Consequences of Dumping the Obsessive Boss: Stuck with Him Forever-Chapter 266: This Is What Happens When You Mess With Me
Pretending to sleep, Summer Lowell had no choice but to open her eyes, looking at Maxim Sinclair, who was pressing on her: "You’ve been so busy lately, go to sleep early and stop fussing around."
"It’s precisely because I’m tired that I need some effective exercise besides sleeping," Maxim slowly lowered himself, lightly biting Summer’s earlobe, warm breath cascading past her ear. "Looks like you’re not sleepy at all, how about we tire ourselves out a bit before sleeping?"
Not wanting to fuss more, Summer pushed against his chest, turning her head to the side, her face full of refusal: "But I’m really tired, I just want to sleep now."
"Lying again, you know I can tell when you’re lying, right?" Maxim pulled the blanket up, silencing Summer’s words of protest.

In the morning, Summer was dragged downstairs by Maxim to have breakfast.
Summer’s protests were of no use all the way down.
"The housekeeper has complained to me, you’ve been sleeping until the afternoon without eating. If you keep this up, your body will collapse. Have breakfast with me first, then you can digest and go back to sleep. I’ll have someone call you down for meals on time."
Maxim dragged her all the way to the dining table and pressed her onto a chair by the table: "Alright, eat."
Woken up early and dragged here after washing up, Summer no longer felt sleepy. Supporting her face with her hand, she silently emanated resentment.
Assistant Collins came downstairs right when he saw Summer sitting at the table, staring off into space.
He greeted Summer and then approached Maxim: "President Sinclair, I just received a call, there’s been a problem with the project."
Hearing this, Summer’s heart tightened. Had Justin Huxley acted so quickly?
It was just yesterday he got wind on the phone, and today he’s already taken action?
In contrast to Assistant Collins’s panic, Maxim remained calm: "No rush, we’ll discuss the project at a company meeting after breakfast."
As he spoke, he even served Summer some porridge.
Summer glanced at the unworried Maxim, took the spoon, served a bowl herself, and pushed it in front of him: "Hurry up and eat so you can get on with your work, I don’t need you to take care of me."
Maxim gave her a deep look and accepted the porridge with a smile: "Alright, thank you."
Assistant Collins watched from the side, careful not to show too much emotion.
Twenty minutes later, Maxim and Assistant Collins left Varden Villa, and Summer, who was quietly having breakfast at the table, put down her chopsticks and went back upstairs.
For the next three days, Summer didn’t see Maxim return home.
The housekeeper, worried about Maxim’s situation, came upstairs several times to ask Summer when he would return.
Initially, Summer always called Assistant Collins upon being questioned, but under Maxim’s instructions, Assistant Collins never gave a definite answer, only saying Maxim couldn’t leave work at the company.
By the afternoon of the third day, the housekeeper came again, especially suggesting Summer call Maxim directly to ask herself.
The excuses used the past two days were no longer effective, so Summer had no choice but to call Maxim, but unfortunately, he didn’t answer.
She felt a vague sense of unease.
The worry grew stronger.
After the housekeeper left, Summer deliberated for a while and then called Justin Huxley.
This call was picked up quickly.
"How are things on your end?"
Justin’s voice was full of amusement: "Thanks to you, Summer, I’ve acquired the Verdane land. Didn’t you see the news? Sinclair Group’s board meeting is today, Maxim’s likely to get lambasted. Can’t imagine how someone so high and mighty looks getting criticized."
Justin’s happiness grew, eventually leading to a laugh that made it hard for Summer to hear what he was saying.
Finally, once he stopped laughing, he weirdly said: "You’ve done me such a big favor, I ought to repay you well. You’ll need a lot of money when you leave here, to resettle, find a house, a job. Name your price, and I’ll give it all to you at once."
"No need, I don’t want it," Summer categorically refused. "If you truly have spare money, donate it in my name to the orphanage. I just called to check on your progress, not to demand payment. That’s it, I need to catch up on sleep, goodbye."
With that, she hung up, leaving an astounded Justin staring at his darkened phone screen. After a long while, he muttered: "It’s even more interesting than I imagined."
Top floor of Sinclair Group, Chairman’s office.
Assistant Collins led a group inside, with Maxim standing at the floor-to-ceiling windows, hands behind his back, staring into the distance, seemingly deep in thought.
Assistant Collins led the group quietly, standing behind without daring to disturb.
Until Maxim acknowledged their presence: "When did you all get here? Why didn’t you say something?"
"You seemed deep in thought, I didn’t dare to interrupt," Assistant Collins smiled, directing everyone to sit in the nearby conference area, distributing pre-prepared materials from the table behind.
Maxim took a set of materials, sitting at the head, looked around, and got straight to it: "You’ve all seen this morning’s financial news, right? Justin Huxley pulled a clever move, acquiring the Verdane land."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"As long as we’re on the same page," Maxim opened a document. "The focus of this meeting is how we can swallow up Old Master Huxley’s Omni Group."
Mentioning this roused everyone’s spirits.
Especially Assistant Collins, whose every expression was filled with delight. When Maxim noticed this, he jokingly remarked: "Your workload might increase because of this, are you really that happy?"
"Of course I’m happy, given it’s almost year-end and my bonus will double because of this. Why wouldn’t I be?" Assistant Collins candidly expressed his thoughts, lightening the mood.
"Well then, work hard, and the year-end bonus won’t be an issue."
The meeting continued until nearly the end of the workday.
Left behind, Assistant Collins patiently waited beside Maxim, who was engrossed in his phone.
Maxim looked up from his phone: "She called Justin Huxley today to inquire about the progress, but when Justin offered her a monetary reward, she refused?"
This "she" referred to Summer.
Assistant Collins paused for a moment: "President Sinclair, what are you planning? Madam might be truly intending to leave this time."
"Stick to the original plan, let them enjoy for a few days, and once everything’s settled, I’ll deal with her personally."
