Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 241
Chapter 241: Chapter 241
City Guard HQ...
After arriving at the City Guard HQ, it didn’t take long for Aaron to figure out why he was summoned here.
Noah.
It was because of him, Aaron was summoned before the council of the City Guard. This council is present for one purpose and one purpose only, to judge the soldiers who fail in their duties.
In a battle, a soldier has to obey the orders of their superior or else everything would fall into disarray, and they might lose the battle due to the chaos.
Of course, if the commander was deliberately creating a scenario where they would die, even if there was a chance that they could live, then disobeying the orders would not be considered a crime.
So the council was present to check all the evidence of what happened, and see if the defendant was right to disobey the orders or not.
---
Aaron was summoned here because, though all the students were ordered to be in place to fight the cult members, Aaron left after some time, only later to be found out that he destroyed the ritual.
In the end, that didn’t matter much to them, as they still summoned him for disobeying his captain’s orders and doing things his own way.
Aaron understood that fact and that angered him, but he decided to sit and listen for a while, and see where this would be leading to.
"He has disobeyed the orders from his superiors. So, he needs to be punished", Noah spoke, giving Aaron a stink eye.
Hearing those words, most understood what Noah was trying to do, especially the teammates of the group. They had seen Noah giving a hard time to Aaron on purpose. Noah would find mistakes, even when there are no mistakes.
From the looks of it, some members were clearly not happy about Aaron. Some of their friends died in the attack, and they need someone to blame, and Noah brought that scapegoat.
It was not just that, there was greed in their eyes.
Aaron destroyed the ritual, and thereby saved a lot of lives. So, he would be the Hero of the City, and that means he would get a lot of benefits, and some were trying to eat those benefits up. To do that, the only way is to make Aaron into a criminal.
Aaron could see what most of the council was thinking and he had enough with this bullshit.
He rose from his seat, "Shut your damn mouth", he shouted as he released pressure on to Noah, who succumed and fell onto the floor.
"Since the day I was assigned, you have been giving me a hard time for no reason. I know you have a reason for doing this, and that was that you were jealous that I am more talented than you. I attained first position for myself and also brought our academy to the second rank in the Inter-academy tournament, a feat that no one from the academy has done before".
"You are jealous because you knew that you would be left behind by a junior as time moves on, and wanted to show your superiority when you could. Remember Dipshit, I am not a member of the City Guard nor military to follow orders as they were. I am a student of the academy, as were you. I followed my instincts, and those instincts saved who knows how many".
"Stop being jealous of others and concentrate on improving yourself", he then turned towards the council members. "The council was supposed to be good, but from your eyes, I can see that you are greedy as hell. You want to get the benefits that would be tilted towards me, but you are forgetting something. I am not a part of the City Guard nor part of the military".
"So, this council has no rights to judge me whatsoever. The most you can do was not pay for the job I have here since I arrived from the academy, nothing more. I am now done with bullshit meeting".
Aaron stormed out of the room without caring for the commander of the City Guard, who was seated there.
The commander didn’t stop either, as he knew that the boy had saved a lot of lives by leaving the appointed field of operation.
The orders are to make sure that the casualties of war would be fewer, but that doesn’t always work. If Aaron had not attacked in time and stopped the ritual, then there would be even more deaths.
Also, as Aaron stated, he can’t be judged by them as he didn’t belong to either the City Guard or the military. He is a student, and if anyone can judge them, it would be his academy.
Storming out like that without permission was slapping him in the face, but they did him wrong by summoning him to the HQ and interrogating him as if he were a criminal.
He is a hero and should have been treated as such. For that, the commander felt that he deserved more than an imaginary slap on his face.
"Are you going to let him off like that?" one of the council members spoke in a fury.
"Shut up. He is a hero who saved many lives, and yet here you are all judging him as if he were a criminal. Don’t think I don’t know what you are trying to do. Everything that happened here would be sent to the higher ups and I am sure that they won’t be happy with what happened", the commander shouted at the council.
He was beyond angry, but he had no power to punish the council. So, he stood up and left as well.
---
Aaron after returning to his room, calmed down a little, "I never felt such anger in my life. Is this because that asshole was trying to use the city guard to show that he was superior to me or is there another reason behind that?", he wondered.
Though that thought came, he pushed that away for later. For now, there are fires that needed to be put down first.
"Since I walked out of the room, without their permission, I doubt I would be accepted back with open arms. Hmm, I should call and ask for assistance from the academy to return. Even though I may lose some points for leaving abruptly, staying in such a place is not for my growth", Aaron decided.
He contacted Lyanna, the Vice-Headmistress of the Dusk Academy. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
The staff can’t give out their contact numbers, but Aaron has ranked top in the Inter-academy tournament and even brought the academy’s position to second rank. That was enough to give her contact for emergencies, and this definitely constitutes as an emergency.
