Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 81: Clash of the Dragon Kins
Damion gulped audibly, his fear for Demons increasing substantially. The Wyvern was already plenty strong, and it had only been corrupted and made stronger.
He looked at Kenzo too, who was staring at the Wyvern, growling and snapping at it. The two beasts faced each other, their fury and hunger evident in their eyes.
The Blessing of Knowledge helped Damion in the situation and made him understand what was about to go down. The two creatures, both descendants of Dragons, had something in common, and the only way forward was for one of them to devour the other and gain that thing... whatever it was.
The quest completion requirements were for Damion to make one party devour the other, then Tame the winning side. So what he needed to do was very much clear. He had to help Kenzo win.
"Looks like you’ll have to help from the sides though," Nyx interrupted Damion’s thoughts. "Kenzo isn’t in a normal state right now, just like what happened to your Drakaina,"
"If you were to approach him at this moment, he wouldn’t necessarily attack you because there’s a bigger fish to catch, but he might get irritated and... swat you away, potentially killing you."
"That might be a problem," Damion whispered, his gaze lingering on the two beasts ahead. "Regardless, I can still do something."
The Wyvern looked around for some seconds, searching for the tiny humans it was chasing some moments ago, but it realized too late that they had long escaped.
It roared, unleashing its fury to the skies. A blackish energy poured out of his mouth following the roar, and the heat coming from it scorched the fauna close by.
Damion knew that the jungle was weird, but seeing as the heat from a Dragon Kin failed to set it on fire amazed him.
The Wyvern lowered its head and locked gazes with Kenzo. It appeared to notice him only now.
There was a brief moment of peace, before the two figures blurred.
The Wyvern, reaching five meters in height, spread its wide wings to the side and beat them powerfully. This simple, yet effective move, pushed it forward at the speed of a jet, almost breaking the sound barrier.
Its 15 meters long wings spread out to the sides, their edges glinting dangerously under the moonlight, hinting at their deadly sharpness as it shot forward.
Kenzo didn’t linger for a second more and charged ahead, tearing the ground in his wake as he turned into a black blur Damion couldn’t track.
The red and black blur met with a powerful bang, and Damion, who stood in a tree faraway, felt the collision like he was right in their midst. The next instant, the Wyvern was pushed back, its head whipping back with so much force it could have snapped.
Damion’s eyes widened in shock. Matilda didn’t have such monstrous physical strength in her fully transformed state, so where was this ferocious power coming from?
He had only just processed these thoughts when the Wyvern bit down hard and tore into Kenzo’s side.
Kenzo growled deeply, his voice reverberating in the wide area. He pushed forward and swiped down, tearing a gash in the Wyvern’s neck.
The Wyvern was forced to let go and jump back, flapping its leathery wings and ascending to the sky. It opened its mouth, and a black, hot, volatile energy began to condense within.
It released the ball of heated energy with a burst and charged another right after. The first exploded on contact, raising dust and smoke, and just as the second was about to be released, Kenzo burst through the smoke, his mouth opened wide as a stream of potent, red flames were channeled through his lungs.
He landed heavily on the Wyvern’s back and clawed at it, ripping some scales off. Then he immediately blasted a stream of red, scorching flames aimed at the Wyvern’s head, melting a few scales and the skin underneath.
The Wyvern flapped its wings wildly and flew around, twisting and turning in the air, trying to knock Kenzo off.
It flung a ball of heated energy at the Drake, but it was persistent and refused to let go, instead digging its fangs and claws deeper into the Wyvern’s body and blowing out concentrated streams of red flames like they were its last.
The Wyvern took the fight deeper into the jungle and smashed its body against several trees and rocks. It repeated the torturous action lots of times, getting deeper and deeper into the forest until it had leveled a wide expanse of land, and Kenzo eventually fell off.
The two Dragon Kins crash landed on the ground, tearing the lands and faunas as they rolled to a stop, their bodies wounded seriously.
The Wyvern’s scales were melted in several places, mostly around its head. Two of its horns had snapped off at some point, and the third was barely connected to the head.
It stood on its hind limbs and tried to escape, but only figured out now that one wing was torn.
Kenzo seemed to smirk after seeing that. He too was damaged, maybe even more than the Wyvern, he didn’t know, but he had surely dealt a mortal wound to the creature.
Not many would survive having their head burnt and torn to that extent, and the Wyvern definitely coul...
Kenzo couldn’t finish his string of thoughts, because one moment he was gearing up for another charge, and the next second a spear tore through the injured part of the Wyvern’s head, making it roar out in pain.
His head snapped in the direction the spear had come from, and he glimpsed a small figure in the distance, staring at the dying Wyvern.
The Drake’s gaze jumped from the Wyvern to the figure, before settling on the Wyvern. He was going to deal with the mysterious figure later, but first, he had to defeat this Wyvern and devour it.
A long distance away, Damion stood on a huge rock, his breathing a bit ragged.
"I only threw Nyx, so why am I so tired all of a sudden?" He mused to himself.
’That’s because I took some of your Mana, sorry,’ Nyx said telepathically in a not-so-sorry tone.
"As long as I get the kill," Damion replied, flexing his arm as he watched Kenzo tear into the Wyvern brutally.
