DC: A New Beginning-Chapter 52: Fix

A yellow lantern ring was bursting full of fear energy and shot out rapidly from the antimatter universe.

The unusual rift in the sky finally terrified the residents of Metropolis, and the people on the streets were terrified enough to run away screaming.

Viktor raised his hand to the sky again.

The old lantern ring that had been ruthlessly dismantled by Batman earlier shattered completely as its energy ran out.

The yellow light exploded, and a dark-pink-skinned figure elegantly folded his arms and slowly flew out of the tear.

The rift quickly closed behind him.

As the leader of the Sinestro Corps, Sinestro had always been arrogant.

He came to recruit Viktor with no intention of bringing any extra lanterns along, but maybe it wouldn’t matter how many he brought with Superman around.

Sinestro opened his arms and looked with satisfaction at Viktor, who now wore a suit with the yellow symbol.

"Come, shout the oath of the Legion of Fear. The ring should have already taught you by now!"

There was a silent pause for three seconds with no response.

The only sound was the Flash’s broken screams as his eyes rolled back, and he lost control.

Viktor glanced at the yellow lantern uniform on his body and scoffed.

"Fear as the source, and you’re in charge? What a load of garbage."

He looked at Rachel, who still hadn’t fully controlled the wild magic inside her, and then stared seriously at the increasingly crazy Flash.

Superman let out a sudden breath of relief. He thought Viktor would be immediately controlled by the fully charged yellow lantern ring in his hand.

If that had happened, Metropolis would have been in for a disaster.

Sinestro clearly hadn’t expected someone to wear the yellow lantern ring without being consumed by fear, and his shock quickly turned into anger.

"Young man, too much arrogance is not a good—"

"IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!"

The Flash was completely out of control, vibrated at a high speed, and slipped out of Superman’s grip before charging straight at Viktor.

The fear spectrum amplified around Viktor, and he finally managed to see the golden blur clearly.

He twisted his body and barely dodged the handblade aiming for his heart once again.

The attack still pierced a deep wound between his ribs, but he ignored the pain. He swung his left fist hard at the Flash’s head.

’I don’t need to hold back. This Flash was trying to kill me .’

Viktor couldn’t care less whether the man who saved him was observing in the shadows.

If the man really cared about him at all, he could step in and stop the mad speedster himself.

A completely insane Flash was honestly one of the most dangerous things he ever seen in countless comic books or movies from the past.

The rapid phasing caused Viktor’s punch to miss completely.

The force of the missed blow exploded forward, and the shockwave alone flipped every car on the street and shattered windows in buildings for blocks around.

Superman was about to act when he saw Reverse Flash already running off with the somewhat unstable girl at a safe distance.

He handled her with surprising, almost weird, carefulness and gently set Rachel down on a bench by the side of the street.

Then Reverse Flash crossed his arms, leaned against a lamppost, and calmly continued watching.

"I’ll take care of her. Superman, you deal with the one in the sky."

The Flash lunged forward, phasing his entire arm through Viktor’s torso.

"Ugh, gross~"

Viktor couldn’t describe what it felt like to have a speedster phase through his body, but it was definitely disgusting.

"Please, Viktor, I beg you, don’t fight here!"

Superman shouted once before flying up to face Sinestro, whose face had turned dark with rage.

"Do I need to ask you to leave?"

Sinestro’s lips twitched slightly.

The feeling of being ignored by a recruit and looked down upon by Superman made the veins on his pink forehead bulge in anger.

The rift to the antimatter universe reopened, and this time, countless Yellow Lanterns rushed out of the antimatter rift.

"Don’t overestimate yourself, Superman!"

After checking around his body, Viktor shot into the air.

No matter whether that man was paying attention to him, Viktor always pretended the other person was there.

The earlier punch he threw to the Flash made him feel like Viktor understood something important.

’I need to switch to self-defense to avoid wrecking all of Metropolis. Thankfully, the Flash can’t fly.’

Viktor confirmed that the Flash’s phasing didn’t cause harm to anything as he passed through.

The wound in his ribs quickly healed under the yellow glow of the lantern light.

Suddenly, a chain of explosions sounded behind him.

Viktor turned around and saw golden lightning bouncing through the air, coming toward him with each leap.

"FIX!"

"MUST BE FIXED!! "

As the Flash gradually adjusted to this bizarre way of moving through the air, Flash’s every jump was getting faster and faster.

"This..."

There was no more time to think about protecting the city.

He spun his body around as his eyes immediately went blank, as he fully entered the mindset of a Viltrumite.

In the next instant, Viktor exploded the air around him, charging straight at the Flash.

The Flash phased again, and Viktor passed right through him.

After a quick stop in mid-air, Viktor turned around and frowned as he saw the Flash drop slightly.

It seemed like he found the Flash’s weakness.

Flash’s phasing couldn’t allow him to push against the air, and stepping on the air couldn’t allow him to phase.

"It seems like chasing me into the sky was a totally wrong decision. How brainless can you be?"

A cruel smile tugged at the corner of Viktor’s mouth.

"Now, show me how fast you can switch between those two states."

Before the Flash could even start pursuing his figure, Viktor increased his speed and charged at him again.

Even though the Flash was acting wildly, it was clear that he didn’t want to die, especially not at his hands.

Flash seemed to have some twisted sense of purpose driving him.

As they were about to collide, Flash hurriedly stopped stepping on the air, phasing just in time to avoid the punch, but he dropped slightly again.

In the next second, Viktor was able to sharply turn and strike again.

The Flash phased once more to avoid the punch, but as he fell, Viktor hit him again in just half a second.

By now, the two of them were over three thousand meters up in the sky.

Viktor kept increasing his speed, turning into a streak of flashing yellow light that surrounded the Flash.

As the space kept shrinking, Viktor’s attacks became faster and faster.

The yellow light filled the shrinking space around the Flash, like a tightening cage, and there was less and less room to move.

The Flash had no choice but to keep falling. He no longer had the opportunity to phase mid-air.

One thousand meters.

Five hundred.

One hundred.

The madness in his eyes faded for a brief moment.

He understood his situation. He either had to keep phasing until he fell into the ground... or...

"No..." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

Flash said in despair, and fear enveloped him.

"Please..."

He gritted his teeth and didn’t want to die from the fall.

He stepped on the air once more.

"Bang!"

Viktor finally stopped and was covered in blood, flesh, and broken bones.

The cold emptiness in Viktor’s eyes disappeared.

"It looks like I’m safe again."

In the shadows of Metropolis, Eris, who had somehow come back to life, clenched her teeth in frustration.

After everything she’d learned about Viktor in the divine realm, Eris didn’t dare to directly confront him.

"I went to all that trouble to use discord to manipulate some random speedster who showed up out of nowhere!"

Opportunities like this were extraordinarily rare.

The Speed Force granted speedsters a mental processing speed that means mental manipulation magic usually doesn’t work on them.
