Divine Heritage: Only I Can Judge The gods-Chapter 73: Final Preparations and Start of the Apocalypse
There was a deathly silence enveloping the city as everyone nervously anticipated the opening of the gate. Ark was standing high up, on a military construct that had been made at the last minute.
It was a tall wall made out of assembled steel, that was to act as a barrier between them and the apocalypse beasts when the battle would begin.
The region they were in was completely devoid of people, not a single non-military personnel was in sight, which was because they were the first to evacuate.
No one wanted to be in the center of the mess when it would happen.
Along with Ark, were the rest of the squad, only Thalia and Natasha were not with them. Natasha was still in their truck while Thalia was making the last minute preparations.
The construct they were standing on was not just purely for show, mounted upon them were three-barrel torrents, similar to the torrents the military vehicles mounted atop their roofs.
The top of the construct was also brimming with ammunition, all around them, bullets were scattered around, leaving little leg space for them to move.
And of course, there were tons of guns as well, in fact, Ark had requested a gun for himself which was currently hanging from its strap on his neck.
Five minutes was all it took for him to learn how to operate a machine like this, and so he patiently waited for the chance he would get to use it.
Below them, multiple military personnel had specialised riot shields out in front of them and assault rifles specially made to combat apocalypse beasts.
The trucks were also pointing in the same direction, at the deserted road in the center of the city, an area that had already been outlined long before today as the gate opening point.
Even though the weapons looked rather flashy and sophisticated, even after making use of parts of the beast themselves in their construction, the weapons still paled in comparison to what a curse bearer could do and would even be harmless against highly ranked creatures.
Normally, they would have been playing a more subdued role during the first wave, but considering the situation, the military would have to pull their own weight if they wanted to survive.
Ark summoned the console silently.

He sucked in a nervous breath. He had been calm throughout but now that he was about to face death once more, he could shell but feel his heart race.
"I see the battle is about to begin, this reminds me of old times..." A voice came in his head.
"Silver? Where have you been?"
"You know, here and there. I have a life too, you know? Speaking of which, I need to go, I just came to wish you good luck."
Ark smiled.
"Is someone worried about me?"
There was a slight pause.
"As if! I just don’t want my only student dead before he can even learn anything. Anyways, dragon strike’s first form should not cause as much damage as usual now that you have mastered it, but still... don’t overdo it!"
"Sure sure, now get going. I need to concentrate on the battle."
"Alright... don’t die."
That was the last thing she said.
Beside Ark, Kiera’s body was suddenly engulfed in purple sparks that encircled her before sizzling away.
Her normal clothes were gone and instead, replaced by a black leather armour that clung on to her figure. The leather was patterned, had blue highlights at its edges and had an obsidian black hardened chest plate.
Purple sparks appeared in her hands next and the familiar black sword she had won in the tournament appeared, stealing the light the moment it took form.
All around them, all the curse bearers present were also summoning their arsenal.
Elise summoned a rather light looking fabric in place of armour, and a pair of twin cross tipped daggers even though she was a mage.
Emma’s armor, just like she had requested, was stylish and pretty. Like Kiera’s armour, it had a chest plate, albeit a silver one, paired with a short dark green cape that matched her eyes.
Her longbow suddenly materialized out of thin air as well, the tall thing almost as tall as the girl herself.
’I wonder how my bow will be when I unlock the archer class...’
Luke, who was standing the farthest from Ark, summoned a long blue robe that shielded his body from plain sight. It seemed among them, he was the only one acting like an actual mage.
Blue sparks surrounded his hand as an archaic book appeared in it, the pages slowly flipping about.
Vivian’s armour was a long brown robe with a hood that covered most of her face, revealing only her hair that fell forward, past her shoulders.
And in her hands appeared a long staff similar to those wizards used in fictional movies.
Finally, Ark’s dark leather armour appeared, its golden highlights caught the light in a way that made the people stare.
Instead of his usual axe, Ark decided to summon something else first.
Golden sparks appeared in his hands before taking the form of a dagger and its hilt.
Ark twisted the dagger to the side to observe it, it was only when it had appeared in his hands that he realised that he had never even seen the blade before.
The dagger was red, its side was sharp and serrated, making the weapon very viable for hacking.
He sheathed the dagger in the hilt by his side before calling upon untainted valor, the weight of the axe feeling comfortable in his hands.
They were now in the finals moments before the descent.

The world went Dark.
It was as though the very sun had been shut off, plunging the world into darkness. The ground trembled slightly as though an earthquake was going through it and the air became heavy, reeking of ash.
Instead of the regular warm light of the sun, they were all bathed in a red glow, courtesy of a crimson moon that now hung where the sun was meant to be.
There was a sound of splitting earth, as the ground ahead of them changed, a pure black line appearing on the road.
They all watched the line in nervous anticipation, and then suddenly, it split open.

Sorry if the descriptions were a little over the top. I want you guys to have a mental picture of what they would be wearing though out most of this arc.
