"Solar Cannons, prepare to fire on my command." A golden energy orb formed at the mouth of the black cannons. With each passing second, the golden orb’s energy concentration kept getting higher and higher.

"At this rate, the black dragon won’t be able to do any damage." The organisation already knew that the Dragon Monarch, in the last two months, was going from city to city and upgrading the defensive barriers of every major city in his Empire. But they had no idea just how powerful these barriers were.

But what he saw till now just confirms their guess that each upgraded Defensive Mana Barrier is now strong enough to withstand attacks of any Peak 5th calibre cultivator.

"But good thing Leo had already predicted that something like this might happen." Before coming, Leo asked him to let the black dragon learn a technique that takes hardly two hours to learn. It’s a special technique that will allow him to bypass the restrictions that are placed on all living beings within the six continents.

"But once activated, this technique will last only up to two minutes, and this technique can be used only once by a person."

He worriedly looked at the cracks that had appeared all over the transparent barrier above them. But the good thing was that after a few seconds, those cracks rapidly began to heal and disappear.

Seeing this, the Captain and others sighed in relief. They couldn’t help but think the formation that his majesty had created for them was truly amazing.

Five-star Defensive Mana Barriers were different from other lower-star Defensive Mana Barriers. Aditya added the self-repair function for emergencies. The colour of the Black Dragon’s pupil changed to pitch black. The Black Dragon, which was already over 100 meters (328 feet) in length, now looked even more terrifying than before.

It was pure black, from head to tail.

Its claws were enormous, easily large enough to crush a group of soldiers in one strike. Its teeth were even more horrifying. Each tooth was nearly 1.5 meters (5 feet) long, almost the size of a grown man. When it slightly opened its mouth, rows of those massive fangs became visible, giving a clear image of how easily it could tear anything apart.

At the same time, the Black Dragon’s Aura rapidly began to change. Its Aura turned dark and violently cold.

Suddenly, a violent and destructive Aura burst out from the Black Dragon. The Aura was so strong, so dark, and so cold that it immediately paralysed the lower-order soldiers with fear. Some could not even move their bodies. Others fell to their knees, unable to breathe properly under the pressure.

The barrier that was supposed to protect the city from both physical and Aura-based attacks began to fail. Just from the dragon’s Aura alone, cracks started appearing all over the transparent defensive mana barrier. Those cracks spread rapidly, like glass about to shatter.

"What’s Happening?" One of the soldiers asked with a look of fear and disbelief.

The soldiers looked at the Lower Order soldiers. They did not know whether they should abandon the Captain’s order and help these soldiers. Some of them were suffocating and struggling to breathe before their eyes. It was hard for them to watch as these soldiers were their little brothers and precious comrades.

"I don’t know." Another replied in a low tone. Even the Captain was unsure what kind of change the Dragon was going through, but its effect quickly became clear to him and a few others who were also 5th-order cultivators.

"Its aura is rapidly getting stronger and more destructive in nature. It’s almost like it’s breaking through the restrictions that every higher order cultivator faces within the six continents."

"Did you send words for reinforcement?" The moment the Black Dragon appeared, the vice-captain was tasked to ask for reinforcement from the Capital.

The Captain sounded desperate as he knew that there was no holding their own against the Black Dragon. With its full power unleashed, which itself was something that should have been impossible, there was no stopping the Black Dragon’s attacks.

It was very possible and highly likely that by the time reinforcement arrived, they might be wiped out along with the entire City. Even with its power restricted to just Peak 5th-order, the Black Dragon had caused the Defensive Mana Barrier to crack, and now just its Aura alone was enough to cause even larger Cracks to appear all over the barrier.

"I did!!" The Vice Captain replied in a low tone. Because he was also unsure when reinforcement would arrive. It had been less than a minute since they started fighting the Black Dragon. It will take at least a few more minutes for reinforcements to arrive.

Just then, the Black Dragon took a deep breath.

It hovered a few hundred meters above the northern side of the city, right beyond the northern gates. From that height, its massive body cast a shadow over the walls below.

Then, it opened its mouth.

A colossal wave of golden flames burst out. The attack spread wide as it moved forward, expanding like a half-circle over the city. Since the city itself was round in shape, the wave covered nearly half of its radius in a single strike. From the northern gates to deep inside the city, everything in that direction was swallowed by the golden light. The northern walls, the gates, the streets, and everything in that half of the city looked like they would be completely destroyed under that overwhelming attack.
