Demon King Ascension System-Chapter 264 - Fight (3)
264 Fight (3)
Vera knew the matters belonging to factions were complicated, and although she understood how desperate they were that they even needed to sneak people up the realms to try and come up with some kind of solution, her interest still comes first. No matter how much empathy a demon felt, their desire would always come first, lest they would not be considered a demon anymore.
“I don’t know what the details are, but I really couldn’t give up descending the realm. So your choice would either let us pass through peacefully or finish what we have going on right now and we let us pass through ourselves.”
Of course, just as how the scrawny humanoid demon didn’t back down earlier after Blake’s refusal of his proposal, he also didn’t back down after hearing Vera’s statement.
Instead of replying to her using his words, the scrawny humanoid demon didn’t waste any of his words and instead revealed a glowing set of runes that he had been hiding behind his back all this time the two of them were having a conversation with each other.
The glowing set of runes flashed and disappeared when the scrawny humanoid demon aimed it straight toward Vera. The nether around him then gathered and soon, 3 arrows made out of fire manifested themselves into the world before flying right in Vera’s direction.
As if already knowing that she would be dealing with such a trick from the scrawny humanoid demon, Vera also revealed the set of runes that she had pre-drawn behind her back when she and the scrawny humanoid demon were talking to each other.
But instead of only one set of runes, she revealed two sets of glowing runes that she held in her two hands.
When the fire arrows flew toward her, Vera calmly released her hold on one of the sets of runes, letting the nether around her gather and manifested a space portal big enough to swallow the three fire arrows easily.
Right after the three fire arrows disappeared into the small portal that Vera created, she released her hold on the other set of runes on her other hand, letting the spell manifest into the world.
.....
And instead of summoning another portal in front of her, the nether instead gathered right behind the scrawny humanoid demon that was frozen and surprised when he saw what had just happened right in front of him.
“You… You were the one who had the space element affinity…?” He muttered when he could finally understand what had happened to his fire arrow.
However, the scrawny humanoid demon was too focused on the fact that he had just seen a space elemental spell being cast right in front of his eyes that he didn’t feel the nether that had gathered right behind him.
Behind the scrawny demon, Vera’s other spell had finished manifesting and created another portal the same size as the first one that swallowed the three fire arrows. And of course, out of the newly manifested portal came out three fire arrows that had been swallowed before.
The three fire arrows that were supposed to fly towards the demoness were now flying straight towards the scrawny humanoid demon, the one who had cast them in the first place. Vera had just used the same method that she used to fight against the horde of bison, but this time, transporting the three fire arrows instead of a whole demon through her portals.
The scrawny humanoid demon, of course, noticed the familiar nether that he had been using for the past dozens of years coming up on his back.
But his earlier shock when seeing a space elemental demon in the flesh, using his own two eyes, caused him to have a delayed reaction.
The scrawny humanoid demon tried to save himself by sending nether to one of the rings on his finger and tried to activate the rune formation.
But before the darkness barrier from the rune formation could manifest properly on his back, the fire arrows already crashed against it, destroying the premature barrier with one arrow while the other two arrows slipped past the destroyed barrier and hit the scrawny humanoid demon squarely on his body.
Albeit having the fire element affinity, the scrawny humanoid demon wasn’t immune to fire like Cyra, the flame variant demon. And when the fire arrows hit his body and explode upon impact, the scrawny humanoid demon’s relatively weaker physique couldn’t help but to be thrown away from his current standing position to fly face-first into the ground a meter or two away.
It was definitely unexpected for the scrawny humanoid demon, but he did the best that he could to protect his body from actually receiving a fatal wound.
Knowing his darkness barrier would not make it in time, the scrawny humanoid demon decided to sacrifice his wings and used them as a second and third layer of shield, protecting his weaker physique from taking the full brunt of his fire arrows, which he knew was powerful enough to break his bones and burn his insides if he just let it hit his body.
As a result, only his wings were badly damaged and his body had only been violently jerked away, but no actual damage was done to it other than the fact that the scrawny humanoid demon might not be able to fly again for quite a while before the wings were properly healed.
However, little did the scrawny humanoid demon expect that before he could even land properly on the ground, another attack had appeared right in front of his face.
From a quick glance, the attack seemed to be made of a bundle of darkness elements due to its color that was completely black, and its shape which resembled a ball.
The scrawny humanoid demon, of course, knew about the darkness bullet spell as he even knew how to cast it himself. But the ball of darkness element in front of him felt different from the darkness bullet.
Not only from the unbelievably low concentration of the darkness element compared to what a darkness bullet should have but also the fact that the ball of darkness was at least three times bigger than a regular darkness bullet, no matter what it was, it shouldn’t be a darkness bullet.
‘Wha-‘ Before the scrawny humanoid demon could ask what the hell the ball of darkness was, the ball of darkness hit him squarely in his chest without an ounce of protection covering his body.
