Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 15: Be a Good Girl
Strange.
Jason Grant looked at the empty foyer and the half-open door.
He distinctly heard something just now.
"Natalie? Where are you?"
No one was outside the door either.
Jason closed the door in confusion and went to find his phone to make a call.
Meanwhile—
In the apartment across.
Natalie Kendall was pressed between the wall and the chest of a man tall as a mountain.
His low, husky, heated breath rushed against her ear, the warmth spreading on the skin behind her ear, causing fine goosebumps to rise.
"This is..."
"My place."
She should have thought of it earlier.
He could appear at her door all of a sudden.
"When did you move here? Oakhaven over there..."
Isaac Vaughn clicked his tongue, gritting his teeth: "Do you think I’m in the mood to discuss that now?"
"You started the fire, you put it out."
Natalie felt scared and shy.
Isaac wouldn’t let her escape, his lips curled coldly: "Leaving me hanging, better be mentally prepared, right?"
"Weren’t you going to ask me out?"
He took her ear in his mouth, his voice pressing into her ear canal: "Let’s do it today."
Natalie’s rationality mostly collapsed, only a small part stubbornly holding on, but likely not for much longer.
They started kissing passionately.
Isaac slid his hands under her waist to lift her up, suddenly hearing a noise outside the door. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
Someone was entering the password lock on his door.
Natalie stopped breathing abruptly, instinctively tightening her hold on his neck, burying her head in the crook of his neck, avoiding like an ostrich.
Isaac muttered a curse, and, holding her face to face, quickly retreated to the bedroom.
Just as the bedroom door closed, there was a beep from the door outside.
Password correct.
The door opened.
Vanessa Grant came in.
"Baby? Baby, are you here?"
In the bedroom.
"Damn it!"
Upon hearing his mother’s voice, Isaac half-dragged, half-carried the person in his arms into the bathroom.
Natalie’s mind had been blank for a while, and when her consciousness finally returned, she was already in the bathroom.
The cold tiles were behind her, while in front of her was Isaac, his face flushed, sweat pouring down his forehead and neck.
Heavens knew, after everything, he was about to explode!
Natalie blinked, raising her hand to touch his face.
"What are you doing!" Isaac shuddered, grabbed her slender wrist, gritting his teeth, showing a fierce look as if he wished he could devour her on the spot.
Natalie’s pure face tinged with light pink, eyes like a clear spring, seeing straight through.
"You’re sweating a lot."
Isaac really felt like he was going to crack hard his molars.
It was her fault.
Who made her try to seduce him at such a time.
"You asked for it!"
He lowered his head to bite her lip, as if he could swallow her in one go.
The kiss was wild and unrestrained, full of invasion.
Once again, Natalie’s consciousness wandered, her head feeling empty like it couldn’t hold anything, but it was completely filled with him.
"Knock, knock. Baby, are you in there?"
Isaac turned to look at the bathroom door, stretched out his arm to switch on the nearby shower.
"Mm, I’m taking a shower."
"Okay, Mommy will wait outside for you."
Footsteps faded away.
Water splashed from the shower onto the floor, wetting the hem of Natalie’s pants.
She almost couldn’t stand, and if it weren’t for Isaac’s arm around her waist, she would have collapsed onto the floor.
"My mom’s outside."
Isaac touched her face, speaking with a coaxing tone: "So be good, let’s make it quick."
—
Isaac emerged, a towel draped around his neck, while drying his hair.
"Ms. Grant, why didn’t you let me know in advance you were coming? You scared the daylights out of me."
"Surprise!" Vanessa Grant spread her hands with a smile: "Baby, aren’t you surprised?"
"..."
Vanessa pouted.
Treasured for decades, the woman still not a youth yet, doing such youthful expressions without being out of place.
"Mommy missed you! You’ve only been in Janton for a few days, then you rushed back to Seaharbor. Plus, you promised Mommy you’d talk nicely to your dad, so he’d let you go back."
Isaac sprawled out on the sofa, crossing his legs, "I’m really doing great in Seaharbor."
Vanessa pouted, looking as if about to cry.
Isaac feared his mother’s tears, "Fine, fine. Isn’t it just to soothe him? I’ll do it. I’ll call tomorrow."
With a slightly relieved expression, Vanessa discussed: "Last week your eldest brother went on a date."
Isaac’s eyes flickered slightly at the news, "Oh, really?"
"He met the Huxley family’s eldest daughter, and they seemed to get on well. Baby, when will you find a girlfriend? Oh, Jessica’s back, did you know?"
"Which Jessica?"
"The one who is Uncle Vance’s daughter, you two were in the same kindergarten."
Isaac thought deeply about a person: "Is it the girl with braces? Hideous."
"Braces were ages ago." Vanessa tapped his arm: "Girls change at eighteen, Jessica’s quite the beauty now."
"Bang!"
Suddenly, a noise came from the direction of the bedroom.
"What was that?" Vanessa paled in fear.
Isaac’s eyes brimmed with cunning, curiously looking at his mom: "What’s that?"
Vanessa pointed at the bedroom: "Just now, there was noise from there, Baby didn’t you hear it?"
"Was there? How come I didn’t hear anything?"
Isaac’s expression bore a hint of innocence, seemingly not acting.
"Ah! Baby, don’t scare Mommy!" Vanessa rushed over, hugging him tightly.
Isaac chuckled under his breath, wrapped an arm around her shoulders, "Ms. Grant, seems you’re worn out, need some rest. The guest room’s not ready, why don’t you stay in my bedroom?"
Vanessa thought of the noise in the bedroom, refusing quickly, "No, no thank you. Baby, Mommy will stay in the hotel."
She hurriedly grabbed her bag and left, not daring to glance at the bedroom.
Once his mom left, Isaac walked towards the bedroom, lightly knocked on the door.
Two seconds later, the door opened.
Natalie lowered her eyes, looking guilty as if she’d done something wrong: "I accidentally kicked the trash can."
Isaac folded his arms, "Mm, my mom thought it was an apparition, you scared her away."
Certainly, he contributed to the fear.
Natalie raised her head, meeting his obsidian eyes, asking, "About my proposal, can you give me an answer?"
Isaac chuckled angrily.
With his long fingers, he pinched Natalie’s chin, not caring if the force met discomfort.
She deserved it if it hurt.
"I suggested marriage, you said just dating?"
Natalie frowned: "Marriage between us is impossible."
Why could he not understand?
"Why is it impossible? You could marry my uncle, but not me? What’s wrong with me?"
Isaac drew her close just like that day, his expression non-playful, saying: "Natalie Kendall, marry me."
"What you want are those things."
"You want someone to love you."
"Marry me, and I’ll love you."
