Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 23: Spend a Night with Mr. Will
"Nat?" Vanessa Grant was still calling her.
At this moment, even the slightest sound might arouse suspicion.
Natalie’s hands and feet were ice cold, and she felt like she couldn’t even breathe.
Isaac Vaughn noticed the blood draining from her face, sighed quietly, and reached out to turn off the faucet.
With the sound of water, at least there was some cover.
Natalie stared at him in shock through the mirror.
Compared to her, Isaac seemed perfectly calm.
He signed to her: Say you’re here, and you’ll come right out.
Natalie’s mind was blank, but she subconsciously followed his instructions and spoke up:
"I’m here, I’ll be out right away, really, right away."
Sure enough, hearing her voice, Vanessa Grant didn’t approach further, just said, "Okay," and footsteps faded away.
Natalie stepped out of the bedroom.
Jason Grant sat on the sofa in a slouched posture, looking down, fiddling with his phone.
Vanessa Grant walked up to her, took her hand, and asked with concern, "Nat, I heard from Jessica you accidentally fell into the pool—are you alright?"
"Aunt Vanya was so worried, the moment she heard about it, she came right over to see you," Jessica Vance added.
Natalie shot Jessica a bland glance, looked away, then quietly replied to Vanessa Grant, "I’m fine."
"See, I told you she’d be fine," Jason Grant stood up, a look of impatience on his face.
His little minx was still waiting for him somewhere.
"Sis, I’ve got something to do, gotta run."
He didn’t even wait for Vanessa to reply and strode right out.
Vanessa wanted to scold her unlucky brother, but didn’t get a chance.
Natalie is his fiancée, and the Grant Group will rely on her shares in the future—yet he doesn’t even care about her!
"As long as you’re alright, Nat, that’s a relief. I brought you some supplements, all good for your health and keeping you warm. Make sure you take them."
"Thank you."
"We’ll be a family soon, no need to be so polite."
Vanessa reminded Natalie to get some rest, then left together with Jessica.
Before leaving, Jessica couldn’t help glancing back at the bedroom, her brows furrowing slightly—something just felt off in there.
Having just escaped being found out twice by Jason and Vanessa, the lingering fear in Natalie’s heart hadn’t faded.
Isaac leaned against the bedroom door frame and knocked softly.
Natalie snapped back to reality and looked over at him.
"Find your ID."
Isaac took a photo of Natalie’s ID with his phone and sent it to Franklin Finch, urging him to hurry up and handle changing her age.
Natalie asked him, "What for?"
Isaac’s lips curled into a smile. "To get married."
"What?" Natalie was stunned.
Just then, Franklin Finch replied with a message:
[Isaac, are you serious?]
Isaac pulled Natalie close with one hand and typed a reply with the other:
[What do you think? Move your ass and get it done!]
Franklin Finch: [You really like someone like Natalie? Cold as ice.]
Isaac: [She just needs to not be cold in bed.]
Franklin Finch: [Fuck!]
Just by reading the messages, Isaac could picture his buddy losing his mind on the other end.
His sleeve was tugged. He looked down at Natalie.
She was holding her phone; her uncle had just texted, asking her to join him at a dinner tonight.
Isaac said, "Send me your location when you’re there. I’ll come pick you up afterwards."
——
Natalie went with Jason Grant to a private club. At the entrance, she sent her location to Isaac; he replied "OK" almost immediately.
Natalie put her phone away and looked up, only to meet Jason Grant’s strange gaze.
"You..." Jason narrowed his eyes at her. "You’ve got a man, don’t you?"
Natalie’s heart lurched.
"You were texting that pretty boy just now, weren’t you?"
Not giving Natalie a chance to respond, he sneered, "Like I said before, you want to have some fun, I don’t care—just don’t let it become a scandal, and don’t get pregnant."
Natalie ignored him, her face expressionless as she walked inside.
Jason caught up, peppering her with questions as they walked: "What does he do? Is he from your school?"
"Just some broke student, right? Bet he’s after your money."
"How much money have you spent on him?"
Jason stopped Natalie. "Tell me honestly—aside from the Beckett Group shares, did your grandpa give you anything else? You did save his life, after all. Didn’t he give you any money?"
"Why?" Natalie said, her tone mocking. "If he did, would you want a cut?"
Jason’s expression flickered with embarrassment, clearly hit where it hurt.
But he quickly gave up and dropped the act. "Whatever. We’re getting married in just over two months anyway. By then, whatever’s yours is mine—your money is my money, isn’t it?"
Natalie scoffed, shook him off, and strode away.
Jason stared after her, cursing under his breath.
Tonight was Jason’s turn to host the YAMAXUN Group people; since they were discussing a partnership, he had to feel things out in advance.
Natalie was here as Jason’s interpreter, with her role as his fiancée under wraps—so of course Jason called in a hostess to keep up appearances.
He wrapped his arm around the hostess’ slender waist, his hand sliding audaciously down and making himself hot-blooded and wild.
"Mr. Will, did you enjoy yourself tonight? If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, just let me know—I’ll make sure you have everything you want."
After saying this, Jason shot Natalie a look.
Natalie immediately translated for him.
Will, also holding onto a hostess, smiled. "You’re too kind, Mr. Grant."
The hostess quickly poured him another drink after he spoke. He downed it, but his gaze landed on Natalie, sizing her up brazenly.
Natalie noticed his rude stare, her expression growing icier.
"This beautiful Oriental angel, why aren’t you drinking at all?"
Will was a foreigner—far less restrained than people here.
He’d seen a lot of wild women, but meeting someone as cold and untouchable as Natalie, his desire to conquer was instantly triggered; suddenly, he was very interested in her.
"Miss Oriental Angel, let me toast you."
Jason saw Will raise a glass to Natalie, and since Natalie was making no move to respond, he immediately shoved the hostess aside and sat down next to Natalie to scold her.
"What are you doing? Raise your glass—drink!"
Natalie coolly looked at him.
Jason was nearly red-faced with anxiety. "This deal with Will is really important—if you screw it up for me, how am I supposed to explain myself to Old Mr. Grant?"
The mention of Old Mr. Grant made Natalie’s expression soften a little.
She picked up the glass and, face expressionless, knocked it back in one gulp.
Will cheered, barking out a loud laugh.
Jason finally relaxed, flashing a wide smile.
From then on, Will’s gaze on Natalie grew even more unrestrained, as if he wanted to devour her right then and there.
He said something to his secretary, who walked over to Jason and relayed Will’s message.
Jason’s face changed instantly as he glanced at Natalie.
The secretary added, "Mr. Will says, as long as Mr. Grant lets this young lady accompany him for just one night, he’s ready to sign the contract right now."
The secretary handed a glass of wine to Jason, hinting that he should make Natalie drink it.
You didn’t need to think hard to know exactly what had been added to that drink.
