Divine Hack System-Chapter 21 21 - Experience
Chapter 21 21 - Experience
Leo still had 3,560 experience points available after activating the Inventory Hack. Initially he was unsure which skill he should improve: either Aim-Bot, Wall-Hack, or Speed-Hack. Right away the Aim-Bot was already disregarded, since this skill was already at Level 05. Wall-Hack was at Level 03, with 30 meters of range, while the Speed-Hack was at Level 01 with 10% bonus agility.
Leo knew that Agility was very important for him to be able to evade some more powerful monster, but increasing the Wall-Hack's range by 10 meters could be even more important, as he could avoid powerful monsters even more easily or deal with the weaker monsters even further away - without having to get so close and expose himself to so much danger. With these considerations in mind, Leo finally decided to raise the Wall-Hack to level 04, spending 2,000 Experience points and opening his Status after he had made his choice. 𝑓𝘳ℯ𝒆w𝘦𝘣𝙣𝘰ѵ𝘦𝚕.c𝗼𝓶

If Leo had 40 more experience points he could already raise the Aim-Bot to level 06, but he would have to leave that for the next day. He was already tired of hunting the monsters today, plus having to go to the Awakened trading post and then still having to go back and forth to the army. The only thing Leo wanted was to lie down and rest.
The next day, Leo woke up later than usual. Looking at his cell phone, he saw several messages from Chris and two messages from Liza, both worried about why he was missing class, but Leo only replied that he decided to take the rest of the week off to train and hunt monsters while recommending that the two of them do the same as well.
Of course, Leo wasn't going to force his two friends to skip class to train, but he wasn't going to hide the information he received either. If they wanted to believe Leo and do what he recommended, that would be good for them, but if not, Leo was already clear-headed for having done what he could.
A few minutes later, while Leo was eating breakfast, he received a message from each of his friends. Chris didn't think twice and decided to believe Leo. He had seen with his own eyes how powerful Leo was and how he had become an Awakened too late himself. Chris felt he was at a disadvantage compared to the other students and also decided to hunt monsters until the weekend.
Liza, on the other hand, was a little dubious. She knew how damaging it could be for her future if the entrance exam happened and she wasn't in school, so she decided to just skip class on Friday and continue to go to school the other days of the week.
Leo saw her message and saw nothing wrong with it. She had no reason to believe him and put her future at risk, while Leo couldn't come right out and tell his friends he heard this information from an Army Corporal.
With Chris' Quirk, he could hunt Bronze 1 Star monsters alone without any risk. That's why Space Quirks were so special among universities, so Leo wasn't worried about his friend being in danger. So, wearing his backpack and going out with his hands free, Leo felt a lot lighter as he headed out of town, as he didn't have to carry his heavy bow from place to place.
As he passed the city gate, Leo nodded to the two soldiers and entered the forest. He had enough food to spend a few hours in the woods, and he really intended to spend a few hours hunting this time. His skills were getting more and more expensive. With each level that his skills went up, the price in Experience to level up again was doubled, that is, a skill like Aim-Bot that was currently his cheapest skill, now at Level 05 cost 1,600 Experience Points. Level 06 would cost 3,200, Level 07 would cost 6,400, Level 08 would cost 12,800, Level 09 would cost 25,600, and Level 10 would finally reach 51,200 Experience Points!
Of course, yesterday, Leo had gained almost 10k experience points from hunting the Bronze 3 Stars monsters, but considering that Aim-Bot was his cheapest skill, getting Inventory-Hack to reach Level 10 was something Leo was uneasy thinking about how many points he would need.
And considering that he would receive new abilities once he reached Silver Rank, this would become increasingly difficult to sustain, as he knew these new abilities wouldn't come cheap.
'Just as I find it easy to be able to hunt monsters in such an effective way, I'll need more and more Experience to sustain all these skills,' Leo thought, as he took the bow from his inventory and went on alert. He had already entered the Bronze 3 Star monsters' zone, so Leo knew he could already start killing monsters indiscriminately.
The first group of monsters Leo encountered was a group of Gnolls. Through the Wall-Hack, Leo, who was 35 meters away, saw 6 red outlines with a wide body and a crooked spine. The crooked spine was very characteristic of Gnolls, who had the face of hyenas and a small humanoid body. Many mothers even made jokes about these creatures, calling their children Gnolls when their spines were crooked from spending too much time on the computer these days.
Gnolls and Goblins were considered monsters with the same level of difficulty to deal with, but while Goblins had the advantage of intelligence, Gnolls had the advantage of instinct. They were dumber than Goblins, but their noses were much more powerful, being able to smell enemies much further away than Goblins.
Leo was very happy to have leveled up Wall-Hack, as it was known that Bronze 3 Stars Gnolls' smell range was between 20 to 30 meters, depending on the wind. Leo was 35 meters away: a distance slightly greater than the Gnolls' limit. Of course, that didn't mean Leo was safe; it just meant that Leo's scent would take longer for the monsters to notice.
As soon as a Gnoll raised its head and started sniffing suspiciously, Leo already discovered that this Gnoll was starting to smell him. For now, he didn't know what he was smelling actually was and which direction it was coming from, but it would only be a matter of time for him to find Leo standing there. But Leo didn't spend all this time just watching his prey; he already had a plan in mind and felt that Gnolls were the perfect monsters for him at the moment. Leo would have to deal with a Bronze 4 Star Vulpi within a few days, and Gnolls were a lot like Vulpis.
'You will be my training Dummies,' Leo thought, as he shot four arrows with much less pull than usual.
Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh.
Four arrows flew from Leo's bow, almost floating, but because of that, the arrows made less noise as they flew, and before the gnolls realized anything, the four arrows precisely hit the right eye of all four inattentive creatures.
Because Leo didn't use much force on the arrows, only the Gnolls' eyes were injured before the arrows stopped penetrating and didn't hit the brains of these monsters. If he had wanted, Leo could have killed those 4 Gnolls very easily: just put more force into those arrows and the 4 Gnolls hit would have already lost their own brains. But Leo wanted to train.
With the Inventory-Hack, Leo didn't even have to move his hand to pull out more arrows and four more arrows appeared in his hand, causing him to aim his bow much faster than he had previously.
The Gnolls were divided. While the four Gnolls that were hit started screaming in pain and rage as they pulled the arrows out of their eyes, the two Gnolls that weren't hit were left looking at their companions confusedly, trying to understand what had just happened.
Gnolls really were dumb. If they were Goblins, they wouldn't even have tried to pull the arrows out of their eyes and instead run for cover as fast as possible, but the Gnolls were lost trying to understand what was happening without moving from the places where they each were standing.
Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh.
Four more arrows flew. This time, Leo just aimed at the two gnolls that hadn't been hit - two arrows for each Gnoll. In one second both Gnolls were completely blinded. Unlike their four companions who only lost a single eye, these two Gnolls went mad with rage from the arrows stuck in their eyes and started attacking everything around them.
The four gnolls who still had one eye each saw this and walked away from their two companions while barking to warn what was happening, trying to calm their two companions.
Leo just watched from afar with four more arrows loaded in his bow. For now, he just waited and didn't shoot, as he wanted the four Gnolls to calm their two mad comrades first. If he drove the six Gnolls mad, they'd probably kill themselves, covered in rage, so Leo let them calm down first.
A few seconds later four more arrows flew.
Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh, Swoosh.
This time, the Gnolls who had better instincts than the Goblins heard the arrows flying again and related it to the small noise they heard before being hit earlier and tried to dodge it. But Leo was with his Aim-Bot. All these moves of theirs were already calculated by the System program so that he wouldn't miss his targets.
And just as Leo imagined, the four arrows hit the left eyes of the Gnolls who had only previously lost one eye. As they were already calmer, the Gnolls didn't despair, even though they were in so much pain.
At this point, these monsters' instinct was in full force. Their sense of smell, which was already powerful, now became even stronger, and soon the six Gnolls turned their heads towards Leo.
Leo was surprised by this, but finally, a smile came over his face.
'Very well. You've finally turned into the little Vulpi I need to train against,' Leo thought with a smile as he started to run with his bow loaded.
