Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Picking the Lock

Isaac was cut off before he could speak further from behind when Julian already answered Natalie’s call. "Hello, Nat, what’s up?"

"Brother."

Natalie looked at Nina in her arms, pondering how to phrase her words.

Isaac noticed and reached out his long arm to take the phone.

"Nina is drunk at Somnus. Wait for an hour, if you don’t show up, we’ll leave her here."

After saying this, he hung up.

Natalie: "..."

She thought her brother probably wouldn’t come.

She recalled that a few years ago, her brother dated a girlfriend she met once, who was a mature type, entirely different from Nina.

Her brother was into that type.

That’s why he blocked Nina and rejected her confession.

But what Natalie never expected was—

Half an hour later, the private room’s door was pushed open.

A tall and stern figure appeared.

She looked at the visitor in surprise: "Brother?"

Julian’s face was cold and stern, his gaze fell on Nina sleeping on the sofa, and his eyes grew even colder.

Isaac stood up with interest, wrapping his arm around Natalie as they headed out.

As they brushed past Julian, Natalie wanted to say something but ultimately didn’t.

Outside the private room, she asked Isaac, "Did you guess my brother would come early?"

"Mhm."

"Why?"

Isaac smiled, using his slender fingers to flick Natalie’s nose.

"Considering your brother’s character, if he had no interest in Nina, he wouldn’t have added her at all."

Natalie: "Are you suggesting my brother is interested in Nina?"

"Your brother knows Nina is your friend. Would you leave her in a bar unattended? Yet he came anyway. What do you think?"

Natalie lightly pursed her lips, feeling somewhat complicated.

——

Julian walked to the sofa, gazing deeply at the person pretending to sleep.

"Get up."

Half a minute later.

Nina opened her eyes and sat up.

Her little trick indeed couldn’t escape his eyes.

Julian turned to leave.

She bit her lip and followed.

Both got in the car silently.

Julian started the car but hadn’t driven far when Nina coldly spoke: "Stop at the hotel ahead."

Julian turned to look at her, frowning: "Not heading home. Why the hotel?"

"What’s it to you!" Nina snapped, "Anyway, you don’t like me! Stop butting in!"

Julian maintained a cold face as he drove to the hotel downstairs.

Even though she requested the hotel, once he followed through, her eyes reddened in anger.

She pushed the car door open, slammed it shut with a "bang", and headed into the hotel.

While checking in, she heard footsteps behind her, accompanied by a familiar male scent.

Unexplainably a bit aggrieved.

Having finished the formalities, Nina grabbed the room card and strode to the elevator, deliberately speaking loudly on the phone.

"Yes! I’m at the hotel, come find me!"

Once she finished the call, the elevator arrived.

She went inside, Julian stood outside.

They locked eyes.

Yet, the elevator doors didn’t close.

Nina suddenly realized it was because Julian was pressing the elevator button outside.

"What are you doing!"

Julian’s eyes were indifferent, his deep voice said: "Go up alone and rest well."

Nina snorted and said: "I don’t want to be alone. I called a friend over."

Pausing, she added: "A male friend!"

Julian’s gaze turned cold: "Late at night, isolated male and female. Don’t you have any sense of safety as a young girl?"

"Can you stop lecturing me like an elder?" Nina said and suddenly stepped forward to push Julian hard.

Julian was caught off guard, staggered back two steps.

Before he steadied himself, Nina had pressed the elevator button and the doors closed slowly.

His face turned stormy.

He glared at the closed elevator doors for a while, finally turning and heading outside the hotel.

Back in the car, Julian gripped the steering wheel, paused for a moment, then started the car and left.

——

Hotel room.

The guy friend who had just been on the phone with Nina asked which hotel she was at and brought wine over to find her.

Nina ignored him, tossed the phone aside, and sprawled on the bed sulking.

About twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang.

Nina puzzledly turned her head towards the door.

She hadn’t requested hotel service nor told her friend the hotel’s address.

So who was outside?

Suddenly.

An idea flashed through her mind.

She jumped up and rushed to the door.

Opening the door.

Nina saw the tall, upright figure standing outside.

It only took two seconds to come to her senses, then she leapt up, hugged his neck tightly, and pouted to find his lips.

Once missed, her lips brushed over his philtrum at the corners of his mouth.

Julian wrapped an arm around Nina’s waist, sighed lightly.

Holding her inside as he closed the door, he lowered his head and kissed her accurately.

Nina trembled all over, her eyelashes fluttering fiercely as she kissed him with closed eyes.

Julian embraced her on the bed, shrugged off his suit jacket onto the floor, then the tie followed.

Nina urgently reached out to unbutton his shirt, but her hands trembled too much, unable to unbutton a single one.

Julian chuckled, held her hand, and nibbled her fingertip.

Nina instantly blushed furiously.

He undid the buttons himself, revealing ample chest and abs.

Then he leaned down to continue kissing her.

——

The Beckett family.

Deep into the night, Julian still hadn’t returned.

Cynthia pushed open his room door and walked in.

She searched around but couldn’t find the item she saw last time.

Frowning thoughtfully, she suddenly glanced towards the bedside drawer.

With some effort, Cynthia managed to open the locked drawer.

Inside, she indeed saw the agreement she saw last time.

——

The next morning.

When Nina awoke, she felt like she’d been run over by a car.

But her heart was sweet.

Recalling those heated scenes from last night, she couldn’t control her blushing.

Burying her face in the quilt, she shyly reacted for a while, hearing a low male voice:

"Awake."

Nina peeked out from under the quilt, a red-faced glance towards Julian a few steps away.

The man had just showered.

Wearing a white hotel bathrobe, the belt casually tied, loosely revealing his collarbone and chest.

"Mm." Her gaze darted around but couldn’t help returning to focus on him.

"Last night we..."

"I’ll be responsible for you." Julian said, his tone unfluctuating, very calm: "Be my girlfriend."

Nina could hardly believe her ears.

She stared wide-eyed, confirming: "Are you serious?"

"Mhm." Julian took out a card from his wallet and handed it to Nina on the bed: "This is my supplementary card, take it."

Nina frowned, softly: "I don’t want it."

Although said to be dating, why did it feel odd?

Like some sort of money and affection trade?

Just then, Julian’s phone rang.

He answered, hearing the Beckett family servant urgently say: "Young master, something’s wrong! Seems the house has been broken into!"

"What?"

"This morning while tidying your room, I found it ransacked, and the bedside drawer was jimmied open! Young master, was there anything valuable in there?"

In there was...

Julian’s expression turned ominous.
