Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf-Chapter 20: Mark of Mates
Sanchez sat at her desk looking at the photo Infront of her. She had gotten this photo from that little girl.
According to her this kid, her boyfriend disappeared on the day of his mother’s funeral in Moonville.
That was a week ago, what was suspicious was that, this detective Lunar also appeared a week ago.
On the exact day this Adrian Lunar disappeared. Sanchez sighed, whoever this was.
They were either a kid or an idiot because no expert would leave such clear trails, that is one of the reasons she highly suspect this kid was her suspect.
The issue now was how to find him, she sighed again, she has been doing that a lot lately.
It was time to open another case, she took the photo and left, she didn’t even tell her partner.

Annie rushed back home after leaving the police station. She was deeply worried about Adrian.
But a part of her told her he abandon her and that made her scared. Annie couldn’t explain her feelings.
I’m her life she has only dated one other guy and it only lasted a week, the reason they broke up was because she called him by Adrian’s name.
Because deep down, he was the one she loved. Before, those feelings were controllable but after meeting him this time.
It was as if an explosion went off in her heart, she couldn’t stop thinking about him at all, it was a terrifying feeling.
She reached her house, her family was well off so they lived in a nice neighborhood, just as she opened the gate she heard somebody call her name.
She turned and saw a handsome guy running towards her, this was her classmate, Cyril.
Cyril had always made it clear he had feelings for her, while she thought he was good looking, she did not have any romantic feelings towards him.
Of course she welcomed his advances as long as he didn’t go too far, being pursued made her feel good about herself.
She knew it was wrong but it was not like she was stringing him along, she made it clear she’s not interested in dating him.
" Hey, where have you been?" Cyril asked yet that innocent question strangely irritated her.
She knew her feelings were in a volatile state right now and she didn’t want to lash out at innocent people.
She smiled gently at him, " I’m sorry Cyril, I’m going through something right now and want to be alone."
She proceeded to open the gate but just as she was about to go in he grabbed her arm.
Her eyes turned cold and she glared at him with venom spewing through them. Her expression of disgust caught him off guard.
She had always rejected him but Cyril had never seen her act like this, it was as if his touch was repulsive to her.
This hurt him but he let her go and stepped back. Annie closed the gate behind her and went inside her house.
" Stupid stupid stupid, why did you do that? Poor Cyril, he must be so hurt right now."
Annie cursed at her own actions then lay on her back and looked at the ceiling of her room.
It had posters of her favourite pop stars, some cute cartoon girls but at the centre was something else.
There was a picture of a handsome man with long white hair and a muscular build. The man was floating through the clouds with lightning flashing across his body.
This was Adrian’s favourite cartoon character, " He’d be mad if he heard me call it cartoons, anime."
She reached out as if to grab it like the picture would connect her to him. While lost in her thoughts she didn’t see two little gremlins enter her room.
" Why is she like that?" One asked. " Auntie said girls are like that when they’re dreaming about boys."
She heard them but it was too late, " Annie has a boyfriend Annie has a boyfriend.",
They both shouted and ran out of her room, she chased after them but the little things were faster than their tiny legs would suggest.
" Come back here you little imps." She shouted to no avail. They ran downstairs to her mother.
" Ho, What’s this I hear about you having a boyfriend? Is it that Cyril boy down the street, I see the way he looks at you." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Her mother asked teasingly, Annie felt embarrassed for reasons she couldn’t explain.
It was not like she had a boyfriend, Adrian never officially asked her to be his girlfriend.
" Have you heard from Adrian?" Her faster asked. Annie shook her head.
" Give him some time sweetie, the poor kid must be devastated, he just lost his entire family, I’m sure he’ll call you soon."
Her family had also attended the funeral and they say how close she and Adrian were, they had known that boy since he was a little kid that could barely walk.
They too were worried about him, infact they had planned to take him in for the entire year to live with then until he turns 18 and can legally take control of his parents estate.
Unfortunately he disappeared before they could even ask.
" Perhaps he’s living with his aunt." Her father commented drawing her attention.
" Aunt?" She asked, Annie has never heard of any aunt of Adrian, he had never mentioned her once.
Infact he always talked as if his parents and little sister were the only family he had, hearing about an aunt now was surprising.
" Yeah, I remember Margaret introducing us to a woman who looked exactly like her, I think her name was Meg, Megan? I can’t remember but it was along those lines."
Her mother explained casually while preparing cereal for Annie’s little siblings.
" I’ll be in my room." Hearing that Adrian had an aunt he never even mentioned to her was more heartbreaking than it should have been.
She lay in her bed and wondered if he even loved her, if he thought about her as much as she thought about him.
She had no idea how much harder he had it

Adrian clasped the teddy bear in his hands tightly yet trying hard not to damage it with his claws.
As a werewolf his senses and feelings were more enhanced than that of humans. The teddy bear was a gift from Annie, something she gave him to remember her by.
As such it had her scent, the overwhelming scent that was making him lose control.
His eyes turned silver and he transformed into his second phase. The only thought running through his head were that of her.
He instinctively knew what feeling was, they had marked each other, they were destined mates.
As a human, such feelings were more controllable, she could even marry and have children with somebody else.
He wouldn’t even be able to get it up with another woman. It was either her or nobody, if he turned her, her feelings would be just as intense.
But he shrugged off such thought, he didn’t know what effect changing somebody would have on them.
Fortunately he was going to find out during the next moon three weeks from now.
