Chapter 386: Chapter 386: The Knight’s Legacy

Roger did not return to Baytown; instead, he went to his house in Bordeaux and activated the Temporary Migration feature.

With a mere thought, his body appeared in Shadow Cottage.

Being on the same plane meant Roger did not need to consider the time limit of the Temporary Migration feature.

Upon exiting the cottage, he went straight to find Goway.

"Is there anything I can help with?"

"The Companion Treants of the Secret Blood Witch are very important to you. If there’s anything I can do to make up for your loss, I’ll be at your beck and call."

Goway shook her head.

"It’s not about that."

"It’s my brother, Grace. He has healed from his injuries and passed the final test. Now, he is one of the three candidates."

"The day after tomorrow, the official Inheritance Ceremony will begin at the Heritage Sanctuary in Dublin, and I’m very worried about him. I hope you can come with me."

"Three candidates? Is such an inheritance very dangerous?" Roger picked up on some abnormalities in the procedure.

Goway nodded, "The mortality rate is high, sometimes even leading to the death of all candidates!"

"Do you know the specifics of the process?"

"An inherited title of knight is a secret of the Round Table Knight Order, and the manner of inheritance for each Round Table Knight is not entirely the same."

"Tristan is stationed in Eld, his strength ranks in the middle among the 12 Round Table Knights, and the manner of his inheritance is considered to be quite standard."

"It is said that after the three candidates enter the Heritage Sanctuary, they will directly initiate a test of soul compatibility."

"The tests of physical condition, mental state, and character that they’ve undergone are just the basics. The key lies within the Heritage Sanctuary!"

Goway’s hands clenched together, her fingertips turning slightly white, "I’m very worried about him, I’m afraid that when the time comes, he might..."

"Is there anything I can do to help?"

Goway shook her head in agony.

"Pray."

Roger frowned, finding it a truly cruel answer.

He would naturally not refuse such a matter, and after consoling Goway, he had the young girl move to his newly built estate in the forest.

In this way, he managed to avoid the interference of Henrik and Claudia.

Lately, the two of them had been secretive, and Roger had no idea what they were up to.

What seemed strange to him was that although the estate was not open to the public, Claudia’s aura seemed to grow stronger, and her strength appeared to have advanced.

"Where is she drawing her desires from?"

"Is it accumulation and sudden breakthrough?"

Time flew by, and soon it was the day for Grace’s inheritance.

Early in the morning, Roger accompanied Goway to the Heritage Sanctuary in Dublin, which was a building with a white dome, similar to a church.

Of course, that must only be the surface; the real location of the inheritance was certainly hidden within an unknown Transcendent World.

Before the inheritance began, at the resting area, Roger saw Grace pacing back and forth.

"Goway..." Seeing his sister, Grace immediately relaxed.

"Seeing you here, even if I were to die immediately..."

"Shut your mouth!"

Goway glared at him, her eyes shimmering with tears, not understanding her brother’s words.

"Brother, please, just this once, listen to me!"

"Let it go; it’s not your responsibility!"

"Without you, there will still be new Heritage Knights, and they’ll do just as well."

Grace shook his head in pain.

"You don’t understand, this is my duty!"

He revealed a hearty smile.

"Hearing you call me ’brother,’ I’ll surely succeed!"

Goway covered her mouth, suppressing her cries, with tears blurring her vision, "Promise me, survive!"

Before Grace could answer, a sudden cold snort came from the side.

"I must say, people are selfish."

"If your brother survives, then that surely means my failure."

Roger turned his head and saw a burly man with a crew cut.

It was clear that he was also a candidate for the inheritance just like Grace, but his face bore no pride, only agitation and dissatisfaction.

"You have a good brother."

The man glanced at Goway.

"Not every man is willing to sacrifice his life for his sister."

He showed a self-mocking smile.

"What a pity, I don’t have a sister to marry off."

Hearing this, Goway’s frame shook violently, and she turned her head sharply to stop her crying, looking at her brother with surprise.

"What does he mean by that?"

"Shut up, Dalta!" Grace snorted coldly, "It’s time for us to go inside!"

With that, he didn’t linger on Goway’s face and turned to walk up the steps.

"Grace, tell me what is really going on?!"

Goway rushed up the steps, but was quickly stopped by the guards at the side.

Without looking back, Grace waved his hand, making a victorious gesture.

Although it was just bits and pieces, Roger could guess some of the hardships Grace was facing, and it was obvious that the so-called selection was likely not voluntary at all.

This man must be carrying some heavy burden for his sister.

What was even more bizarre, such an important event, yet none of the elders from Goway’s family were present, which was highly unusual.

"Sigh."

A light sigh suddenly came from the side, and a middle-aged woman around 40 shook her head, looked at Roger and asked, "Are you this girl’s lover?"

"Is she refusing her family’s mission for you?"

"Pray then."

"Pray that her brother dies in the inheritance."

After speaking, she turned and left the hall without another word.

"This inheritance..."

Roger took a few steps forward, supporting the distraught Goway to the side, and it took a while for the girl to recover.

Wiping away her tears, she muttered to herself, "I escaped from my family over a year ago."

"For the sake of passing down the bloodline, my family arranged a marriage for me, and the most unacceptable thing was that my brother arranged it for me."

"But now it seems he must be hiding something, he too must have his compelling reasons."

After thinking it over, Roger decided not to share what the middle-aged woman had said with Goway, as he was almost of no help in this matter.

The wait was exceedingly long, and before long, the Inheritance Ceremony officially began, presided over by two other titled knights.

Gareth and Gaheris.

In the legends, they were two brothers, and their older brother was the famous Gawain; however, after so many years, generations of successors had come and gone.

In this era, all that was left were their names.

From a distance, Roger could feel the strong power emanating from both of them. freēnovelkiss.com

Late Third Tier, or perhaps even stronger.

Without using some special means, he would likely be no match for either of them in normal combat.

However, Roger was not discouraged. Since his arrival in this world, in less than half a year, he had already gained Third Tier combat strength.

His recent progress had been astonishing, and if he could collect a few more manuscripts and acquire the Hart Spirit’s Horn, he would be able to complete the Dream Trials.

By then, none below the Fourth Tier would be his match!

The tedious ceremony was merely for show; the true inheritance had already begun inside the Heritage Sanctuary.

From dawn to dusk, through the long night, when the sun’s rays entered the hall the next day, the iron door above the stone steps opened, and a weary figure walked out from the pitch-black passage.
