Criminal X : Epitome Of Evil-Chapter 574: The One Thing He Couldn’t Refuse
Pablo was the last evil in Seraphim. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Cupid argued with Altor to not think like that, to know that Pablo was now a changed man. But Altor simply asked Pablo about it.
He asked Pablo directly if he was a good man, Pablo didn't lie and answered honestly. He told Altor that he wasn't a good man.
By that, the case of the Gods was clear and Cupid could argue nothing about it. Also, the things Pablo had done, it can't just go away unpunished. He was the Epitome Of Evil after all.
After knowing that he was the last evil, Pablo asked Altor what would happen now. At that, Altor simply said one thing:
"You should die."
Cupid's mouth went agape.
Altor said that with clear distaste as if he was also sad for saying something like that to Pablo.
Pablo saw it coming as well so he just smiled.
"I won't die, Altor. I survived so many things. I won't die." He outright refused. For him, nothing mattered now but he still refused to die. Why was that?
Altor had the same question so he asked, "Why? Why are you so against dying? Every time someone mentioned your death back in Seraphim, you always said I won't die. Why? Are you afraid of dying, Pablo?"
Pablo sighed. "You can say that. I just don't want to die. Dying is a shame for me. If death isn't memorable then I don't want it. I can never accept death, Altor. Even on earth, I was captured by that Chief only because I was old. My body has given up on me. Otherwise, no one would have been able to capture me at all."
Altor gave a slow nod and went silent.
He put his fingers on his lips and thought about something.
Eventually, he spoke:
"So Pablo Castillo won't die?"
Pablo nodded. "Yes. And if you tried to kill me then your temples would blow up."
"I know that. But if I remember right, you said nothing matters anymore. So why does dying matters? Just sleep and be done with it. You shall be in rest. Away from the world." Altor asked.
"I won't die. I may be a wreck right now but I am not choosing death. If you want I can promise you that I won't do any evil deeds from now on. I will live in harmony with everyone. Just fulfill my wishes, Altor." Pablo said. And he might have said all this in a normal tone but Altor had sensed pleading. Pablo didn't want to die so in return he was promising Altor that he'd be a good man, hoping to the best of his limits that the God of death agreed to him.
But there was a reason some people hated the Gods.
"That won't work, Pablo. You have to die."
Pablo clenched his fist. Words came to his throat but before he could pour them out, Altor raised his hand.
"But seeing what you did for us Gods, I will do you a favor."
Pablo raised one of his brows. "What favor?"
Altor looked into Pablo's eyes. "I will revive your Sera."
Pablo's heart skipped a beat.
"You will do that?"
Altor nodded. He looked at the other Gods and all of them exchanged nods.
Altor then focused on Pablo again.
"Yes. I will revive her. She shall live again."
Pablo's heart found thumpings it never found for this past year.
But he knew it wouldn't come for free.
"What do I have to do for that?" He asked.
Altor sighed. "The same thing I said. The price is the same."
Pablo coughed.
"My death?"
The Gods nodded.
"Yes." All of them said at the same time.
Pablo looked around, his eyes stayed at Cupid for a few seconds and the Angel had tears in her eyes.
Pablo smiled seeing that and looked at Altor again.
"Make her alive first. And make me watch. I won't believe you." He said.
Altor shrugged and snapped his fingers.
A crystal ball appeared in front of Pablo and on it the scene of the King's dining hall was present.
Sera floated in the air, basked in a white light, her eyes still closed.
Pablo watched her only for a few seconds as if he watched her more, he shall find things in his eyes he doesn't like.
"Revive her. Do it." He shouted.
Altor smiled. "First, your death."
Pablo gritted his teeth.
"What if you didn't revive her after my death? What is the guarantee of your word? I won't be able to see you after my death. Give me proof!"
Altor laughed. "Suspicious as ever, you are, Pablo."
"I don't give a fuck. Revive her." Pablo only wanted this.
The Gods laughed some more and before Pablo could lash out on them, Altor said:
"The moment your soul starts leaving your body, she will revive. Just agree to die and you shall see her moving again for only a few seconds though, as you will die after that. And I am not lying. I will revive her. Believe me. She died saving you. Her sins were washed away by this deed of hers. She gave her life for someone else and that made her as pure as a child. She shall live, Pablo. Believe me."
Pablo sensed genuinity in Altor's voice so he calmed down.
But now laid the biggest exam in front of him.
Dying.
How can he die?
How can Pablo Castillo, who had survived the worst of the worst, die?
But when his eyes fell on Sera, he came out of his own thoughts.
The girl inside the crystal ball, she had died and she had died smiling. And for someone else at that. And here? Pablo was bitching about his own death.
Pablo didn't like this part of himself and with only Sera in his eyes, he shot his gaze at Altor.
Altor caught his gaze and seeing the seriousness, he became serious as well.
The silence returned in the bright castle.
Altor stared at Pablo and Pablo wasted no time…
"Kill me."
He was ready to die.
