Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Stalling

Maggie Monroe tilted up her face and pouted. "Hm? Is there a problem? Or do you not believe what I’m saying?"

He shook his head and placed the meal on the bed tray.

’He definitely didn’t believe Maggie Monroe, but as long as she was happy, he’d let her say whatever she wanted. It didn’t matter to him.’

Seeing that Tristan didn’t seem to doubt her, Maggie Monroe grew even more pleased with herself. "Tristan, the doctor said I can be discharged. When are we going home?" 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Tristan Grayson’s brow furrowed slightly. He thought for a moment before saying in a cold voice, "In the next day or two."

"Okay, Tristan. For you, I’ll definitely work hard to get better." ’She believed that as long as she didn’t give up, a miracle would happen. Just look at what happened this time—she’d pulled through against the odds, hadn’t she?’

"Alright, eat up." For some reason, a sudden tightness gripped Tristan Grayson’s chest. He didn’t want to continue the conversation, so he pushed the meal closer to Maggie Monroe.

"Okay." Maggie Monroe gave him a sweet smile, then lowered her head and started eating without another word.

Watching Maggie Monroe eat happily, Tristan Grayson’s eyes filled with a mixture of complicated emotions and confusion...

「Tridell.」

Leo Joyce sped along in his sports car, a phone pressed to his ear. He knew almost every punk in this part of the city. ’To dare snatch my woman right from my own territory... they’ve got a death wish.’

In the passenger seat, Tiana’s face was deathly pale as she gripped the seatbelt. She had never experienced driving at such breakneck speeds before.

"Young Master Joyce, we have a lead! Jonah Ross is the one who took Miss Avery. According to the surveillance footage, they disappeared after heading toward the south side of the city. That leaves only one possibility—they must have gone to the Underground."

"The Underground?"

"Yes, that’s right. The Underground is a regular hangout spot for Jonah Ross and his crew of thugs."

"Good, I got it. Grab a few guys and meet me at the Underground, now!"

"Yes, Young Master Joyce!"

Leo Joyce tossed his phone aside and glanced at Tiana Grayson. "Hold on tight!"

"Okay..." Tiana Grayson nodded, trying her best not to let him see how terrified she was.

A wicked grin spread across Leo Joyce’s face as his hands flew across the steering wheel, sending the car racing toward the south side of the city.

Tiana Grayson squeezed her eyes shut, her heart pounding so hard she thought it would leap out of her chest. The thrilling experience was both terrifying and exhilarating.

The Underground, located on the south side of the city, was similar to Siren’s Night in some respects. But while Siren’s Night catered to the city’s wealthy elite, the Underground attracted a crowd of local gangsters, thugs, and riffraff.

The reason Gia Miller hadn’t asked her brother to handle this was because her family’s reaction after she’d been wronged had chilled her to the bone.

This was especially true of her brother, who felt it was no big deal. In his eyes, his sister wasn’t some innocent, virtuous girl anyway.

That was why she had turned to Jonah Ross...

Jonah Ross had been after her back in school, trying several times to get her into bed...

This time, she was willing to pay any price to get her revenge.

Jonah Ross’s car pulled up to the entrance of the Underground. Amelia Avery was the first one out, throwing open her door and jumping to the pavement.

After she got out, she looked up at the glowing sign above the entrance. A mocking smile played on her lips. "You brought me all this way just to gamble with me?"

"Sweetheart, you’re being a little naive," Jonah Ross said with a smirk, rubbing his chin.

"So, what is it you want?" ’She was sure Leo Joyce was already on his way. All she had to do was stall for time.’
