Devil Slave (Satan system)-Chapter 1280: Power Of Religion
Marian smirked faintly. "The catch," she said, "is that it’ ll require breaking a few sacred traditions. And let’ s just say it’ s not going to win us any friends here... Also, you will have to lose something of vital importance."
"What ’Thing of vital importance are we talking of here?" Enel raised a brow at her.
"Our magic!" Allison suddenly spoke up.
"Our magic!?"
"Yes. Other creatures of the universe, safe for an abnormality like Lord Tomato, unlike humans, cannot survive without magic. they literally need to breathe air and in some cases, to feed and digest their food. It is another aspect that the human anatomy differs from others. We can survive with or without magic. In fact according to the ancient texts, humans had always survived without magic.
At least, they could last up to a hundred years before the lack of magic eventually makes them age and then they die. Incredibly enough, for humans, such is considered the norm. But for other creatures, it was not."
Enel nodded at Marian’s words. What she said was indeed true. He remembered all the times he had dissected the bodies of other creatures.
They always had a different kind of heart compared to the human four chambered heart. for some, extra chambers was specifically for pumping magic through out the body, and for some other creatures such as Demons and Devils, they had entire separet heart organs that helped with their magic.
Enel had long theorized that they needed magic to survive. He had even used it as a point to swiftly enact the death of enemies in the past.
Commander Marian went on to explain that they had to drink Willingly from what was known as the ’Bowl Of Forgiveness’, and then their magic would be washed away. If they survived the magic leaving their bodies without dying, then it meant that their soul was pure enough to carry their bodies without any magic and of course, the significance that they were ready to forgo even their source of survival for the chance to have the closest communication with the One Above All Of heaven.
Enel raised a brow at her words. Now, more then ever, his suspicion about certain things grew. But first, he thought to inform Perseus back home that they had entered the city. Not that it was overly important, but perseus had asked that he checked in on them once in a while, after all, they were a part of his assets and they did have connections in different part of the cosmos that could be useful to them.
If possible, he would definitely not like to drink from any ’Bowl Of Forgiveness’ After all, he was not sure what was in there.
He pressed on a thin ban on his arm, "Perseus!" He called out, but all he got in return was static. he tried again and again, but it was the same thing.
Perseus had told him that the band width of this device could cut through half of the none universe. that was how far their technology had come, but things were not going as they should.
What Enel did not know was that at the moment back at the Werewolf city, Perseus had ordered that the radio towers be repaired as quickly as possible.
After all, they had been blown up. Almost as simultaneous as the portal had been blown up. all of it was an elaborate plan by the woman caring a smile before his face.
"Maybe we are just too far from home. I suggest that we try again another time."
Enel nodded at her words. After all, they could not back away now. They were human by origin, at least all of them except Enel who was something that even he could not understand. then again, he still had human base Dna, so it might have been possible for him to actually survive without his magic. Then again, he really did not mind the experiment.
For some weird reason in his head, he thought it was going to be a lot of fun.

And so they made their way through the tall winding buildings through the red sand streets until they reached a certain part of the city. Here, they were people rushing over towards an altar.
On the Altar were priests all of them stationery except for one. All of them had special golden robes on and symbols mixed with runes that covered up most of their faces.
The people that flocked towards this altar all did not have that defining mark of those that had gone through the trial on their faces.
This meant that they were all like Enel and his party.
The people here tried to get the priest in the middle’s attention. in his hand was a bowl. And from it, he poured sips of its content into the mouths of people that flocked over the altar.
this substance similarly gave a golden radiance.
<Alert: Substance of FATE detected. Note: host should avoid ingesting this substance as it has the potential to inhibit the activities of the Satan system.>
This alert was a surprise to Enel. This was the first time that he was getting such an alert. However, as things were, he could not just randomly walk through the main gates leading to the prophets chambers.
The guards here were no joke, and they were hundreds of them.
Then again, he did not even need the system to warn him before he knew that the substance was dangerous. The biggest reason for this was because at one side of the altar, was pile of freshly dead bodies as huge as a small mountain.
These were all people that had taken the substance, but were unfortunate to have lost their lives the moment that they lost their magic.
Yet, ironically enough, they were still many people, rushing over to have a sip of this same drink to prove their faith, regardless of the obvious dead at the side.
"Hmmm! The power of religion..." Enel commented.
