Chapter 39: Kaiden Volt

Damion held the glowing blue orb in his palm, and the notification he was expecting came up.

[Proceed to absorb the Orb?]

[Yes/No]

He unhesitatingly chose yes, and the orb broke down into motes of light which then flowed into his body through his orifices. His veins pulsed with energy, bulging through his skin and glowing with a faint blue light as he struggled to suppress a moan.

He didn’t fall to the ground this time, controlling his body and reining in his urges.

Soon, the absorption was over, and the rampant energy died down. Damion then brought up all the notifications he had subconsciously silenced after the fight to receive the rest of his rewards.

"I fought better than I did with the Green Rose Poison Heart because of the boost the Sword gave me," Damion said. "I need to get strong enough to deal with Lower Rank 1 Beasts easily,"

"If I come across a Beast 1 level higher, I can hold my ground, but 2 levels higher... then I can do nothing but run."

Damion sat there contemplating his next actions, and after a while of proper planning and preparation, he got up from the spot he sat, looking around cautiously before venturing deeper into the forest.

He returned the Tang Dao into his storage and walked silently through the dense forest of trees.

As Damion walked deeper into the forest though, he had the feeling of someone breathing down on his neck and watching his every move, so he raised his guard to the limit.

Damion didn’t slow down or show his nervousness. He didn’t even look around, but just kept walking ahead like nothing in this world could faze him.

The distant roars of the forest’s inhabitants echoed consistently. The rustling of leaves and snapping of twigs under his foot were a stark reminder of the dangers and unseen threats that lurked in the dark, waiting to strike.

Suddenly the forest flashed with a bright light, sparks of Lightning tearing a path towards him rapidly.

Damion’s quads tensed, and he blasted off the ground, shooting towards the side with shocking velocity.

The Tang Dao was summoned in the next second, and his eyes began to glow with a purple light, Dragon’s Authority spreading out and affecting the surrounding 25 meters.

As Damion prepared for a fight, revving up his battle spirit for an intense clash, he saw something that caught his attention, and he immediately stopped.

"Hi," the student before him said with a smile. "Did you by chance see any Orange haired student passing by?"

Damion raised a brow, staring at the student before him with a look of surprise. ’That’s... Kaiden Volt,’ he thought, staring at the Silver haired student before him with Blue eyes and black MCU.

"No," Damion responded. "But watch where you land next time, you almost hit me."

There was a look of surprise appearing on Kaiden’s face for a moment, before it changed into amusement, and he began to laugh loudly, pointing a finger at Damion and even nearly choking on his saliva.

"Aren’t you that abilityless garbage... uhm, what was your name again, Damor?"

A vein popped up on Damion’s forehead, and he held back the urge to immediately attack Kaiden. He knew he wasn’t strong enough to do so, but he couldn’t stand the blatant bullying either.

"It’s Damion," Damion uttered with a barely suppressed fury in his tone.

His voice came out deeper through the Jaws of Ophidia, and his purple eyes only glowed brighter, hinting at the increase in the pressure of Dragon’s Authority.

Kaiden felt the pressure, but that only piqued his interest for a second before he shrugged and waved his hand nonchalantly.

[Dragon’s Authority’s effects have been negated]

[Skill on cooldown- 2 Minutes Left]

Damion’s eyes widened in shock for a second, before he reacted immediately, dropping into his shadow and teleporting to another.

A thick wave of Lightning passed over the spot he stood on a second ago, and though he had moved in time, he still got hit by a few bolts.

Damion groaned in pain and fell to the ground, blood leaking from the corners of his mouth as his eyes turned bloodshot.

No amount of words could describe the anger, humiliation and pain he felt at that moment. He had been played like he was nothing, again, just because he wasn’t strong enough.

Even with the strength he had accumulated over the few days he had gotten the System, he still got defeated in a single blow by a mere movement technique.

Maybe it was because he hadn’t had time to grow yet, or his opponent’s power was overwhelming, either way, the fact that he had been defeated in such a humiliating way, his pride had been wounded, and his thirst for revenge was sparked.

Somehow, the lightning had penetrated through his clothings and inflicted devastating damage on his internal organs, and to an observer, he appeared to be mortally wounded.

However, he luckily possessed the System which immediately began to heal his body using his Mana Points, focusing on the most injured organs first.

The Lightning’s paralyzing force didn’t let him move his body, sending waves of excruciating pain through his body. Worse, his body was bent at an awkward angle, his muscles locked in a painful spasm.

"I will find you, Kaiden..." Damion said through gritted teeth. "And I will put you through ten times the amount of pain you put me through," Damion swore, fresh blood leaking from his orifices.

***

A few hours later Damion entered his room and crashed on his bed, exhaustion washing over him like a tidal wave.

The hunt for that day was cancelled for obvious reasons, and his mind wasn’t in the right state to stay awake for long. He fell asleep faster than he could register the two masked individuals sitting in his room, his eyes closing shut under the influence of fatigue and the inconspicuous sleeping gas released in his room.

"We have him," one of the two persons spoke into a communication device, standing up from his chair and walking close to Damion.

"Take him to the boss," he ordered, gesturing at his partner. "He will regret messing with the Feral Brotherhood..."
