Chapter 43: Agony

Blessing of Knowledge kicked in suddenly, and bulks of information began to flow into Damion’s head in waves, filling him with numbing pain and causing him to groan. π—³π—Ώπžπ•–π˜„π—²π•“π—»πš˜πšŸπ•–π₯.πšŒπ• π•ž

His willpower was tested in that moment as he struggled to hide his pain, maintaining eye contact with the Green scaled girl that had come from nowhere.

"Master!" The girl exclaimed lightly and walked over, passing the slightly pissed Kenzo and Damion, who was still enduring the pain.

"I’ve advanced to the third stage just like you told me to," she stopped before Hakuro and bowed.

There was a brief silence that followed before Hakuro’s arm shot out, striking the head of Aspasia.

"So much disrespect," Hakuro growled. "What have you learnt in your six months of secluded training? Impulsiveness?"

Aspasia took a step back, rubbing her sore head with a wince.

"You could have walked in, paid your respect and demonstrated the technique to my new students, for some reasons I don’t know. Instead, you chose to show off, acting like you are superior to them. Have you forgotten that you are still a first-year student just like them?..."

Hakuro went on to lecture Aspasia for five minutes straight, while Damion struggled with the pain.

’This is so annoying.’ Damion thought, raising a hand to his forehead and rubbing it. ’She... the Heir to the Serpent God, must be killed! Why?’

More information flowed into his mind, and his nose began to bleed.

’The Gods? The Serpent army? Followers of Ophidia? Build an army? Vorgath? Impending war?’

’Couldn’t you have just granted me all your strength if you really wanted me to end the war?’ Damion thought.

He tilted his head and grimaced. ’But that won’t actually make sense. I need to know my powers, flaws and strengths as I grow in order to defeat Ophidia, just like how his Heir is also being prepared.’

The information Damion had received was basically everything he needed to know about the Dragon God, his goals and why he was bestowed his powers and made his Heir.

The Dragon God, Vorgath, was the arch-nemesis of the Serpent God, Ophidia, and vice versa. He didn’t know what had caused their deadly enmity, but they were determined to stop at nothing to have each other killed in the worst way possible.

They fought for centuries, with none coming out on top. They had armies that clashed at all times, dwindling down before being rebuilt like the pawns they were.

Time and again, they fought, until they could no more, so they each chose champions to represent them. Still, the champions either died before they could reach their full potential, or perished when they eventually clashed, surprisingly.

More information entered his head, most of them being stuff he would need to know later. The ones he had just processed now were branded into his psyche, being the most important.

He returned his attention to Hakuro, and he found Aspasia staring daggers at him. Damion felt a sudden anger take control of him, and Dragon’s Authority flared, bearing down on Aspasia immediately.

[Dragon’s Authority’s effects have been negated]

[Skill on cooldown- 2 Minutes Left]

Damion coughed, and more blood poured out of his nose.

Aspasia grinned, showing her long and sharp incisors.

Damion’s face paled considerably as more blood poured out from his nose, but as suddenly as it came, the nosebleed stopped.

Aspasia frowned for a second after this happened, but her face smoothened out almost immediately.

’My poison didn’t work?’ She thought.

Kenzo, surprisingly, walked over to Damion and asked, concerned. "Are you okay?"

Damion, shocked by this, took a moment to stare deeply at Kenzo before nodding in affirmation.

"Very well then, I can’t have my rival dying on me," Kenzo replied, walking away.

"What the! Is that the only thing on your mind? Can’t you just show some genuine goodwill?!"

Kenzo snorted, mumbling some incomprehensible words to himself as he left.

Hakuro found a place to sit, watching his three students do their thing.

Damion and Kenzo resumed their practice in two different parts of the hall, while Aspasia sat in a corner, meditating.

Damion momentarily took his mind off the Quest and information he had received about the Dragon God and his enemy, focusing on his training.

By the end of the day, he managed to make the skill move one meter forward before collapsing.

Kenzo on the other hand didn’t improve in his range, but the quality of his Phantom Slash did, and compared to before, it was akin to night and day.

It seemed like his Ability greatly worked well with the attack, and he improved by leaps and bounds with each passing second.

The classes for the day ended, but Damion wasn’t as exhausted as the previous days.

Darkness descended on the academy, and Damion arose like a phantom, his silhouette being the only thing seen as he climbed up a building to its roof.

His mind was full of so many disturbing thoughts, and he needed something to distract him.

’I hope I’m not called in for questioning again,’ he whispered through the Jaws of Ophidia.

The black coat, with purple embroidery depicting a burning flame on his back, was donned, and he crouched, watching the wide expanse of the academy.

"The forest expedition would be put on hold, for now," he said. "Instead, I should think of completing that Quest I received some hours ago... and I have some targets in mind already."

[Shadow Walk has been activated]

A few moments later, Damion slowly rose from the shadows, his purple eyes glowing as he stepped forward with his Tang Dao in hand. He walked silently through the room he was in, and stopped by the bed.

Immediately, the student laying down on it shot up, and with his super speed, dashed to the other side of the room and turned on the lights. To his shock though, the lights had been destroyed by the intruder.

"I don’t know who you are, but if you think you’re leaving this place in one piece, then you’re wrong," Drax said, a maniacal grin on his face.

"I see your hand is healed already," Damion said, his voice deep and menacing, scaring Drax slightly.

Drax paused, putting up a strong front and cocking his head. "Damion?" He asked, then chuckled. "You’re playing vigilante now?"

Damion clenched his Tang Dao harder, but managed to keep his cool. He blinked, and his aura seemed to turn even more hostile than it already was.

"I’m not Damion, or whoever you think I am," Damion answered.

"Oh," Drax exclaimed mockingly. "Then who are you?" He asked.

Damion took a step forward, the floor creaking under his footsteps as he walked towards Drax and brandished his weapon. The air seemed to grow cold with tension, and the shadows turned deeper and darker, and for the first time since he had gotten the skill, the debuff of Dragon’s Authority activated, hitting Drax like a speeding truck.

"I’m," Damion paused, his voice dropping several octaves. "Agony..."
