Divine Emperor of Death-Chapter 2613: Pulling On Strings
Rea Tyriel screamed. She was just once again about to break the spatial talisman, but the rope tightened on her wrist again, causing her to stay her hand but turn incensed over the ridiculous of the situation.
"You...! Just what do you want!?"
Rea Tyriel's eyes gleamed at him as her cheeks blushed. This kind of treatment was something she had never faced in her life. Black Tyriel was also visibly angered, but with Davis holding the rein, there was nothing they could do but negotiate with him.
"What do I want?" Davis appeared taken aback, "It's you people who attacked me. I wished that we could remain friends, but it seems that it's not possible."
"..."
Rea Tyriel stared at him while swinging in mid-air. It was unknown what she was thinking, but Davis appeared to see that she had loosened her grip on the spatial talisman.
It was because Davis knew that she could escape that he wasn't going to let her fall. That was a needless cause for enmity. In his mind, he understood that they were the ones in the wrong since Tanya made a fool of Rea Tyriel, but that didn't just mean he was going to step back and let her discipline his Tanya.
Instead, he was going hypocritically to double down. However, he didn't think of harming Rea Tyriel as that would bring more problems.
Rea Tyriel was the heiress of the Tyriel Family that owned a domain like the Aurora Cloud Gate. If he offended her until there were no chances of talks between them, then he must be prepared to kill thousands of Immortal Kings at the very least.
A reason like getting clowned on leading to an all-out massacre was childish in his perspective, to say the least.
Therefore, using this terrain to his advantage, he provoked them with his languid and mocking smile and unleashed death energy to scare them, causing them to fall. With his help, he thought if he could get her to calm down and make a truce at the very least, then that would be the most beneficial result he could obtain in this situation.
Davis waited for her answer, but the pressure on his arm was starting to grow, causing his arm to tremble.
Rea Tyriel's expression changed upon seeing his arm tremble heavily.
"Fine, I'll ignore this matter once, so pull us up." She gritted her teeth, looking reluctant.
"Really?" Davis's brows frowned, "You shouldn't lie."
"You-" Rea Tyriel felt her cheeks burn as somewhere in her heart, she couldn't help but feel that he was doing this on purpose.
The life-saving talisman wasn't exactly going to save her life as it was unknown where it would transport her in this icy hellish region, so rather than relying on chance, since Davis extended an olive branch, she was willing to take it.
However, she didn't want to look weak, causing her to hesitate.
Davis saw her beautiful face churn. Before she could go crazy and declare full-on war, he began to pull her up. There was a limit to how much he could belittle a prideful woman like her.
"Alright, I'll believe you. The Young Mistress of the Tyriel Family obviously wouldn't deign to lie."
"..."
Rea Tyriel's big bosoms heaved as she heaved a heavy breath. She turned to look down and saw that Black Tyriel was still in her light energy's grasp, causing her to heave a sigh of relief.
Davis was pulling on the rope made of his dark energy. He was slightly finding it difficult to pull them up. However, he wondered if he should act like he was finding it extremely difficult to pull them up, causing him to laugh inwardly. He would like to see the face of nervousness in them again.
"...!"
But at this moment, he abruptly moved to the side, causing Rea Tyriel to swing heavily to the side.
"What the...!"
Just as she became incensed and was about to curse, she saw a black-robed man's severed body fall into the abyss as it plunged past beside her, causing her to blink in shock.
"My apologies. Had to deal with an assassin..."
Davis extended his head and wryly smiled, continuing to pull the dark energy rope before he finally brought them up after a whole minute. He did not intentionally play with her, but that was how long it took for him to pull them up because the pressure pulling on them from below the abyss was heavier than the mountains weighing on them.
Rea Tyriel pounced toward the rocky surface as soon as she was in range. Black Tyriel, who was also being dragged along by Rea Tyriel, was hurled toward the surface before he regained balance.
He cawed at Davis in a fit of fury. Rea Tyriel also angrily looked at Davis, but the both of them suddenly came to a stop as they saw a black scar adorn the back of his shoulder.
'Poison...!' Rea Tyriel's eyes squinted, causing her face to turn shocked as she once again saw his indifferent expression.
Had he pulled them up while enduring the poison without treating it?
She didn't believe it for a second, but the sinister undulations coming from the black blood over the back of his shoulder said otherwise.
"You... are you... fine?"
"It's nothing. Just some Immortal King Grade Poison." Davis sneered, "My first wife is a poison expert, and if I showed it to her, she could instantly dissolve it with how powerful she is also becoming. Until that, my death energy could keep it at bay with no problem."
His tone was so prideful that Rea Tyriel didn't know how to react except stare at his face.
"What... did the assassin carve my face or something...?" Davis touched his face, appearing clueless.
"It's nothing." Rea Tyriel shook her head before she turned around, "Little Black, let's go."
"Don't call me Little Black." Black Tyriel harrumphed before he turned to look at Davis and gave a stern warning with his wide eyes, using his wings to make a throat-cutting gesture.
It only made Davis blink as he found it amusing, but he heard Rea Tyriel's voice again.
"Tell your women not to play games with me again. I'm not foolish enough to unreasonably court trouble with a Divergent, after all."
"..."
Davis didn't say anything as he watched their figures disappear.
But inwardly, he was joyous as he didn't have the need to display his true power once again. However...
"Fuck, so itchy..."
Davis scratched his back after making sure that no one was around, and while he was at it, his life energy instantly sprung up, purifying the poison and healing his wound. While it was true that he took a poison wound from an unknown assassin, it was unexpected that it helped him further smooth things over with Rea Tyriel that he couldn't help but wonder if luck was on his side again.
However, he did recall her face at that time. That was a face he knew. It contained a different emotion than hate or annoyance. It was almost as though she wanted to help him heal the poison but was too prideful to offer. However, considering that they had just cleared their little enmity, he could understand why she wouldn't want to offer her help.
Nonetheless, after he healed up, he continued to leave the trial grounds and arrived at the exit.
After he made his way up and met with a group of explorers, he found that only Rea Tyriel and Black Tyriel had found this entrance, as the others seemed to be clueless.
After asking about the whereabouts of Mystic Diviner Hailac, he went looking for Ellia, as the latter was with the former. Together with her, he planned to quest the main mission.
However, he abruptly stopped in a narrow tunnel, turning to look behind him with an amused expression on his face.
"Another assassin? You guys sure are annoying, but you... you're a special one to be appearing before me."
A black-robed, masked man knelt and raised his hands together as an object appeared over his palm, "Junior master, Master Deathseeker has commanded me to deliver this to you."
