Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 106: Two Men Brawling in a Hotel
"Don’t talk nonsense!"
Vanessa finished speaking and immediately took out her phone to check the trending topics.
Seeing something there, her expression changed, and she frowned tightly.
Ethan said he was not making things up, and as he spoke he handed his phone to Philip.
Philip glanced at it, and his expression darkened.
But after all, having been in a position of power for many years, something like this wasn’t enough to make him lose composure.
He simply ordered for the meal to begin and dishes to be served.
"Isaac, you come sit as well."
He waved at Isaac, his tone flat—but if one listened closely, there was a hint of coldness there.
Isaac pressed his lips together, softly said, "Sorry, Grandpa. I’ll take care of it," and then left the room.
Ansel slammed the table in anger.
Vanessa opened her mouth, but looking at her husband’s face, she suddenly didn’t know what to say.
The happiest person in the room had to be Ethan.
He even wanted to pop a bottle of champagne, but considering the off mood, he held back.
——
Isaac drove all the way to the hotel.
"Knock knock!"
Barely holding back his anger, he pounded on the door.
After just a few knocks, the door opened.
His heart thudded, sinking straight to rock bottom.
The person who opened the door was an unfamiliar young man.
His hair was wet, his upper body bare, and he had only a white bath towel wrapped around his waist.
Seeing Isaac, the young man frowned and spoke with heavy impatience, "Who the hell are you?"
Isaac caught a glimpse behind him and saw a pair of white women’s high heels lying on the foyer floor—the exact ones Natalie wore that morning.
And next to those high heels was a pair of men’s leather shoes.
Both pairs were tossed about haphazardly, which made it clear how urgently their owners had taken them off.
Isaac’s handsome face clouded over while both his fists clenched tight.
Just then, he caught a faint sound of running water inside.
Someone was in the shower.
"Hey! You!"
The young man got shoved aside by Isaac, crashing into the shoe cabinet.
Realizing what happened, the man chased after him, grabbed him by the shoulder from behind. "Who the fuck are you! Who told you to barge in!"
As soon as the man’s hand landed on his shoulder, Isaac twisted the guy’s wrist in a flash.
"Fuck!"
The guy cursed in pain.
Isaac twisted his wrist hard behind his back and pinned him against the wall. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Fuck your mother! Let go of me!" The man struggled desperately.
Isaac’s anger had exploded; his pupils looked bloodshot. There was nothing rational left in him.
If he used any more force, he might just break the guy’s wrist right there.
The guy was in so much pain he broke out in a cold sweat, cursing over and over.
The noise drew the attention of the person in the bathroom.
The sound of running water suddenly stopped.
Half a minute later, the bathroom door opened.
Isaac was breathing hard, not even daring to turn around and check.
His mind was a total blank.
"Lucas!"
A woman’s voice cried out in shock.
Lucas shouted, "Mia! Call the cops! Call the cops!"
The moment Isaac heard the woman’s voice, he whipped his head around.
The girl standing at the bathroom door, wearing a white bathrobe and looking absolutely startled, was not Natalie.
He frowned and let Lucas go.
"Bang!"
Before he knew what was happening, he got punched in the face.
Lucas, baring his teeth in pain, charged at him. "Fuck! I’m gonna beat the crap out of you!"
Isaac blocked a couple punches, then suddenly heard another familiar woman’s voice:
"Isaac?"
Stunned, he looked toward the doorway.
While distracted, he got socked in the face again.
"Lucas!"
Natalie strode in, frowning. "Stop that."
Lucas, gasping for breath and still holding his fist up, turned to her and asked, "What the hell! You know this psycho?"
Natalie pulled Isaac to her side and said to Lucas, "Yeah, I know him."
Lucas stared wide-eyed.
Natalie turned back to Isaac with a frown. "Are you okay?"
Isaac rubbed the corner of his mouth, pressing his tongue against his cheek, tasting a faint trace of blood.
Natalie figured it was best to get him out of here first and talk later.
So she took his hand. "Let’s go."
Isaac let her lead him out. Behind them, Lucas’s furious voice rang out:
"What the hell? Natalie, you’re just leaving like this? Not going to explain? Natalie!"
"Mr. Lowell."
Mia came over and adjusted the big black-framed glasses covering most of her face. "If I’m not mistaken, that should have been Miss Kendall’s husband, Mr. Vaughn."
"What?! Natalie’s married?!"
"Yes."
"Damn it, why didn’t you say so earlier!" Lucas was about to lose it.
Mia replied seriously, "If I’d told you earlier, would you have stopped liking Miss Kendall, Mr. Lowell?"
"Fuck, I’d still like her! She’s fucking gorgeous!" Lucas irritably raked his hand through his hair, "Mia, go check up on Natalie’s marriage. See how she’s getting on with her husband. If Natalie gets divorced one day, maybe I still have a shot."
Mia: "..."
If it weren’t for this damned high salary, she’d resign right now and give this brainless rich kid a hard kick!
——
Obviously, Natalie had just taken a shower too.
Her hair was half-dry, and the scent on her wasn’t one Isaac recognized—it had to be hotel body wash.
"Lucas is my business partner. We were discussing work today when something unexpected happened and our clothes got dirty. This hotel was the closest, so we came here to get sorted out."
After explaining, Natalie looked over at Isaac. "Sorry I couldn’t keep our appointment today. Were your family upset about it? Do you need me to call and explain and apologize?"
"No, I’ll talk to them."
Isaac reached out and pulled Natalie into a hug. "Then why didn’t you answer your phone?"
Natalie stayed in his arms with a calm face. "My phone ran out of battery."
After a pause, she asked, "How did you know I was here?"
"Someone took photos—you were trending online."
"What?" Natalie frowned, surprised.
Isaac gently touched her face. "Don’t worry. I’ve already had it taken down."
Natalie still didn’t look too happy.
They went home together.
Natalie put her phone on charge. After a moment, Lucas called.
She answered and listened to him rant for seven or eight minutes non-stop.
After she hung up, Isaac came over.
Natalie said, "Lucas says you nearly broke his wrist. He won’t be able to use his hand for a while, which means he can’t sign the contract."
Isaac’s expression changed slightly.
"Sorry. I lost it today. I’ll go and apologize to him in person tomorrow."
Natalie tilted her head at him. "So today, you rushed to the hotel because you believed what was trending online? That I went to a hotel with another man, so you came running to catch me cheating?"
Isaac froze.
Natalie blinked her big doe eyes at him. "Is that it, Isaac?"
Isaac sat down beside her, grabbed her hand, and gritted his teeth. "Sorry, Little Ear. I must’ve lost my mind back then."
Natalie pulled her hand away, her voice icy. "So you don’t trust me at all."
Isaac felt a pain in his chest. "Little Ear."
She stood up and walked toward the door, but as soon as she reached it, he caught up from behind and hugged her tightly.
"Honey, I was wrong."
He buried his face into her neck, his voice low and soft, full of humility. "Don’t be mad at me."
