Chapter 44: Divine Wishes Don’t Come Free

On returning to reality...

"He got three divine wishes!" watching the flaming gold gems in Zaja’s hand, the priest gasped for breath his eyes turning green with greed and murderous desires.

Being granted divine wishes by any god was such a rare feat, much less from the most divine of all gods— Helios. But getting three wishes from a top ranking god was more than enough to become a legend in all of the Ethereal Realm, and Helios was known for his stinginess as well, that’s why the priest became so overly filled with anger and envy.

Hillary, Prince Egil, the priest and the surviving guest watched with rapt attention, all of them wondering what wishes Zaja would ask for.

With a subtle smile, Zaja crushed the first stone, causing trails of golden energies to coil up his form. Rings of fiery sparks rotated Zaja’s heart, and Helios unique essence appeared in Zaja’s heart.

Then, he crushed the second stone, triggering his Shadow Fire flames to go haywire for a split second and then mix with the divine flames, lighting his ceremonial robes on fire, replacing them with a unique set of red robes that burned at extreme temperatures.

The knowledgeable amongst those who watched recognized the robe immediately it materialized. But before they could digest its implications, a red essence came out of Zaja’s chest and it took shape of all his Red Veil Arcane beast one by one in continuous succession. From Naga to Egar and the rest of the twelve and Zaja could feel both Naga and Egar return to full fitness.

"You’ve been with me through the highs and low Naga, so its only right you enjoy this the most," Zaja said with a smile as the essence represented the image of the last of the Red Veil Arcane Beasts and returned to that of Naga, and the shape changed to something else, adding more features and layers, meaning that Naga was getting a massive upgrade.

Zaja turned his focus to Egil who was watching with wide eyes, "I don’t understand. Didn’t you want to stab me in the chest or deal off with my head? I was serious, you know. If you can take it, my head is truly yours. That being said, I have fulfilled my end of the bargain. So how about you fulfill yours and give me the land and the title deeds of Kish?" Zaja asked with a calm and yet mischievous tone, tightening his fist around the third stone.

"What the hell is this? Some kind of parade? Stop playing around, I can see that I cannot make out with your head, my father will do something about the territory of Kish..." when the Kings image flashed through Egil’s mind, the crown prince went livid, stuttering for words.

"Oh my goodness! What? What? What have you made me give my father? You will give me your last wish to save him if something goes wrong!!! bastard!!!"

"The hell are you talking about you fucker? I didn’t make you do anything... you are really fond of laying false accusations on me aren’t you? You were simply greedy all because of a woman that was never yours to begin with... you wanted something to help you keep your elders out of this, and I gave you just that," Zaja said with a straight forward tone, sending Egil reeling with the realization that he’d likely doomed his father to death or worse...

"You bloody bastard, You didn’t." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"Of course I did. But don’t worry. The Queen Mother... your grand mother is one tough nut. With her presence and help, your father has just a little above thirty percent chance of survival... well if we put in account that your grand mother can be impatient a times, then we might as well drop that percentage to zero," Zaja siad and with one squeeze, crushed the third stone.

Zaja released a crystal ball and the image of Percival choking in his office of the Royal Palace appeared

for everyone to see. In that instant, Egil’s heart shattered at the pain he had caused his dear father, the Queen Mother had successfully drained the mist.

Egil’s lips curled into a radiant smile. But the next moment, a flurry of divine flames embroiled Percival’s body, also lighting the Queen Mother on fire.

"My King! Father?! Dad!? Grand mother?! wait what is going on, are they burning?!!" Egil snapped and reached for the holographic projection with despair in his eyes. His hands went through the image like scorching hot knife through butter, making no difference to reality or even the outcome of the events.

"Thanks to the way I have worded my wish, you have but a couple of seconds before your beloved elders burn to ashes. So, what are you going to do? I’m I going to get the land of Kish?" Zaja said with a mischievous grin.

"Ten, nine, eight..." Zaja didn’t care, starting the count for Percival and the Queen Mother’s lives.

"Damn it!! fucking stop! Stop! Alright! I agree, spare them and you can have the Custodian of Kish, the land will be yours." watching his father roast in divine flames, Egil didn’t hesitate to surrendering to Zaja’s terms.

"You know that after you agree to this, it would mean that you are to be killed under the law, because you gave a political property without the consent of the King and his cabinet...?" Zaja asked in a calm and serious tone, causing Egil to give a series of weak head nods.

"It’s fine. I finally realize that my life isn’t worth that much to keep. My father would want me dead anyway, but if I can trade it to save his life and that of my grand mother, then so be it. I just hope he can find the heart to forgive me even after I am gone..." Egil bursts into laughter, throwing his head back and staring at Hillary dos Wagner.

Zaja didn’t reply, he just snapped his fingers and the divine punishment roasting Percival and the Queen Mother stopped immediately.

"Hillary dos Wagner... why couldn’t you wait for me? I would have found a way for us to be together... why could you wait!"

"And you even went further to agree to be his servant? Me... Egil the Prince was desperately trying to get married to a noble woman who is so shameless she became a commer’s servant. Do you have any idea what that makes me look like?" Egil asked in a bitter, frustrated tone, causing Hillary, who had been avoiding eye contact since to cast the Prince a sidelong glance.

"What is this? The crown prince of the Ironforge Dominion is kneeling to him. So why is it so surprising that I too have chosen to bend the knee? You have basically agreed to become his stepping stone. I have agreed to become his servant, we are basically in the same boat, but I am better off. So i don’t know where you are getting the courage to speak such utter garbage to my face..." Hillary sneered at Egil, instantly making the prince go livid.

This outburst even seemed to shock Zaja, as he raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Ohhh, she is feisty..."
