Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 65: The Power of Affection
Damion’s gaze shifted to Matilda’s opponent, and he found the Rhino she was facing standing a few meters ahead of her, its gaze lingering on her form.
The red light its horns exuded had spread across its whole body, making it look like it had been encased in a radiant red armor.
It drew its feet across the ground and bellowed, and without wasting any more time, it charged ahead at full speed.
The trio gasped in surprise at the shocking velocity of the beast, but they were more shocked when Matilda turned into a blur, appearing before the beast in no time flat.
One second she was standing, unmoving, and the next she was before the Rhino, swinging her claws again.
The trio watched in awe as Matilda clashed with the Rhino.
The two forces unleashed destruction on the surroundings as the shockwave from their collision spread out.
A fierce wind kicked up, and dust blew everywhere.
Matilda became a black blur and slashed at the Rhino multiple times in just a few seconds. She changed direction so fast it was almost too hard to monitor her.
A cacophony of crashing trees and snapping vines filled the air, accompanied by the Rhino’s thunderous bellows and Matilda’s fierce roars.
Damion, Kenzo and Lyra were forced to retreat, dodging falling logs of wood, leaping over obstacles and running at their fastest speed.
"I’m going to die!!" Lyra screamed as she ran, her face flushed with fear.
The jungle floor in that area was quickly becoming a warzone, with Matilda and the Rhino leaving trails of destruction in their wake.
The heat coming from the Rhino seemed to have finally reached a tipping point, and the greenery caught fire.
As the fight raged on, the Poison from Matilda’s aura attacked the Rhino’s armor-like light coating, and another fierce battle erupted.
The Rhino’s red light armor glowed brighter, fighting off the deadly poison and pushing towards Matilda’s body. Matilda, however, seemed unfazed, her black scales glistening with a dark shine.
She bashed into the Rhino’s side, forcing it through a tree, resulting in its trunk splintering and shattering into a rain of wooden fragments.
Matilda’s claw flashed, and the armor parted beneath the sharpness of her claws.
She jumped high and descended rapidly, then with her claws outstretched, she swiped at the Rhino’s head, unleashing a green crescent slash of poison energy.
The Rhino let out a deep, rumbling sound and its horns glowed. It flung its head up, the tip of the glowing horn accurately hitting the crescent poison attack, shattering it.
The result was the area around the Rhino’s head, starting from the point of impact as its epicenter and spreading outwards, turning darker.
The Rhino glowed brighter, and it raised its head to the sky and roared.
A torrential wave of energy poured out of its horns, and the danger and heat it radiated went up a notch.
Kenzo, Damion and Lyra could no longer take it. They hesitated, on one hand wanting to retreat and report the situation to Captain Shodan, and on the other hand, wanting to stay and help Matilda.
"I’ll go and find Captain Shodan," Lyra decided, and the boys responded with a curt nod.
She shot off a second later, leaving a line of blue in her wake and a pair of boys standing behind.
"Is there no way to stop her?" Damion asked, his fists tightening.
"Knock her out," Kenzo only said.
Suddenly, the Rhino roared, a high pitched roar that could only mean one thing.
The boys paled as they watched the Rhino fall, its red armor vanishing and its body slowly turning black as the poison seeped into it.
They took a step back simultaneously, watching the Rhino’s life slowly slip away.
They were still far away from the fight, but they didn’t dare make a noise or move too suddenly.
Matilda surely would have sharp senses, and they would attract attention if they weren’t careful.
Regardless of this all, they couldn’t stay idle, so they slowly moved backwards, one step at a time.
Unfortunately, a twig snapping resounded in the clearing that had suddenly turned silent, and Kenzo cursed.
He had stepped on a twig.
Matilda’s head snapped in their direction, and fear paralysis hit them hard.
A black figure appeared before them in an instant, and Kenzo dropped to his knees, locked memories of a past he wished not to remember flooding into his mind.
Damion’s feet buckled beneath him, and he almost fell, but someone held him up just in time, and few words were spoken by that person.
"You shouldn’t show fear in the face of your Drakaina," the person said. "You are a King... a God!"
[Dragon’s Authority- Lvl 6]
Dragon’s Authority spread out, breaking its limit and crossing the 30 meter threshold and reaching 35 meters.
Damion’s feet stabilized, and the weight of his presence multiplied, his aura shifting and becoming more tangible.
The black Drake before him took a strong step forward, and then... it licked Damion’s face.
"Eww," Damion said without meaning to. However, the Drake had no intention of stopping and licked him harder, covering him with warm saliva.
Slowly, Matilda’s form began to shrink, and her scales receded, her hair shortened, and her feets morphed back into human legs.
Her claws retracted too, and she lunged at Damion, wrapping her legs around his waist and arms around his neck.
Her lips melted into his, a certain warmth from it making Damion’s mind go blank for a moment.
The two soft mounds pressing against his chest made his little guy wiggle to life, and he unconsciously grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to him and rubbing her back and long hair.
"Perfect," a voice said.
Damion and Matilda comically froze, their mind seemingly processing the location they were.
’Someone’s watching!!’ Matilda thought, panicking slightly.
’That’s not Kenzo’s voice,’ Damion, on the other hand, thought.
He looked to the side, ready to see the human that was watching them. But contrary to his expectations, he found a metal-like spherical shaped creature with violet eyes staring at him.
"Greetings, my Liege," the creature said. "I’m honored to be in your presence again..."
