This city used to be one of the major cities before the great division of the Radiant Empire. When the citizens of the Radiant Empire heard that their Emperor had basically screwed up by planting thousands upon thousands of spies all over the territory of the Dragon Monarch, there wasn’t a single man in his empire who did not curse him.

Whether it was nobles, elites, or commoners, all cursed the King behind his back.

His actions were completely stupid and beyond the comprehension of the common as well as nobles of the empire. Why would their emperor mess with the Graveyard of Empires of all Empires around the six continents? There are hundreds of fish in the pond, yet their King dared to go after one target in the pond that he should not have gone after.

They had seen and heard time and time again the consequences of messing with the Dragon Monarch. Around a year back, the entire allied force, which had the strongest Empire in the Dying Isle Continent, still could not do anything to the dragon monarch or his territory.

Most predicted or thought that the conflict between the two parties would last for months, if not years. Both parties had enormous troops and resources to support a large-scale and long-term war.

But what happened?

The Dragon Monarch ended the war in his own style. He took things into his own hands and completely destroyed the enemy. He led attacks at the frontlines and destroyed their strongest cultivators.

He had been so overwhelming to the enemy side that the enemy Empire, or more specifically, the Oracle Alliance, had no choice but to hire assassins just to end his life.

But that was a year ago, and as a newly formed Empire, the army of the Dragon Monarch wasn’t that strong. But now things have greatly changed. Even without their Dragon Monarch, the Istarin Empire could crush their little empire within days.

Within days, the citizen started seeing great changes in their city, which affected their daily life, but not in a negative way, rather in a positive way.

Minimum wage was set for everyone, which meant that the rich and the nobles could not just exploit people from certain races and statuses to do certain jobs at a very low rate.

Taxes were lowered, which made everyone happy except for the nobles. Who wouldn’t want lower taxes, and that also comes with free school for their children and discounted healthcare for the entire family?

The moment they became a part of the Istarin Empire, the doors to thousands of opportunities opened up to them. Being a part of the empire, everything was cheaper and more affordable.

Another change that they noticed was that the moment the city became a part of the empire, all troops were sent to undergo a month and a half training so that these troops could fit the standard of the Istarin Troops.

For example, compared to the troops of other empires, the troops of the dragon monarch were more disciplined and motivated. There was no corruption, and if any kind of corruption was found in any of the troops, those troops would be immediately punished either by death or crippling cultivation.

Troops from the Capital came to the city and temporarily took the places and duties of those who were sent to training camp. Immediately, the city became much safer. Within a few days, there was a large crackdown on the local thugs and gangs of the city. Not only that, but theft and robbery also decreased by 90% within the first two weeks.

In a short period of over two months, the quality of life for every citizen took a huge leap forward. These days, one could hardly find any homeless people or beggars on the streets of the city.

Before there were even fights between groups of beggars over the right to control certain streets, more like the right to be back on those streets exclusively to them.

Life has become very peaceful and stable.

But that peaceful life did not last long. It was as if their peaceful life made evil beings jealous, and they sent a big Black Dragon to take their peace.

The Dragon spat out a large wave of golden flames.

The guards covered immediately made mana barriers to protect themselves, but the attack hit something invisible.

"Open the doors slightly so that everyone can safely get inside. At the same time, engage and keep the black dragon busy." His mana-infused voice spread to the ears of all soldiers. But these arrows did no damage. At most, the Dragon felt someone was tickling him.

Then the next wave of attack followed. Hundreds of different kinds of spells hit the Black Dragon at once. This resulted in an explosion. The soldiers relaxed, thinking that this had somewhat worked.
