"Dear, the inheritors of the Fire Phoenix Clan didn't seem bad."

Shirley's soft and melodious voice echoed beside Davis, causing him to turn to look at her while they were flying back to their island.

"Why do you say so?"

"Hehe~" Shirley awkwardly giggled, "I don't have any evidence, but the two female inheritors, Hirona and Sierra, particularly seemed nice. Although they were haughty, I think they aren't bad people."

"You do know those two are probably the reason why the Vermilion Bird Clan and Blue Luan Clan are in steep decline, right?"

"…" Shirley became stumped.

She couldn't help but remember Zora Luan and her home, which is located within the Aurora Cloud Gate. Only through the Aurora Cloud Gate's graces were they still surviving to this day. If not, they could've been wiped out by the Fire Phoenix Clan.

Realizing this, she couldn't help but deflate, her expression wilting like a flower behind her veil.

"I think the same too."

"…?"

Suddenly, Davis spoke, causing Shirley to swivel her head at him.

"That they aren't bad people, but that doesn't change the fact that they're dangerous… like us. Depending on who or what the priority is, they could be allies or enemies, so don't dive deep into their clan just because you found some kindred spirits."

"… Sorry." Shirley became embarrassed as she felt seen through.

"What are you saying?" Davis wryly smiled at her, "I'm not saying that you should not talk to them. I'm saying don't be vulnerable to them. If at all you're in muddled waters, you always have me to rely on."

"You're the best!"

Shirley quickly pounced on him and let out a peal of laughter adorably, causing him to chuckle as he came to a stop and spun her around. Although it was her soul body that he was spinning around, the emotions they were experiencing were real.

He soon let go of Shirley and turned to look at his third wife.

"Do you have something to say, Isabella?"

Isabella's imperial golden eyes were serene.

"I think they're fine. However, I don't want to place my trust- Wha- what are you staring at…?"

However, her golden eyes shook as she saw his eyes go slightly wide, his pupils focused on her. She knew this gaze. It was one of a predator locking down on its prey, causing her eyes to tremble as a healthy blush appeared on her cheeks behind her golden veil.

Davis saw her become all shy, causing him to lightly rub his nose.

"It's been a long time that I'm... craving some homemade food."

"Every one of us who were out of seclusion is ready with a feast for you."

"…" Davis returned his gaze to the front and released a steady breath, "I can't wait to get back!"

Isabella and Shirley looked at each other and silently giggled, knowing that they exchanged some flirtatious words.

The three of them flew in the front while Tanya followed behind, not interfering with their reunion.

"…"

But at this moment, Davis's head swiveled as his smiling expression faded away, his eyes turning solemn. Instantly, he rushed into the distance, startling his people. They instantly followed him, only to see him landing before an icy-white-robed woman of noble stature.

"Mistress Yeyin, where are you going?"

Mistress Yeyin was also startled as Davis suddenly blocked her path. She narrowed her eyes at him, taking a step before turning aside and rushing past him.

"Don't go."

Mistress Yeyin stopped.

Davis didn't turn back, his lips continuing to move, "The Ice Phoenix Clan is here, aren't they? They're obviously here to retrieve you back. If you don't believe, just send your sou body and see for yourself."

Her firm shoulders drooped as she turned to look back at him, her expression complicated.

"Why do you care so much about Zahara and me? You keep giving us warnings but never tell us why."

Davis turned to look back at her, his expression appearing complicated, "I already told you. It isn't that I'm keeping it to myself, but it is that I can't tell."

"Then I'll go and find out what's really happening. I don't even know if I'm myself anymore, all because of you."

"Yes, I'm sorry."

"…"

Mistress Yeyin's expression trembled behind her veil as she gazed at the infallible Emperor of Death lower her head to her as though he was really sorry. She couldn't understand. She shot a look at Shirley's soul body, even feeling a faint trace of her own soul in her. Her composure couldn't help but falter, causing her to take a step back and leave.

But suddenly, she came to a stop, causing her eyes to widen before she flailed her hand, but it was firmly caught in Davis's palm.

"You… let go…!"

"I failed to grasp a hand that day, letting them go. It's all my fault."

"…"

Mistress Yeyin's expression churned with confusion and panic. What was this man saying?

"Hoho~" Abruptly, a man in the distance had a wild grin on his face, his hands holding an Imagery Stone recording this scene, "Look at what we got here. The Emperor of Death harassing a woman on a sunny day- what the!?"

*Bang!~*

The Imagery Stone burst, causing that man to stagger back before he turned to look at an icy-white-robed woman beside Davis. Immortal King's undulations radiated from her, crashing down on him.

"Scram if you don't want to be crippled."

Tanya coldly uttered as she unsheathed a sword from her spatial ring, causing the man to turn and fly away without looking back.

Mistress Yeyin gazed at that fleeing man before returning her gaze to Davis. His eyes were imploring her not to go, causing her to feel strange. Nevertheless, her unsteady breathing became somewhat calmer as she opened her mouth.

"Let go."

Davis saw that she had regained composure and let her go. Seeing that she still had a cold look in her eyes, he opened his mouth.

"You can hate me if you want, but I still can't let you go. Once you go back to the Ice Phoenix Clan, there's no telling what will happen to your life. You would either be protected and nurtured or taken advantage of in a ruthless way. I don't want to let the latter happen nor take any chances."

His voice was firm yet gentle, causing her to purse her lips, opening her mouth after a few seconds.

"Am I truly an… inheritor…?"

"…"

Davis didn't say anything, still looking at her with a mild, determined look on his face, hoping that she would understand his sincerity and firmness to let her leave. He couldn't tell her anything about her past lest those maw-like creatures from the void descend again and eat her karmic threads.

Just the recollection of it was terrifying to imagine.

Suddenly, a figure manifested beside Mistress Yeyin.

It was her soul body. It turned around and left for the Visitor Hall, causing Davis and Shirley to heave a sigh of relief as they saw Mistress Yeyin's main body remain.

She had chosen to listen to them.

Soon enough, Law Enforcement disciples appeared on the scene. Most likely, the disciple before had complained about him behaving rudely towards Mistress Yeyin, but once Mistress Yeyin iterated that she wasn't harassed, the Law Enforcement disciples left.

"You doubt my power that protected and nurtured me to this level but little do you know that they only called me to verify the events that happened in the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valley. But since you insist, let's see what happens."

Mistress Yeyin coldly spoke before she touched her forehead with one finger and stretched out the other hand, projecting an icy mirror. Through that mirror, they saw the scene of numerous pathways rushing past them.

They recognized this place. It was just the location they had come from.

Soon, the vision encountered a door and as it was opened, what greeted Mistress Yeyin's soul body were only two people, Elder Aradiel Furiose and the other…

"Ice Phoenix Matriarch…"

Mistress Yeyin's voice quivered ever so lightly.

There was no way the Matriarch herself came to ask the events about the Mercurial Blitz Ice Valley, even though it was a high-profile and near-impossible mission to complete.
