Depraved Hero's Path: Enslaved Monster Girl Harem In The Apocalypse!-Chapter 13: Katherine
Chapter 13 - Katherine
"We've had to defeat way more Skeletons to get to this building." Keith muttered, standing in front of the entry.
"Yes." Chloe nodded. "There were a dozen Goblins in front of the gymnasium. As for Skeletons, there were more than 30 standing in our way."
"That makes sense though, right?" Marianne shrugged. "I mean... Skeletons are much easier to deal with."
The two nodded in agreement.
"So? Should we-"
'Marianne.'
They turned towards Marianne, who had frozen mid-sentence.
'Marianne, can you hear me?'
The face turned into the most twisted frown.
"Ugh! Get out of my head! I don't want to hear you inside of my head, you creep! Get out!"
Keith turned towards Chloe, and she shook her head.
"I don't think she's talking to you..." She whispered. "Well, I apologize on her behalf if she is..."
'Wait? Telepathy? Can you hear me as well? Ugh, and this Mark stings when you talk in my head!'
Marianne waited, but he didn't say a word for a couple of seconds.
'How are things going on your end?'
'Guess he can't hear me telepathically.' She sighed. "They're going well." Marianne answered out loud. "We're just about to-"
'I'm just fucking with you. I can't hear anything you say. Wonder if it worked... Hey, did you talk?'
"..."
'Well, wouldn't know anyways. I assume things went well. If you want to prove your worth, leave those two and head to the area West. Social sciences, right? Get the clean-up started. Bring the Goblins with you.'
'This son of a bitch.' Marianne cursed internally, fuming. 'Ordering me telepathically is too much!'
'Actually, ask the others if they can make it without you and the Goblins. If so, then go.'
'Since he's not telling me anything about how things went on his end, I assume they went well... Not that I care.'
'Anyways, so um... Transmission over?'
Marianne let out a deep sigh.
"Can you two handle it here?"
Chloe and Keith exchanged looks.
"Sure."
"Yeah, I think so. Even defeated a couple myself."
"Alright, well..." She turned in the direction of the Faculty of Social Sciences. "See ya."
'...'
'That's it?'
Marianne walked in silence for a bit.
Her gaze fell on the two Goblins standing in front of her.
"We're in the same boat, huh?" She sighed. "Should I give you two names?"
The Goblins didn't turn in her direction nor react.
'...' She pressed her lips together. "Quest?"

While the Corrupted Harpies left the Boss Room through the windows they had entered from, Elijah walked out the door, closing it behind him.
'That's one thing done.' He nodded to himself before turning away from the door.
A couple of steps later,
'"Huh." He scratched his cheek. "She really is napping."
Indeed, she was seated on the ground with her back against the wall.
Elijah stared for a moment at the beige cable-knit sweater that beautifully and tastefully blanketed her huge-
He shook his head, catching himself turning into the creep that Marianne was warning about.
Elijah did find her rather stylish though. Her black bants and brown boots complimented the beige cable-knit sweater nicely. It was simple, but very appeasing to the eye.
The reason his gaze had suddenly gone towards the sweater was, first, to check for her wound. It had completely healed, and there wasn't a trace of blood on her.
"System, what's that about?"
[When one's HP is full, further healing can restore certain Low Rank Items.]
"Clothes being Low Rank Items." He nodded. "Interesting. Wonder if there's a way to use that..."
He walked closer.
'Just like Keith, she's sure to be useful. First of all, because she has already showcased initiative and skill,' The dead Goblins all over the first floor were more than enough proof. 'And second of all, because she's older than the college jerk offs. Maybe be a professor? Or an employee of the cafeteria? In any case, it's commendable to fight when others hide.'
Elijah bent his back and placed his hand on her shoulder, causing the napping woman's eyes to open suddenly.
"Ah... Hope I didn't scare you there."
A couple of silent seconds passed. She stared at him with confused eyes before looking away.
"Not at all."
"...?"
"I was just napping, like you told me to."
Elijah smiled as he crouched, moving his head so that her gaze would meet his.
"Yeah? That's great. We're going to get along well."
"Y... You think? Why do you say that?" She asked while pushing a lock of hair off her face.
"Cause I love people who do as I say." Elijah answered with a smile before standing back up.
'Love...'
He extended a hand to her, and she stared at it for a moment.
"Can you stand?"
Her gaze moved to his face, and she remained immobile.
'It's worse than I thought...' She thought to herself. 'First, he saved me from certain death, he healed me with his hand! Then fought a Monster that I couldn't get to, fought a Monster so that others wouldn't have to...' She felt her heart start to beat faster. 'Extending me a hand to help me get up... He's...'
She pressed her lips together as he helped her to her feet.
"Do you have a name?"
"Y-Yes. Katherine."
The two remained standing for a while.
'He's tall, handsome, and kind...' Katherine looked at him with glittering eyes. 'He's...'
"Katherine, huh?" Elijah chuckled. "Must be fate then."
The shine in her eyes grew more intense.
"You can let go of my hand now."
"Ha... Haha! Yes, sorry." Katherine chuckled nerveously.

He smiled and started walking away.
"Come with me, Katherine."
Just like the Devil had sent Monsters and Demons down on the world, God...
Katherine gulped.
"Yes..." She whispered before running to join his side. "W-What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Your name... How should I call you?"
"Hm..." He took a deep breath in. "Elijah is fine."
She nodded. Elijah started walking. She remained standing, staring at his back.
'Elijah...'
Just as the Devil had sent Monsters and Demons, God had sent her...
'An Angel! He's an Angel!'
For saving her, for healing her, for-
"A-Are you coming?"
"Yes!" Katherine shouted and joined his side. "So, um..." She raised her Marked hand. "What's this?"
