Chapter 218: Chapter 218

It was almost dark when the trio left the village. Though the chief invited them to stay a few more days, they couldn’t as the deadline was near.

They took three days to arrive instead of two days, and then the trio ended the slavers and the bandits, their actual mission. Five days had passed, and two days would be what it would take for them to return to the academy, as long as nothing out of the ordinary happened during their journey and nothing delays them.

It means they would only have three days.

After clearing out the bandits, the previous day, they stayed the night and participated in the celebration party that the village threw.

They stayed behind because the trio had not counted the loot, and it was almost dusk. So, starting now didn’t feel good for them.

When they went through the loot, the trio found some disturbing things. These needed to be handed over to the authorities that would be arriving from Woodstone City the next day.

In addition to what they found, the Chief found a lot of information that has to be handed over to the authorities.

The villagers looted everything and gave it to the chief to check. As he was going through the loot, he came across a diary of one of the slavers, where it was noted that the villagers that the trio just saved are for the Cults.

The Cults asked the slavers for a lot of slaves. It was usual, but recently the demand number has gone up.

When the number was low, they could have provided the required slaves by kidnapping loners, or someone who ventured out into secluded places. This way, they kept themselves safe, but with the increase in demand, they had to tie up with the bandits.

The slavers provided some resources for the bandits to attack the villages and get the people there. With the Alliance tied up with the Cults and the Monsters, they figured that it would take a long time before anyone would respond for help.

Unlucky for them, the trip took the mission to eliminate a group of bandits and in doing so eliminated a few slavers along with the bandits. If it were anyone else, they would have faltered, but with Aaron in the group, though the intelligence was wrong, the bandit group was eliminated easily.

Though that was the case, Aaron has no interest in telling about that to others. He was the one who faced the leader, while the girls faced the vice-leaders. So, no one other than him has any idea about the true power of the bandit leader, and he decided that would remain so.

In the morning, after they defeated the bandits and slavers, city officials arrived. They used some cars and were able to return quickly.

When they arrived, the Village Chief took them to his own house as the Village Hall at the moment was occupied. There, he showed them the intelligence that they gained from the slavers, along with the information regarding the bandits.

Aaron found notes clearly describing everything that they did from the start. It belonged to one of the vice-leaders. Unlike the leader and other vice-leaders who was all brawn, this vice-leader was clever. It was why he became a vice-leader, though he was weak.

He meticulously written every raid that they did and how they made it. There were even notes regarding the deal with the slavers.

From the Slavers, there was information regarding the deal that they made. Every bandit group that made a deal with this group of slavers was mentioned. There was even a map of their destinations.

The officials were surprised to know that the Cults were involved in this, but they understood that the slaves were for experiments, which are banned.

The officials, after noting the details of the rescued, promising the chief and the villagers that relief would be sent from the city, left the city.

The trio left along with the officials. They boarded the vehicles and drove them to the city. With so many vehicles, they had a lot of space.

The Village chief has sold them the officials all the vehicles, except for a car and a truck, to the officials. In this world, vehicles are needed for faster travel. So, they decided to keep a minimum requirement. There was no need to keep all, as they would just gather rust. It would be a waste of resources.

Selling them would give them some capital to develop the village.

At least that was what the Chief came to understand from Aaron. He was the one who told him to sell the vehicles, except for one car and truck.

The truck would be used to transport goods to and from the village, while the car can be used to visit the city when they need to. It’s very convenient and faster than walking or using a beast to travel.

"So, what are you going to do?" one of the officials asked as they dropped the trio after they entered the city.

"It’s dark. So, we would find an Inn and leave in the morning", Aaron spoke.

"Hmm, we can arrange a few beds for the night to sleep", the officer said.

"Thank you, but there was no need. It may appear that we did a heroic deed, but all we did was complete a mission, and for that we would get our rewards when we return to the academy", Aaron refused the offer.

To them, the trio were future potential powerhouses. Making a connection with them might be beneficial to them, and so he offered to provide beds for the night.

In fact, he wanted to throw a small feast for them, but Aaron could sense that the official was not sincere. He wouldn’t have lifted an eye to look at the trio if not for the fact that they eliminated the bandits and a few slavers, curbing a few movements of the Cults.

The Cults wouldn’t face any issue due to the loss of a channel here, as they would have a lot of channels like this, for whatever purpose, but this was a great achievement for a student of the academy, especially a first-year student.

So, the official wanted to make connections with them.

If the official was genuine, maybe Aaron would have considered the offer, but he could feel the greed oozing off of him. Such individuals are problematic, and it’s best to stay away from them as much as possible.

---

Leaving the officials, the trio soon found an Inn to stay, where they refreshed a bit before dinner.

After that, the trio wrote a report regarding the bandits, stating that they were dealing with slavers who were selling the people to the cults. In addition to that, they also wrote what happened.

Aaron skipped that the bandit leader was a Rank-3. The intelligence reports stated that he was Rank-2, and he let them think that the intelligence was not wrong.

If he says otherwise, everyone would get interested in him. He was not powerful enough to face such scrutiny at this point. One day, the world would see his power at its full strength, but that day has yet to arrive.

After having dinner, they went to sleep in their respective rooms. Unlike their stay before, this time, there were three rooms available. So, each took one to sleep for the night.
