Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me-Chapter 90: Confiscation
γEldoria. Valor Hospital.γ ππ³π¦ππ€ππ£π―β΄π·π¦π.πππ
Aiden Averyβs expression was utterly grim as he watched the woman in the hospital bed. Ever since sheβd woken up, she had been trying to call Tristan Grayson.
βWhy canβt this woman take a good, hard look in the mirror and see herself for what she is?β
βA woman who wonβt even live for three years, yet sheβs still deluding herself into thinking she can keep clinging to Tristan.β
βIf she truly loved Tristan, sheβd let him go. Sheβd stop him from wasting any more time on her. But clearly, thatβs not what this woman is thinking at all.β
He couldnβt just stand by and watch this woman ruin Tristan. At that thought, Aiden Avery reached out and snatched the phone from Maggie Monroeβs hand. His voice was cold and impatient as he snapped, "Maggie, you promised you wouldnβt interfere with Tristanβs life or his work. But what youβre doing right now is seriously affecting him."
Tears of grievance welled in Maggieβs eyes as she listened to Aiden. "I just want to talk to Tristan..." βHe was always with me for my surgeries before. No matter how busy he was, he would be by my side. But this time, the surgery is over, and he still hasnβt called. Even when I tried calling him just now, he didnβt answer.β
βShe had fought her way back from deathβs door for Tristan, but now he wasnβt even answering her calls. How could she not panic...β
βShe knew perfectly well there was another woman by Tristanβs side now. No, she had to go back. She couldnβt watch him fall into that womanβs trap step by step.β
βSince he was already divorced, she wouldnβt give them a chance to get back together.β
"Tristan will call you when he has a moment." Seeing Maggie cry, Aidenβs voice lost its earlier harshness; he wasnβt a cruel man, after all. "For now, donβt think about anything. Just focus on your recovery. Iβm confiscating your phone for the time being."
"Finn, please donβt take my phone..." βIf he took her phone, how would she ever be able to reach Tristan?β
βWhat was wrong with Aiden? He used to dote on her.β
"No. Forget about the phone for now. Once youβve recovered, Iβll give it back to you."
Still unwilling to give up, Maggie asked, "But what if Tristan tries to call me?" βHe hadnβt answered just now,β she thought, βbut he would surely call her back soon.β
"Tristan is so busy with work right now, how would he have time to call you? Stop overthinking it and get some rest. The doctor said this two-week recovery period after the surgery is crucial."
"Two weeks? That long?" Her life was a race against time. Two weeks felt like half a lifetime.
βBut what could she do, even if she was unwilling? In her current state, she couldnβt even get out of bed, let alone fight another woman for Tristan.β
Aiden ignored her. βComplaining that two weeks is too long? Sheβd be lucky if she could get out of bed and recover properly in two weeks. Besides, even with this surgery, if she manages to live another six months, thatβs practically stolen time. How dare she be so demanding...β
He left the hospital room and immediately started making calls to find a few reliable caregivers to look after Maggie.
As for him, he had to return home in a few days.
If he didnβt go back soon, his own sister might very well be abducted.
γTridell. The police station.γ
Cassian Jennings slouched lazily in a chair, a cigarette between his fingers, looking every bit the part of a shot caller.
