Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 276
Aaron’s concentration was on those hidden or special attributes, and for that reason, he started to hoard the FSPs. He once believed that those FSPs are useful when they were turned into attributes, not sitting as a big number on the status panel.
That opinion changed as he started to learn and as he started to get more FSPs that he couldn’t possibly just dump into the good old attributes.
There are a few reasons behind this.
First and foremost of all, he learned that there are skills that can lock one’s attributes, reducing them to a bare fraction of what they had. So, no matter how high your attributes are, you would be rendered useless. It was not just skills; there are artifacts and formations that do the same.
If he gets caught in such traps, no matter how high his attributes are, they would become useless.
Second, well, it was like a continuation of the first, but instead of suppression, there would be a difference between them.
If the enemy’s attributes are very high, higher than his by a large margin, then it wouldn’t matter whether he has ten thousand or a million points in the attribute.
The enemy could crush him easily if he became too dependent on the attributes.
This stays true for even the skills or artifacts. Depending too much on anything would be dangerous. For one to become truly powerful, one needs to understand how to use anything that possesses and not depend on one thing.
Aaron has become too dependent on his attributes and his undead army. The battles became too easy for him. He is levelling up fast, but that shouldn’t be what one should concentrate on.
It should be on how to make use of every resource efficiently. Minimum usage, maximum benefits. That is how things have to be. That is how Aaron wanted to do things from now on.
He has already reached Rank-5, which is when one is considered to be an Elite, and he should try to become Elite of the Elite, not remain like an ordinary professional who depends solely on one powerful skill or high attributes to overwhelm the enemy.
What if one day he faces an enemy that can render those useless?
After what happened in Duskmist City, he was feeling that he might one day meet such an enemy.
So, what he needs to gain is not just strength but refined strength, strength that he can use in a situation, no matter how dire the situation might be.
From the start, he became too reliant on his undead, only sniping from a distance whenever it was possible and safe to do so.
Everyone knows that he is a Death Mage, and most death professionals, no matter what name they carry as their Class, would have undead soldiers, which makes them powerful as they reach higher ranks.
Normally, with increased levels, one would gain SPs, and with those SPs, one can increase the rank of their skill. What Death Professionals would do is increase the Undead Summoning skills first and foremost, which would increase the number of undead under their control.
This is what everyone expects of someone with an army like that. That’s normal and the way to gain a lot of strength in a short time, but that can also become a shackle for the professional.
If someone finds a way to render that skill useless during the battle, using some formation or secret technique or some other unknown method, what to do then?
"Though Death Skills are my main skills connected to my profession, I need to have ways to defeat the enemy if they find a way to bind me. The good thing was that no one knew all my trump cards. Except for some skills that I showed, most were hidden from public eyes".
"I can always depend on them, but if the lock happens on Mana or Death Energy, which was required to use those skills, then I would be in a bind. Though that would be too much of a hassle than binding a single skill or attributes, it may be possible".
"I am a mage, so there is a chance that others could consider me weak in physical attributes and could restrict the usage of mana or any other energy. For now, I have more than enough attributes if anyone thinks that my body is weak".
"I may need to learn a weapon or two. Though I may have high attributes, without proper techniques to use a weapon, it would be just raw power, and crude use of a weapon would gain me nothing", Aaron thought, thinking about what weapon to select.
What Aaron thought was correct.
Everyone professional would have a few weaknesses. As a mage, his greatest strength was magic, and he is a Death Mage, which means his greatest power was Death. The undead summons and other Death Skills would make the enemy useless in a matter of moments.
Yet, the professional would normally have certain weaknesses, like lesser physical strength, and weakness to light-based skills.
Though he has a lot of attributes and can buy some light-resistant items that can render opponent light attacks, they are not 100% useful.
Attributes are like raw ore. Without turning them into a fine weapon, they appear useless in a battle.
As said before, strength without experience on how to use it properly would be nothing but a waste.
So, he intends to bury that weakness by learning something that has nothing to do with his profession at all. If he can learn to use a weapon for close range combat, his enemy would get stunned for a second to see him using something to fight in close range.

"Speaking of skills, I have been ignoring those until my luck reached max, and I turned Rank-5 to see if possible to get some good Death Skills, if I don’t get after my rank up. Now, it is time to use them", Aaron decided to use some of the items that he saved for use at appropriate times.
