Chapter 1164: Chapter 113: Voices

113. Voices

"Voices?"

Tangze Asuka asked with some confusion, recalling carefully, but it seemed that ever since she came to this world, everything was quite normal, and she hadn’t heard any strange voices.

However, to be more certain, she questioned Margaret further,

"What kind of voices do you mean?"

Margaret stared at her for a second, then smiled and pointed ahead, indicating for her to keep walking, while saying,

"It’s a special voice, coming from inside the brain, from beyond this world. It’s a kind of guidance from our world..."

Tangze Asuka pursed her lips, following Margaret’s steps, discovering that they were heading towards the stone tower within the Ideal Country.

"Guidance... Margaret, I don’t understand."

"I am different from you, Asuka, not as lucky as you. When I came to this world, I was completely alone, and I was caught by the elves, presented as a slave to their king. I was utterly hopeless at that time, but gradually I realized, it seemed like my brain was always hearing some indistinct words, always telling me something... initially, I didn’t care about it until one day, those voices became clearer, easier to recognize..."

Margaret’s expression remained unchanged, a faint light flickered in her eyes, she continued,

"It told me some very precious knowledge. It was with this knowledge that I barely survived under the Elf King, learned how to control the Destiny Loom and its uses, and this knowledge was tested in practice, it was real."

"Ah, I see... but I’ve never heard anything."

"It’s alright, Asuka."

Margaret gazed at the moonlight ahead, softly surmised,

"It might be that you’ve heard it, but just haven’t realized it yet. It took some time from when I first arrived in this world to when I could clearly recognize those voices, I’ll show you something and you’ll understand."

Tangze Asuka nodded somewhat understandingly, since she had nowhere else to go for the time being, what she wanted to say to Mr. Fischer and the situation she wanted to express would have to wait until... well, until he finished, given the intensity of it, Tangze Asuka didn’t know exactly how long it would take.

So, the two of them quickly passed through the settlements and crowds of the Ideal Country, returning to the stone tower.

But unlike before when they climbed up the stone stairs, this time Margaret went in another direction, skillfully pressing a certain spot on the wall, and then a small door, only able to accommodate one person, rose up from the wall.

The small door was quite dark inside, leading below ground, with a chilly breeze occasionally sweeping through.

Tangze Asuka swallowed her saliva, but Margaret had already stepped inside first, and said to Tangze Asuka,

"Follow me, Asuka."

"Mm... okay."

Hesitating for a moment, she carefully followed the figure of the woman in front, moving beneath the stone tower.

The corridor inside the small door showed no signs of artificial chiseling, much like a naturally formed cave, and as they went deeper, Tangze Asuka’s guess was confirmed.

The corridor floor was steep, and Margaret, after entering the small door, took a bag filled with glowing insects from the wall, then tightly held Tangze Asuka’s hand, guiding her down the corridor for hundreds of meters.

As they descended deeper, the profundity and emptiness of the space below gradually unfolded.

Slowly, Tangze Asuka’s steps began to echo layer upon layer in the space around her, and with a subtle lift of Margaret’s finger, a spacious cavern suddenly revealed itself before them.

In the center of the cavern, a gigantic pillar had formed, piercing down from the top rock face; it appeared to be the pillar that leads straight to "Death" at the center of the stone tower. Around the pillar were numerous tables, covered in various glowing scrolls, including wooden scrolls from the Tree Continent.

"What is this place..."

"This is where I usually conduct research, Asuka. Come over, I have something to show you."

Following Margaret forward, Tangze Asuka wasn’t sure if it was an illusion, but it seemed like she saw lines of moving text on the papers spread across the table, as if the words had come alive. Initially, Tangze Asuka didn’t recognize the shape of those characters, but as if coming together mutually, they twisted into Japanese when Tangze Asuka started to gaze at them.

"Japanese?"

Upon suddenly seeing the living characters from her hometown, Tangze Asuka was overwhelmed with excitement, she eagerly began reading the text, quickly capturing fragmented concepts here and there.

"Death..."

"Lower... Authority..."

"Unconsciousness... of God..."

"True Order... Origin..."

"Exchange... Disproportionate Death..."

Yet as she tried to make out the text, her eyes suddenly filled with dense blood vessels, and her entire brain felt as if it was flooded with searing lava, ready to obliterate her sanity and everything.
