Demon Slayer: Rise of The First Werewolf-Chapter 57: First Case
An entire week went by, Sanchez didn’t go to work for the entire week, her partner Brown came to check on her.
He found her looking like a mess, she flinched the moment she saw him and looked genuinely scared.
" You’re okay?" He asked with genuine concern making her heart feel warm, she smiled gently and nodded.
She thought about telling him but her mouth wouldn’t open, ’ Damn you Adrain.’ she cursed in her mind.
After talking for some time, Brown left and went back to work leaving her alone in her house.
She slumped on the couch and sighed heavily. " Damn I’m a mess." She whispered to herself mockingly.
" Yeah I can see that." A familiar voice replied behind her making her jump in fear. She instinctively grabbed her gun then placed it down.
" What do you want?" She asked the person standing behind her, eating her snacks.
" For you to keep your end of the deal of course." Adrian replied like the answer was obvious.
Sanchez clicked her tongue, " Deal? You have a funny way of calling slavery." She replied sarcastically.
" You think you’re a slave?" Adrain asked with genuine confusion.
" What do you call this, you basically forced me to work for you, in fact slavery is better because they have the choice to disobey their master."
Adrian snapped his fingers, " Exactly, so, you’re lower than a slave but don’t worry, besides what we agreed upon I won’t make you do anything else you don’t want.
Besides, this is better for both of us, you leave unsolved cases to our new detective agency.
Since we technically can’t go public, you’ll be our front and we’ll solve the hard cases for you.
If they’re related to the supernatural world then great, if not you still win don’t you." He answered.
She clicked her tongue at that because he was right, it was the whole reason she moved back here.
Her parents were rich, not slightly rich but filthy rich which is why she had such a big house.
However they had moved out of this city when she was around 13 to go live in another country for her parent’s business.
She instead chose to be a cop and then moved back here when she became a detective for a simple reason.
This place was not too big, it used to be her home and it had a lot of unsolved cases, perfect for somebody trying to prove to her parents she can be somebody without their money.
However when she got here she found out exactly why they were unsolved, they couldn’t be solved.
There were zero leads and now she knew why that was, how could they mere humans solve cases involving the supernatural.
What neither of them understood was that those cases were solved by the organisation.
The organisation were in a agreement with the vampires and the other man eating Fayera.
There was a quota of humans they can take per year and there were also those they couldn’t touch.
Sanchez didn’t know this so she had to agree that his proposal sounded good, she just didn’t like that he did that thing to her, compulsion or something.
" You need to go back to work, I’m bored." He told her then he left.
-----------------------------
Adrain wasn’t lying, the only reason he did all of this was out of boredom. He couldn’t go hunting too much or he’ll draw too much attention.
He had always loved detective movies and wanted to be one himself, while he won’t be a real detective, he can at least play one.
Plus he had gotten a letter from Meggie last night, it didn’t tell him where she was or when she was coming back.
He almost ripped the entire thing in half and burnt it but the last part told him to not leave the city and explained why.
According to the letter, his life might be in danger, it didn’t explain why but told him the city would be safe, especially the house.
She said the city was designed as a magic circle itself, its layout formed a sealing magic circle.
Nothing above level 2 can enter the city and the house had a protection barrier, without invitation.
No supernatural being will be able to enter the house and in the case that he is attacked, he is to hide there.
She apologised again for leaving abruptly and told him he will understand why she had to someday.
While he couldn’t understand anything, he decided to trust her and not leave the boundaries of the city.
On the letter there was also a code, when he got home punched it in the computer it took him to a secret site.
Hidden even deeper than the dark web, it was the supernatural site and there he saw the supernatural world news.
" Oh shit, this is what I was forgetting." He saw the news about a Shaggathan nest breaking.
Although he didn’t know the Shaggathan, after seeing the pictures he recognised them as the creatures he saw in that cave.
Then he saw news about small towns being wiped out by packs of the Shaggathan and panicked.
He wondered if Moonville was one of them, fortunately it wasn’t, he couldn’t help but sigh. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Although he couldn’t say he loved Moonville, he had grown up there, it was his home and held some value in his heart.
He told Sam about the news and his reaction was exactly like his. Just like that, a few days passed then he received a call while playing video games.
To be honest video games were boring to him now, his speed, eye and hand coordination had become so good all games were too easy.
" Yellow." He answered and heard Sanchez’s voice on the other end. " Oh detective it’s you, you got something for us?"
" Yeah, there’s a been new case that looks like it’s related to one of your own."
" Okay, please don’t call them one of my own, We’re not the bsane things okay."
" Fine, lets meet at John’s bar tonight at 8." Sanchez hanged up the phone.
Adrain smiled, " Yoh, we got a case."
" For real dude? That’d be great man I’m bored out of my mind." Sam answered.
