Draconic King of Shadows-Chapter 93: Sparking Madness
Shadow Walk showed its usefulness again, and Damion appeared not too far from Kaiden, his slit eyes lingering on him.
The pulsing ripple in the air was a testament to the raw power Kaiden was radiating at the moment. His lightning was relatively close to his body, but the distortion and twisting of the air in the surrounding thirty meters proved otherwise.
His range was obviously more than that, but that seemed to be the current range of his electromagnetism... or so he made them believe.
Kenzo was safe, and so was his sister, as he had caught her in time before she sustained any more injuries.
The force of the repelling electromagnetism had done more than pushing Matilda back. She was weak already, and the force only aggravated her injuries.
Luckily, she was already healing.
Damion looked over to Kenzo, watching as he gingerly placed her down. He shifted his gaze to Kaiden again, and a dark glint flashed in his eyes.
They couldn’t get close to Kaiden at the moment, without knowing how to counter his field of electromagnetism first, so Damion did the only thing any normal person would.
He raised an arm, and dark-green motes of light began to gather in the center of his palm.
Shadows rose from the ground and circled the gathering lights. Nyx turned into a canister, wrapping around Damion’s arm from his elbow, and elongating outwards.
The gathering lights and shadows lit up with a fierce purple flame, raising the destructiveness of the projectile.
The shadows formed the bullet, encasing the poison within to be released when destroyed, then the flames burned around the Shadow Bullet, flickering and licking at the air hungrily.
Damion aimed, and Kaiden waited patiently, unfazed by the rippling power converging in the canister.
The heatwaves from the projectile spilled outwards, radiating with imminent danger, and the blackish aura of deadly poison and shadows accentuated it all.
A split second later, a bang reverberated in the forest, and Kaiden’s eyes widened.
He looked down at his shoulders, where his arm was meant to be, but there was nothing.
Another bang, and his second arm was obliterated.
Black, purple and dark-green lines began to snake across his chest immediately the poison made the slightest contact with him, and his health dropped to an alarming degree.
There was no pause from Damion as he conjured another bullet as fast as he could, and fired without hesitation.
Kaiden seemed to finally realize that his electromagnetic field wasn’t strong enough to block the bullets, and retreated, dodging out of the way of a curving bullet.
He landed on the branch of a tree ten meters back, only for him to plummet to the ground as Kenzo sliced the branch cleanly.
His long sword twisted in the air and descended like a judgement blade towards the falling Kaiden. However, the electromagnetic field pushed against the blade, slowing it down just enough for him to dodge.
Kenzo growled angrily and pressed on. The two longswords began to attack swiftly and precisely at odd angles, putting Kaiden on the backfoot.
Another bang sent Kaiden spiralling in the air, one of his legs flying past his head in another direction.
He gritted his teeth, pain and frustration written all over his face.
Before he could even begin to plot an escape, his second leg was put out of commission.
With his torso covered in poison marks, and his limbs destroyed, the fight looked to be over... only for Kaiden to pull a short, robust bottle mysteriously out of nowhere, and use his electromagnetism to finely control its content to pour into his mouth.
Unfortunately for him, Kenzo’s long sword intercepted, slapping the contents and evaporating it right before it spilled into his open mouth.
Kaiden’s eyes widened as just one drop fell into his mouth. The healing serum that his father had given him —only to be used in a life and death situation— was gone... just like that.
"NOO!!!" Kaiden roared, his eyes suddenly turning bloodshot, and the lightning around his body expanding rapidly.
Damion shielded his eyes from the sudden, bright light, and he used Shadow Walk to take himself a few meters back.
The atmosphere became heavy, and an unknown feeling of lurking danger fell over them.
Damion narrowed his eyes, his focus unwavering. He didn’t know what Kaiden had done, but he was sure it wasn’t anything good.
Time proved him right, because as soon as a storm began to kick up, he understood that Kaiden had switched gears.
The wind blew fiercely, raising dust, throwing leaves around and forcing the fauna to sway rhythmically.
His eyes moved up, and Damion spotted Kaiden standing in the skies, red lightning sparking around him and striking any foreign object that came too close.
His hair blew with the wind, red lightning running over it, and his pupils glowed with untapped power.
His limbs weren’t healed, but they had been replaced with the same red lightning. They looked sturdier, without defects or shortcomings, and the raw power in them was visible.
Kaiden stood in the skies, basking in the wonder of his family’s secret technique... Sparking Madness.
Activating it without orders from the family head was a taboo, but who cared about orders when their life was in danger?
Sparking Madness doubled the lightning user’s comprehension of Lightning, granting them an in depth knowledge of what lightning could do.
It also did something else, that is, giving them access to the legendary Blood Lightning —a type of Lightning able to deal internal damage better than any Lightning could.
Kaiden hadn’t used this type of lightning before, so he was clueless, but that wasn’t a problem as the comprehensive ability of Sparking Madness bloomed, and his eyes sparked with understanding.
His eyes snapped towards Damion and Kenzo below, and a sly smile spread across his cheeks.
"Fall!" He said casually.
The sky rumbled in response to his words, dark cumulus clouds gathering, before a bolt of lightning dropped instantaneously.
