting under his hand and abandoned the idea of taking it away. She left with empty hands, "I’ll leave the room to you, so I won’t disturb you."
Maxim Sinclair didn’t push aside his work to return home just to handle work in his study.
He followed Summer all the way to the bedroom, watching her pick up her phone. His eyes flashed, and he leaned in and asked, "By the way, does your senior know about you recovering your memory?"
Summer held the phone, suddenly realizing something. She turned her head and stared at Maxim Sinclair: "Did you tamper with this phone?"
Maxim Sinclair responded with another question: "Tamper? What’s wrong with the phone? I specifically chose it for you according to your preference. Is there a problem?"
As he spoke, Maxim Sinclair reached out his hand, "Let me take a look."
"No need," Summer, halfway through handing over the phone, quickly pulled it back again. She worried that Justin Huxley might call, and if it led to another misunderstanding, "It’s just that, considering your usual conduct, tampering with the phone seems like something you’d do, no other meaning, don’t overthink it."
"I haven’t overthought anything, but you seem worried that I might overthink," Maxim Sinclair moved beside her, his gaze subtly lingering on the phone, "What’s up with this phone? You don’t seem to want me to touch it?"
"Are you that curious?"
Summer suddenly got angry and tossed the phone into his lap, "If you’re curious, take it. You have so many capable people around you, take it and disassemble it. Study what’s inside."
"Look at your temper, I just asked casually, is it necessary to be so angry?" Maxim Sinclair looked bewildered, but where Summer couldn’t see, his eyes were full of amusement.
"Fine." Maxim Sinclair returned the phone to Summer, "With you getting so angry, I dare not take it again."
After getting the phone back, Maxim showed no intention of leaving, and Summer felt secretly anxious.
Today, her call with Justin Huxley was cut short because of a dead battery, and when she called back, Justin was busy.
Justin was sure to call again, and if he called while the phone happened to be in Maxim’s hands, it would be hard to explain later.
So, while Maxim wasn’t paying attention, Summer put the phone on silent, slipped it into her pocket, then picked up a jewelry magazine and stood by the window, absentmindedly flipping through it.
Maxim Sinclair could tell her mind wasn’t on the book in her hand, and he knew exactly why Summer was distracted.
Sensing a bit of mischief, Maxim deliberately moved closer to Summer, obviously unwilling to leave, just to see her distracted and anxious.
Her demeanor was indeed amusing, but thinking about who was on her mind made Maxim uncomfortable.
"Looking at jewelry magazines again? If you’re so interested in jewelry design, why not keep trying to work? You don’t seem like someone who’d want to stay home as a housewife," Maxim remarked.
Summer looked up at him: "If I could find a job, would I be sitting here with a magazine every day? Besides, even if I wanted to go out, would you let me?"
Maxim laughed, stroking his chin, "There’s a perfect solution."
Summer knew exactly what his so-called perfect solution meant.
"I still say, if you really care about me, then help clear my name as soon as possible. Just that one thing, and I’d owe you for life. Of course, if you don’t want to help, that’s okay too, since I already owe you a lot more."
"Your accounting is so precise, it makes me uncomfortable," Maxim Sinclair casually remarked, "You should know the job I offered you is something even Stellart’s headquarters can’t match."
Precisely because she knew what he offered wouldn’t be subpar, Summer resisted it so much.
She didn’t want to have deeper ties with Maxim Sinclair.
"No matter what you say, I won’t accept that studio you offered. Just give it up," Summer tossed the jewelry magazine aside since she couldn’t focus anyway, and it was obvious that Maxim wasn’t leaving her alone. So there was no point pretending. "You keep hanging around me; what are you trying to say? You’re making me dizzy and annoyed. Can you just be straightforward?"
"There’s indeed something," Maxim Sinclair said, straightening up and sitting across from her, "I’ve already arranged for the company’s legal team to sue Tina Huxley."
"Sue her?" Summer quickly thought of Sheryl, "Is designer Sheryl involved too?"
Maxim nodded, "Including all those media outlets that exaggerated it. I have solid evidence and will definitely win."
"Evidence against the media too?" Summer belatedly realized, "You knew from the start I was framed, and you knew who was behind it?"
Seeing her confrontational look, Maxim Sinclair amusingly shook his head, then looked up and asked Summer, "Do you need me to remind you that you always believed I was the one framing you? Every time you saw me, you looked so hostile, as if you wanted to kill me. Do you think, under those circumstances, with my temper, I would hand the evidence to you?"
"With your temper... it’s fortunate you didn’t make it worse for me," Summer even joked with him, then leaned in seriously, "Honestly, don’t lie to me. Do you really have that much evidence?"
"I won’t lie, the legal team will come to the house tomorrow to discuss suing those who framed you, step by step." As he spoke, Maxim’s gaze flicked to Summer’s phone again, "If nothing unexpected happens, the news has already reached the Huxley family. Hasn’t your dear senior come to you to plead for her yet?"
Yet another scenario where she might have to choose between Tina Huxley and Summer Lowell, how interesting.
