Devil Slave (Satan system)-Chapter 1249: Journey Must Be Done Alone
The air in this place was thick with an unnatural humidity, almost as if the atmosphere itself was holding its breath. Above, the sky churned with streaks of red and gold, the swirling colors reflecting off the metallic edges of the City that had landed above like a great predator.
Then, the sound of war cries pierced the haze.
Enel’s head tilted, his cocky grin creeping across his face. ’Finally,’ he thought. ’A warm welcome.’
The dense fog created by the landing began to clear, swirling away to reveal the figures charging toward them. The beings of this plane were unlike any Enel had seen before.
They were tall, with elongated limbs and skin that shimmered like polished obsidian. Their eyes glowed a molten orange, streaks of the same color running like veins along their bodies, pulsating with each heartbeat. Their faces were sharp and angular, almost predatory, with long, horn-like protrusions curling back from their foreheads.
They carried weapons fashioned from crystalline material that glinted in the dim light—halberds, swords, and shields that looked as deadly as they were beautiful. Their movements were precise, almost too coordinated, like they were part of a singular consciousness driving them forward.

"Demons!" one of them roared, its voice guttural and filled with rage. It pointed directly at Enel and the others, its clawed hand trembling with fury. "The demons have returned! Destroy them!"
The horde surged forward, their war cries blending into a cacophony that reverberated across the barren plane.
Enel raised an eyebrow, his golden eyes gleaming with amusement as he watched the scene unfold. "Demons, huh?" he muttered to himself, his hand resting casually on his hip. "Well, they’ve got the wrong guy. But hey, close enough."
Just then, his communication device buzzed, and Perseus’s voice crackled through.
"Enel," Perseus said, his tone tense. "I know where we are now."
"Oh, good," Enel replied, ducking slightly as one of the beings’ crystalline spears whizzed past his head. "Mind sharing with the class?"
"This is the territory of the Greed Royal Demons," Perseus said, his voice grim.
Enel’s grin widened. "The Greed demons, huh? Figures. Guess they’re not the only ones feeling territorial today."
The lead figure screamed again, its voice echoing with fury as it raised its crystalline weapon high. The horde followed, rushing toward him like a living wave.
Enel stood his ground, a spark of excitement lighting up his face. "Alright, then," he muttered, rolling his shoulders. "Let’s see what you’ve got."
At the same time, He got alert from the systems.
<Alert: Defeat the War lord of Kamala for 100 points across all stats, and invest Hate in the Residence>
The Alert this time around was silently different that usual, telling him to invest Hate in them. Enel did not understand why this was so, but he did not mind. After all, it was a hundred free points for mere kicking ass.
This much he could do.
Before Enel could act, a blur shot past him.
"Tomato, wai—"
It was too late. Tomato leapt high into the air, her reptilian tail whipping behind her as she sailed over his head and landed in the midst of the battlefield with an earth-shaking thud. The ash-like ground cracked beneath her feet, and her towering figure cast an imposing shadow over the advancing horde.
She straightened, her glowing yellow eyes locking onto the creatures before her. Then, she tilted her head back and let out a deafening roar. The sound was primal and thunderous, rolling across the barren plane like a shockwave. The air itself seemed to vibrate with its intensity, and for a moment, everything was still.
The creatures froze mid-charge, their crystalline weapons trembling in their hands. One by one, their glowing eyes flickered with something Enel recognized instantly—fear.
The leader, the same one who had screamed about demons, slowly lowered its weapon. It glanced at Tomato, then back at its companions, as if trying to find courage. But whatever bravado it had vanished in an instant.
With a loud clatter, the leader dropped its weapon, turned, and sprinted in the opposite direction.
"What are you doing?!" one of the others yelled. But before long, the rest followed, their fear overwhelming any sense of duty. Within moments, the battlefield was empty, the shimmering figures disappearing into the distance like frightened animals.
Tomato turned back to Enel, a wide grin on her face. She placed her hands on her hips and giggled. "Handled it!" she announced proudly, her long tail swishing behind her. "Now, I deserve a reward!"
Before Enel could react, she pounced, wrapping him in an enthusiastic embrace.
"Ugh, Tomato!" Enel groaned as he stumbled backward, her weight nearly knocking him off balance. Her tail coiled around him for good measure, pinning his arms to his sides.
She nuzzled his cheek affectionately, her giggle echoing in his ear.
Enel let out a long, exasperated sigh, his free hand coming up to slap his forehead. "I swear," he muttered under his breath, "I’m trying to reclaim my powers, not run a daycare."
Tomato pulled back slightly, tilting her head at him. "What was that?"
"Nothing," Enel said quickly, shaking his head. He looked at her, then at the distant horizon where the creatures had fled. "At this rate, I might be stuck at square one forever."
Tomato grinned, clearly unbothered by his frustration. "You’re welcome!"
Enel sighed again, his expression a mix of amusement and resignation. "Yeah, thanks… I guess."
<Alert: Mission failed. Penality clause -20 points on all stats>
Now he was most definitely certain that if he continued to roll with this people, then he was not going to get anywhere. what he needed to do was leave, and grow on his own.
Then again, that was the way Enel knew how to roll. On his own.
He looked to the weird sky and sighed deeply. The earlier the better.
But that brought up another thing to his head. If he was going to go out there, he needed information. after all, he was an assassin by nature. Information was power.
