Demon Hunter and His Cabin-Chapter 387: Foreign Spirit Assembly Meeting (10)
Chapter 387: Chapter 387: Foreign Spirit Assembly Meeting (10)
Boom!
The iron gates closed.
The figure standing on the platform raised his head, the morning sunlight glinting off his body, coating him in a layer of gold. The halo around him shimmered as if he had donned a suit of custom-made knight armor.
Two robust figures appeared on either side of the platform.
Gareth and Gaheris.
The two stepped forward and embraced the figure on the platform familiarly.
One of them announced loudly,
"Celebrate, for the Inheritance Ceremony has been completed to perfection!"
"From this day forth, renounce your original surname and name, renounce your kin and loved ones, your remaining life, your strength, your passion..."
"...Will all be dedicated to the Round Table Knight Order."
"Grey is dead."
"The name of Tristan will be passed down forever!"
"Eld once again has its protector!"
"It’s Grey, Grey has survived!"
Goway excitedly wrapped her arms around Roger’s neck and jumped for joy, "He’s alive, he’s still alive!"
Then she burst into tears.
After the brief ceremony, Grey descended from the platform. Goway held back her tears and rushed forward to greet him first!
But just as she approached within two meters of Grey, a powerful force suddenly erupted from him. Goway was caught off guard and sent flying, falling to the ground.
Her enthusiasm plummeted; Goway looked up with a shocked expression at the familiar yet strange figure.
"What are you doing..."
Before she could finish speaking, Goway froze in place. The familiar form, the familiar face, even before Roger could step forward, Goway suddenly got up from the ground and dashed out without looking back.
"Goway!" Roger shouted after her, then turned to glance at Grey.
The energy that radiated from the other was unmistakably that of a Third Tier; he frowned slightly, eyeing Grey with confusion.
He was like a completely different person, not only in terms of the power emanating from his body, but even his temperament was vastly different from the Grey he knew!
It even made Roger believe that another soul inhabited that body!
His heart skipped a beat, and an unsolicited thought of the Foreign Spirit Assembly crossed his mind.
Could this Tristan be a soul from the Otherworld?
No... that’s not right.
Even Abraham couldn’t achieve Third Tier combat strength immediately after switching bodies.
To escape the backlash of the body and maintain as much strength as possible after the switch, Abraham had made countless preparations.
But here was Grey.
Grey said with a slight smile, "My apologies, I just finished the Inheritance Ceremony and still can’t properly control my body’s strength. Goway came at me too suddenly just now."
"Please, Roger."
"Go and talk to her."
Roger averted his gaze and nodded before leaving.
Not long after he left, Grey, now by himself, entered a secret room where Gareth and Gaheris were waiting for him.
"Congratulations, my friend."
"Regain your strength as soon as possible; a Deerhead Spirit awaits us in the forest."
Grey, or rather, Tristan, nodded, his face revealing a hint of murderous intent.
"That damn beast, I will have my revenge!"
Meanwhile, after leaving the Heritage Sanctuary, Roger hadn’t gone far when he saw Goway standing by the railing.
"He’s not my brother."
The girl wiped away her tears and turned with a resolute look to face Roger.
"There’s someone else in his body!"
"Grey... Grey might truly be dead."
Roger opened his mouth but found himself at a loss for words.
"What exactly happened inside the real Heritage Sanctuary? The Round Table Knight Order must be keeping secrets from us!"
Goway clenched her fist, "I intend to find out!"
"How do you plan to do that?"
Roger’s unexpected question was like a bucket of cold water poured over her enthusiasm.
Goway’s clenched fist slowly relaxed, and her face fell into dejection.
"Let’s go, we should head back for now."
Roger wrapped his arm around the girl’s frail shoulders and pulled her into the car to take her back to the manor.
After settling Goway, Roger immediately sought out Claudia.
Just a few days apart, yet Claudia somehow seemed to have acquired the aura of a living person – a strange description for sure, since the former Claudia did possess a certain beauty but lacked the essence of a human being.
She resembled more of an exquisite doll, an empty shell, wearing a mask upon her face, and even her body seemed nothing more than a vessel.
But now, Claudia appeared more vibrant than before.
"The changes in you..."
Roger was somewhat concerned about Henrik.
"To be honest, I really should thank your friend; he helped me find a new way to draw power."
"A million desires of others can’t compare to a single impulse that springs from one’s own heart."
"I feel like I’ve found the right path."
Once Roger was certain it wouldn’t affect Henrik, he could finally relax.
If there was any impact, it still existed.
Well... it would probably have a significant effect on the kidneys, on the body indeed.
"The Round Table Knight Order’s method of inheritance?"
Claudia stood up from her chair and began to ponder as she walked, "I indeed know very little about this matter. However, there was one time I remotely encountered a Round Table Knight."
"He gave me a strange feeling, like he was of the same kind but with a vague barrier between us."
"He is different from us; it’s best if you don’t engage with him," Claudia advised.
Roger nodded, "Are you attending the meeting tonight?"
"No need."
"I have more important things to do."
Claudia’s slender fingers gently twisted a strand of her hair and tied a knot around her fingertip.
Such a feminine gesture was hard to imagine coming from Claudia.
After all, she was one of The Faceless.
In the eyes of ordinary people, to be faceless meant to be heartless.
Goway hid in her room all day and didn’t leave; Roger didn’t know how to comfort the girl. Perhaps only time could smooth over the wounds in her heart.
Time quickly moved on to the evening, night fell, and Roger arrived at the Mist Hut through his Penetration ability.
He familiarly prepared the materials needed for the ritual and opened the window, initiating the ceremony as the time approached.
The air before him rippled like water waves, forming a tapestry around him: a pitch-black dungeon, a beach covered with fine sand, a dome heavy with ice and snow.
And... a dark abyss as black as ink!
Upon seeing the silhouette in the depths, Roger’s pupils shrank suddenly; despite the slight changes in the figure’s appearance, he recognized his identity with ease.
Abraham!
He hadn’t expected him to attend this Foreign Spirit Assembly.
The first to speak was, surprisingly, the Paladin.
His hearty laughter filled the space as his gaze swept over everyone’s faces.
"An old friend we haven’t seen in a long time."
His eyes fixated on the mask on Abraham’s face, "Soul Devourer, this time you’ve come in person to the meeting."
Abraham nodded. He recognized almost everyone in the meeting, except for that one... freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"Would someone be willing to introduce us to one another?"
Roger’s presence was imperceptible, but for some reason, Abraham still sensed something was amiss.
