Doctor: Picking Up Attributes in the Hospital-Chapter 397 - 350: Everyone Is Very Satisfied (Part 3)
Even some geniuses in certain fields find their work cannot be monetized, relying instead on other industries or even state support.
The most prominent among these is mathematics.
After dinner, Xu Man Ni and Zhao Heng drove Fang Sijin back home, while Zhao Heng returned to his apartment.
It’s 8:30 in the evening.
As soon as Zhao Heng walked in, he was met by his anxious mother sitting on the sofa, who stood up eagerly and asked, "Son, how did the house viewing go?"
"It went well, we’ve already settled on one."
Zhao Heng replied.
"Already settled? Which neighborhood? How big is the house, and what’s the price per square meter?"
Hearing Zhao Heng’s words, not just his mother, but even his father couldn’t sit still; he stood up and asked, losing all interest in watching TV.
Faced with his father’s three-part question, Zhao Heng calmly changed his shoes and sat on the sofa before slowly saying, "We checked out a house at North City No.1 Courtyard. The original price was 160,000 per square meter but the owner was eager to sell and dropped it by 5,000. It’s over 200 square meters, and it’s a one-lift, one-house style, plus it comes with a parking spot."
"160,000 per square meter, dropped by 5,000, so it’s 155,000 per square meter, which makes it nearly 30 million for 200 square meters!"
Zhao’s father started calculating, getting more and more astonished as he did.
"Wow, 30 million! How did the houses in North City get this expensive?"
Zhao’s mother also exclaimed in shock.
"Son, do we have enough money to buy this house?"
After a pause, she worriedly asked again.
"It’s okay, once the software hits the market, we’ll be able to manage the monthly payments."
Zhao Heng replied. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"So the nearly 10 million down payment was contributed by Man Ni?"
Zhao’s mother continued to ask. It was understood that the down payment is 30% of the total price.
"We bought it together; she paid the down payment, and I will take care of the mortgage."
Zhao Heng explained.
"Man Ni’s family is really wealthy."
Zhao’s mother remarked with some amazement. As marriage was on the table, buying a house together made sense, but the wealth of the daughter-in-law’s family was still a surprising point.
"You don’t understand, these are the demolition households of North City, people who started businesses twenty years ago, and back then they earned enough to buy whatever homes they wanted, or they got several from demolition deals, and now they are worth tens of millions, even hundreds of millions."
Zhao’s father said unsurprised.
"Dad, Mom, Man Ni and I have it all planned out. Her house and the one we’re buying now are just two streets apart, so you can choose where to live in the future."
Zhao Heng said.
He was concerned that if his parents didn’t adapt well to living with Xu Man Ni, having an extra house would provide some buffer, and they could switch homes. This arrangement suited both his parents and Xu Man Ni, preventing many potential issues in the future.
"That’s great."
Zhao’s father immediately nodded, very much in agreement with Zhao Heng’s plan.
It’s a new era, and Zhao’s father didn’t have the notion that the whole family had to live together.
He understood that young people have their own lifestyles, and it may not be compatible with the elderly, so having their own living spaces is a good thing.
Moreover, when a child comes along, they can easily cross two streets to help out; it’s pretty convenient.
"That’s good indeed, when you have kids, I’ll come over and help take care of them."
Zhao’s mother also nodded, not being someone who insisted on living with her son and daughter-in-law. With the two homes so close, she could help with the grandchildren and still come back to accompany her husband, achieving the best of both worlds.
How wonderful!
