Chapter 24: Chapter 24: The Farm Family

Annie POV

Annie’s life continued peacefully, she was still deeply worried about Adrian and couldn’t stop thinking about him.

However she figured he would reach out when he wanted and she stopped beating herself over his disappearance.

She continued going to school and spending time with her friends, her life was back to normal.

The detective Sanchez showed up.

" Really you found him, is he alright?" She asked impatiently, being told Adrian was alive and in this city made her happy.

If it was up to her she would’ve ran to find him by now. Detective Sanchez sighed.

" Based on your reaction, I assume he hasn’t contacted you, if he does, please inform me."

Annie grew worried, " Is something wrong? Is Adrian in trouble?"

The detective gave her a pitiful look, " That is yet to be seen, goodbye miss Annie."

Annie watched as the detective drove away, she rushed home to tell her parents. When they heard was alive they sighed with relief.

However when she explained what the detective had said, they grew worried as well.

Unfortunately there was nothing they could do to help but pray for his safety.

’ Adrian, what have you gotten yourself into?’ Annie couldn’t help but wonder.

Adrian’s POV

After last night, Meggie refused to let him leave the house again, when she needed something she went and bought it herself.

He could only watch longingly for the outside world but could not reach it, ’ Oh the suffering.’

" Adrian, lets go." He heard Meggie call him and he went downstairs. Meggie has delayed his test for a few days.

Today he was finally going to test his limits again. She drove to the outskirts of the city on a large farm.

" Where are we going?" He couldn’t help but ask.

" To a friend of mine." There reached the farm and she parked Infront of an old looking house.

The door opened and out came an old couple followed by a young woman carrying a two year old child.

Adrian already knew they were Fayera, he could smell the esper inside their bodies. He just didn’t know what type of Fayera they were.

They got out of the car and Meggie went to hug the young woman carrying a child. She talked to them and the mood turned sour.

With his super hearing he heard their conversation. Meggie had asked them about the child’s father.

The old man explained that he met a pack of Krabol in the city and they followed him when he left.

From the message he left he took a detour to lead them away from the far. Adrian knew about the Krabol.

Meggie had taught him about the different Fayera, not all of them but a lot, especially the lower ones like the Krabol.

Krabol were a race of shape shifters that can take the form of a hyenas, they were larger and stronger than normal hyenas.

Plus they were a bit humanoid, from the pictures he saw, their front legs looked a bit like humans hands but with three fingers.

While they walked on four they can also stand on two to attack with with front claws. To humans they were monsters who could rip a hundred knights to shreds. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

However they were a lower race of Fayera, it was a miracle if one of them reached level 2 but anything beyond that is impossible.

Adrian didn’t know how high werewolves were in ranking, that’s why Meggie wanted to test him.

The purity of his esper as well as how easy he can control it would determine that. He turned to the family.

They continued talking to Meggie, after explaining her purpose for coming here the family easily agreed.

They drove through a field of corn and rescued an empty plain, there were no signs of human life around.

Adrian wondered who this family was to own such a large piece of land, most of all he wondered what race they were.

But for one of them to be targeted by things like the Krabol, they could only be from a weaker race, probably a herbiyera.

The Fayera were divided into three groups, herbiyera who eats plants, they were usually weak and peaceful, most were cowardly too.

Omniyera who ate both, those are races who are mostly human like, like the witches and a lot of other races.

Most Fayera were actually Omniyera, even the Krabol, they can eat human food too, vampires also fell under his group.

Of course while most were omniyera, they still preferred meat or blood since it’s what gave them more power.

Then there were those who ate only meat like the ogre’s, even when disguised as humans.

They can eat other types of food as long as it wasn’t a plant of any kind. They were allergic to a plant diet.

This family didn’t look like any of the dangerous races.

" Okay, first test is your speed." Meggie brought him out of his thoughts.

" Speed? Should I just run?" He was about to sprint when she stopped him.

" You’ll be chasing me." The old man replied causing Adrian to raise his eyebrows.

" No offence old man but can your bones handle it?" He asked causing the old man to laugh.

" Thank you for your concern young man but don’t worry, these old bones can still handle a little run."

Adrian said nothing else, the old man stood five metres Infront of Adrian and started changing.

His clothes were ripped apart as he grew larger until he stood 2.3 metres tall.his skin turned pink.

His head grew bald and turned into a humanoid pig. His upper body remained bare.

Adrian recognised his species, he was an orc, a omniyera race but one whose diet leaned more towards plants.

They were ranked lower than the Krabol in terms of strength and they were considered a delicately by meat loving Fayera.

Living so far out of town was definitely not safe for them, he wondered how they planned to defend themselves of discovered by another race.

The old man went down on all fours, his hands still looked like those of a human but larger.

His feet however had turned into pig hooves, " Go." Meggie shouted.

The ground cracked below the old man and he took off leaving a trail of dust behind.
