Cultivation Simulator: Shocking the Academy-Chapter 534 - 387: How many times has the Heavenly Father created the world, and the legend of Immortals?
The dying sunset stained the entire horizon with a touch of poignant crimson. The twilight's afterglow gradually dimmed, as if foreshadowing that the impending night would take away all light. Against this backdrop, Qing Ling pressed his lips tightly, his expression dazed, as if his soul were lost. The surrounding Daoists glared angrily, their faces filled with a complex and hard-to-understand mix of fear and anger.
Qing Ling knew full well what fate awaited him after all that had happened today. At the thought of this, he shivered, a nameless dread rising within him. His mind was already blank, unable even to feel the biting chill of the mountain wind, as though his entire being had fallen into a state of utter despair.
It was at this time that a white-robed stranger suddenly appeared in everyone's sight. He looked at the wooden fragments floating in the stream, a meaningful smile spreading across his face, then shook his head, as if mocking himself for being drawn into this deception by these two Eastern Realm people.
"Interesting, interesting," the white-robed stranger chuckled, breaking the silence, "I truly underestimated these two from the Eastern Realm, even I was drawn into their play."
Among those present, the white-robed stranger perhaps was the most shocked. Unlike Qing Ling, the Carefree Wanderer, and the Grandmaster Wang's dispatched experts, who were more terrified, they were frightened by the "Upper Immortal's" divine methods and worried about the Immortal's wrath in anger. They had initially believed without doubt that the two young people were Upper Immortals descended from the Immortal Realm, but now their amazement had long been replaced by deep regret.
However, the white-robed stranger knew better; he understood seven to eight parts of Luo Chen and Ouyang Qian's origins. He was aware that these two from the Eastern Realm had pitifully low cultivation, and in a real fight, they likely wouldn't be a match even for ordinary Inner Sect Disciples. Yet they used the facade of Immortal status to scam into free food and drink on Celestial Battle Mountain, making a group of experts compliant. Such boldness wouldn't be possible without some intelligence and ingenuity. This courage and wisdom slightly surprised the white-robed stranger, for without cunning, mere brute courage isn't enough to succeed.
Earlier, when the people of Celestial Battle Mountain set a deadly trap to kill the two youths from the Eastern Realm at Cloud Valley Stream, even the white-robed stranger thought their demise was imminent. Yet, who would have thought these two youths had long sensed the crisis but remained calm, performing a play to deceive the Snake Demon? This composure and wit earned the white-robed stranger's admiration.
At this moment, the white-robed stranger looked at Qing Ling and others' terrified and angry expressions, secretly smiling to himself. He knew the tricks of these two Eastern Realm youngsters were far from over, and the climax of this act hadn't arrived. So he decided to keep watching, to see what other tricks these two youngsters might play.
Recalling the scene on the bamboo building, a warmth surged in the white-robed stranger's heart. The young boy and girl sat feigning anger alone, ignoring each other, seemingly ready to sever all ties. To him, this scene was a long-lost familiarity and warmth.
Long ago, there was also a woman whose heart synchronized with his, every move reflecting deep tacit understanding. Then, just like the young pair on the bamboo building, they had their quarrels but were bound by inexpressible deep affection. However, time is an unkind blade, severing their bond and making those beautiful memories unreachable.
The white-robed stranger sighed softly, his thoughts pulled back to reality. Remembering being teased by the youthful pair, he couldn't help but smile faintly. During their foray indoors to fetch food, they cleverly swapped puppets, making everyone believe something incredible had happened. Even he was fooled by these two mischievous kids.
The man opened his eyes, not revealing an angry expression but rather deep interest. He mused, "It seems they swapped the puppets while fetching food indoors, making fools of us all… including me."
His gaze searched around for the little tricksters' figures, only to find they had vanished without a trace. Just then, he noticed the Celestial Fighter lifting the cloth on the bamboo basket, staring blankly at a note inside. A thought crossed his mind as he exhaled, sending a gust of wind to snag the note, which flew unsteadily before him.
Picking up the note, he saw a line of delicate script: "You take my life, I take your treasure." The man recited the line in a low voice, a playful smile appearing on his face. He turned and left, his anticipation for this game growing. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
Meanwhile, at the Treasure Pavilion atop Celestial Battle Mountain, the boy and girl were rifling through hidden troves. As they selected treasures, they chatted leisurely about previous events.
"That black snake really thought we were dumb enough not to see through her tricks," the girl snickered, "I'm long tired of such cliched plots."
"Indeed," the boy concurred, "A Snake Demon knowing so many secrets yet blabbering them all out is indeed suspicious."
They exchanged smiles, for to them, Qing Ling's acting was too fake, not even as convincing as the actors in Da Kuo's theater. Yet, they both had seen through the deception and didn't feel proud, merely treating it as an enjoyable game.
"But speaking of which," the girl suddenly changed the subject, "our main goal in coming to the Treasure Pavilion isn't just to watch plays."
"True that," the boy replied, "we need to quickly find that item and leave this place."
They continued searching the Treasure Pavilion's collection, hoping to find their target quickly, all the while remaining covertly vigilant of possible danger; this adventure game was far from over.
After a long while, the boy suddenly pulled out a yellowed book from a pile of ancient texts, his eyes lighting up, "Found it! This is what we've been looking for."
The girl leaned over at his voice, her face lighting up with delight at the sight of the book, "Great, we've finally found it. Let's hurry and get out of here."
Cautiously, they tucked the book away, preparing to leave the Treasure Pavilion. Yet as they were about to step out, a powerful aura suddenly surged through, shaking the entire pavilion.
"Who?" The boy and girl immediately turned their alert gazes to where the aura originated, only to see a figure slowly emerge from the shadows.
"Haha, you two little rascals are genuinely something," the newcomer was none other than the white-robed stranger they had tricked earlier, "to actually make it here and find this treasure."
"What do you want?" the girl coldly asked, secretly preparing for battle.
"Oh, nothing much," the white-robed stranger smiled, "just curious to see how capable you two little brats really are. Now, it seems, you're indeed remarkable."
Saying this, he extended his palm toward the two, the force of his attack causing the surrounding air to solidify. The boy and girl exchanged a glance and dodged the attack in a flash.
"Nice reflexes," the white-robed stranger praised, "but it won't be so simple from here on."
