Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 49: A Stroke of Bad Luck
[15:00]
[Mission Complete]
Ark fell to his knees breathing heavily, his eye was still bleeding and he was feeling pain from all parts of his body. ππππ¦ππππππ·ππ.πΈπ°π
"You actually lasted fifteen minutes." Silver vanished and appeared right next to him.
She took his arm and observed the area where a blood vessel had burst, a bit of annoyance on her face.
"It looks like your body still canβt handle it..."
A screen then appeared before Ark.
[Mission Reward]
[Complete Recovery]
[Do you wish to use (Complete Recovery)?]
[YES] [NO]
Ark stared at the screen in front of him and then looked up at Silver who still had his arm in hers.
"M-my eye... will it be damaged in the real world?"
Silver squatted and slowly removed his hand from the wound.
"No, but you will feel intense pain when we get back."
Ark nodded.
Normally, he would have loved to save this boom, but he was moving today. It would be difficult for him to do so with a weary mind and eye pain.
[YES]
Ark felt strength fill his body as a green light enveloped him. His eye grew back in place and his sore body suddenly felt far better, it was as though he had just woken up.
Ark let out a breath and stretched his head.
"Those little demons..."
Although fighting them had been frustrating, in that short time, he had learned a lot.
From the mistakes he often made down to how to predict enemy movements, he also got a bit more proficient in swinging his heavy Axe.
Another screen then appeared before him.
[Secret Reward]
[White Room Unlocked]
[To visit the white room, say "Open White Room" and you will be transported to this region]
After that, the world around Ark began to collapse and then suddenly, he was back in his room.
Once again, another screen appeared eliciting a groan from Ark.

"Come on! I just died twice, I should at least have a break. I have to move today, you know?"
"You canβt even use your curse properly and you want breaks."
Seated on his chair and watching him with those reflective eyes was Silver, her lips slightly tugged upward.
"And I thought witches had white hair..." Ark muttered, his voice low.
Silverβs eyes widened slightly.
"First a pervert and now a witch?!" Her eyes began to emanate an other-worldly glow.
Suddenly it felt like Ark was suffocating from the thick aura that surrounded him, pushing down against his body with terrible force.
"I, Narrisa and emissary of a Celeste."
She stood up from the chair and Ark took a step back. It was then he realised... Silver did not take insults well.
Her eyes were already moist with tears, and her fists were tightened by her sides.
"I should just let Ethos consume you!βAh"
Her voice trailed off and the aura in the room suddenly vanished.
"Ah?"
Silver went back to her seat and redirected her gaze from him, but it was already too late, she had said too much.
Ark felt this Ethos might just be connected with the apocalypse beast he encountered in the alley.
"Who is Ethos?"
"Huh? Who?"
"You mentioned a name, Ethos. Who is he?"
Suddenly the golden screen paper was in front of Ark once more, but there was only one thing he noticed. His twenty four hours had been cut to five!
"This is clearly an abuse of power!"
Silver smirked, "Youβd best hurry, I have a feeling todayβs punishment will be far worse than others."
***
"N-ninety five, ninety six, ninety seven... one hundred."
Ark collapsed to the floor, clenching his strained arms.
"You are getting better at this, do you think we should up the difficulty?"
Ark glared at Silver from where he lay, and then he rose to his feet, stretching his body.
"How much time do I have left?"
"A little above two hours."
"Letβs go then," Ark said as he left the Center to begin his jog.
Although the streets were packed with people, it was still morning at least, so he appeared normal enough.
His body had been adapting to the strenuous workout over time so he could last for far longer than before.
He was a curse bearer so getting stronger was far easier compared to normal humans and according to Silver, he also had a unique constitution.
Sometime during the jog, it began to rain fiercely, the frenzied winds carrying the rain with far more force than usual.
Ark could find a shade and wait for when the rain would at least settle down, but there was no telling when it would so he kept jogging.
Finally...
[Mission Complete!]
Ark slowed down to a walk, slowly reeling under the rain. Silver was standing next to him as well but the rain just slid past her, unable to touch her.
It seemed he was also the only one that could see her because if the people passing them actually could, their eyes would be glued on the beauty.
They continued walking for some time when Silverβs demeanour suddenly changed, she stared at the road in front of her and then faced Ark.
"Today is a bad day for you isnβt it?"
"What do you mean?" Ark asked, his voice slightly raised due to the rain.
Silver didnβt need to respond though, because Ark saw it for himself.
The ground suddenly splintered, or at least it appeared to. In reality, it was still just the same.
A black long streak spread over the road, approximately seven meters in length, and then it widened, opening like a large black mouth with dark multiple tendrils.
Ark suddenly got a very very bad premonition.
A gate had appeared on the streets of Loraine.
Silver grabbed onto his shoulder and pulled him back, just as the gate rippled, and something emerged from within it.
