Cybernetic Evolution System-Chapter 44: Grand Avalon Academy Dungeon Service Nurses (2)
The other services nurses were probably making the best use of their time, attending to other matters.
Ezekiel was abnormal.
After investigating his background, they discovered the reasons behind his suicidal behaviour.
They realised that they couldn’t personally interfere in this matter, so they quickly recommended therapy for his well-being.
But he had rejected it.
Even his nurse had assured them that it wasn’t needed.
They realised that his nurse wasn’t normal either.
Still, their responsibility was to ensure a student’s safety within the dungeon and minimising casualties.
Carefully monitoring a student’s healthiness was none of their business.
They assumed that as the first term came to an end, Ezekiel would cease his suicidal behaviour.
But.. nothing changed.
Ezekiel didn’t stop his suicide training attempts.
He became borderline insane.
While others prepared for the end of the term’s ranking exams, Ezekiel bled, like he had blood in stockpiles.
They kept their advice to themselves because they could do nothing more but await his inevitable death.
To their surprise, he had defeated the top-ranked magical swordsman in Class Three.
Even if it came at the expense of damaging his body, it was an incredible achievement that few could ever dream of.
They realised that his hard work was finally starting to pay off.
"Haa... I hope it’s not that boy or else I’ll kill him myself," Tiana said, sighing weary.
"Calm down, can’t you discern our current location?" James quickly said, his brows twitching in annoyance, "Unless you want to get all of us in trouble, you shouldn’t carelessly mention killing a student in public."
"Besides, I don’t think that we’ve been summoned here for Ezekiel. From the last rumour I heard about him, he has been recuperating in the hospital for over a week. Nurse Cynthia has blocked all access to him to prevent anyone from trying to harm him while he’s recovering."
James stretched his hand and tapped his fingers against the table.
"Captain, what do you think? Have you received any information about whom we’ve been summoned here for?" James turned to a man sitting across from them at the other side of the table.
Like both of them, he wore a white navy dress, consisting of a white jacket and trousers. On his left chest was a badge that read -
Lawrence. Grade: One star.
Lawrence looked at James. He opened his mouth to respond, but swiftly sealed his lips shut. His eyes widened in shock as he stared into the distance.
"Captain.. you there?" James added with a frown. He stretched his right hand across the wooden table and waved it over his face.
Seeing that Lawrence wasn’t responding, James followed his gaze in the direction behind him.
In an instant, his expression twisted into disbelief.
"Hey, what’s wrong with you guys?" Tiana asked, frowning as she noticed the strange scene unfolding in front of her.
"Tiana, look behind you," James responded, his tone quivering with uncertainty.
He grabbed her chin with his left hand and turned her head to look behind.
Just like the others, her eyes widened in a mixture of shock and disbelief.
In their line of vision stood a young man with dark chocolate skin. He wore a buzz cut and possessed striking golden irises. His golden eyes didn’t just look at you but felt like they were analysing, calculating and made you feel exposed.
His outfit consisted of a navy blue shirt paired with trousers of the same colour, topped with a fitted black military-style jacket adorned with silver embroidery.
On the left side of the jacket was the insignia of the Magical Swordman department, depicting a blazing sword enveloped in a cloudy mist.
A sword was sheathed by the side of the left side of his waist, and a storage bag hung on the other side.
He wore a pair of sturdy black combat boots and black fingerless gloves, and on his right hand was an old, rusted black ring. Slight scars were on his knuckles and were visible beneath his jaw.
Ezekiel Zahara!
If they were plasma collectors, then he was their frequent blood donor.
They didn’t need a banner to recognise him.
However, they couldn’t help but scrutinise him deeply to ensure that he was really the one.
Ezekiel had just stepped through the door leading to the teleportation platform that led to the dungeon. Yet there were no blood stains on his body.
No severe injuries needing a revival kit.
He was calmly discussing with the robotic receptionist.
It was as though he had just taken an evening stroll within the dungeon.
Information had spread across the academy that Ezekiel had sustained a gruesome injury that could leave him bedridden for weeks.
Although he might be able to return to class, it didn’t mean that he had fully recovered and could return to the dungeon to take on tasks.
Maybe he hadn’t trained in the dungeon today. They doubted.
Their minds, which had been racing like a speeding train, came to a halt as a holographic black curtain materialised from the ground surrounding Ezekiel and the robotic receptionist.
Their figures were obscured within it.
Tiana was the first to react. She swallowed hard. "Oh, maybe it’s not him. Someone might be cosplaying as him," She suggested, prying her lips open with some difficult.
James and Lawrence snapped out of their daze.
Seeing as James was about to speak, Tiana swiftly injected.
"Don’t you dare utter a word?! If you see me enjoying a plate of beef on a Sunday morning, would you think that someone is cosplaying as me?" She asked.
James held back his words and nodded.
"Good," Tiana’s words rose a few more decibels as she spoke. "If you see the captain dressed in a suit, holding a bouquet of flowers and confessing to a wo..."
Before Tiana could finish her sentence -
"It’s him," Lawrence interrupted, narrowing his gaze at the holographic curtain that obscured the familiar figure of a young man within.
"I sensed his mana signature. I’m familiar with it at this point. Although it seems strange, I can’t uncover anything wrong with it, but I’m certain that it’s him."
