DRAGONBORN SORCERER-Chapter 49: The Seven Sovereigns
In Niondra— the ’Floating Capital’ of El Niora.
Small cities situated on the outer perimeters. The small mansions of the ’High Profile Individual’, were evenly distributed through out those cities. It was alluring how magic could be used to form such geographical landscape.
Though what attracted the most was the center of the capital.
There was a vast garden, stretched endlessly. Most of the capital was covered by it. And at its center, there was a massive structure almost resembling the White House— in fact it was even bigger than that. And radiated stunningly in the mana that kept the land in its current condition.
The afternoon sunrays fall on the palace, making it gorgeous as a lone person was walking hurriedly. He was heading straight towards the main entrance of the palace.
It was Arnol Viser— the man who was famous as the Crazy Professor. The guards standing on the entrance didn’t prevent him from entering.
Crossing several corridors, he finally reached where he intended to. A hall room with giant and majestic gates to enter. However, this time he was stopped by the guards.
"Sorry, but you cannot enter at this moment." One of them said, "The Sovereigns are having a meeting. We are strictly prohibited to let anyone pass."
"I get it." Arnol replied, "But there’s an important matter the council needs to know. And I happen to have the information right now."
The guards hesitated. It wasn’t their first time seeing Arnol. They knew most of the intel here was delivered by him. Most of the time, they let him pass if they were ordered to.
Aside from that he had another obligation that let him attend the meetings of the Sovereigns.
However this time, it was different.
"Sorry, Professor." They said, their voice dipping in regret , "But we cannot allow you this time."
"What...." He looked childishly surprised, making a innocent baby face, "But the information is crucial. I need to deliver...."
"What seems to be the problem?" Arnol’s words were cut short by a third party’s arrival.
She looked gorgeous, and was no more than thirty. Her glamourous blue short hair shimmered, even if she was inside of the palace. Her beautiful blue eyes gestured elegance, and sparkled brilliance. Her demeanour was gentle and passionate as she arrived next to Arnol. Her voice was soft too.
"It’s you, Arnol." She rephrased, "Is there anything urgent that you were going to intervene with our meeting." She implied, "If so, I’d say you better be out this time."
"It’s important. At least to me." He replied, turning towards the beautiful lady, "I’m here to deliver the papers for a new student at the academy. And believe me or not, it’s worth knowing about him."
"Is there something special about the new student?" She said, dipping her voice in ignorance as she passed him by, "If not then go and attend to your magical experiments. We’ve got an urgent topic to discuss."
"The student is from Rosevill."
Seeing no other option he stated the facts. Liya halted at the doorways. For a moment, her face darkened.
She wiped the panic out of her face and turned back. She looked closely at Arnol, thought for a moment, then her gaze shifted at the guards.
"Guards, let him pass." She ordered.
"But lady Everheart." They told with a refusal tone, "Lord Grand has forbidden us to..."
"And I’m allowing you to." Her voice deepened, "Each of the Sovereigns holds the same level, we can override orders for you."
"Yee, My lady." They gave him the way to enter.
The inside was huge and entirely white, with an enormous round table at the center, surrounded seven majestic throne-like chairs. Only two of them were vacant.
The first one was occupied with an elderly looking man, yet his jade-black hair stated differently about his age. His black eyes were as keen as an eagle. Shrouding him the aura, was heavy.
He was Vex Blackwood, The Terra Sorcerer among the Seven Sovereign. He had complete mastery over earth elemental.
Following him next on the table was an young woman. Yet the aura around her seemed different— as though much experienced in life. She was hardly older than Liya Everheart and had long white hair as though they were made out of snow— soft and cold. Her blue eyes, by the way, resembled to Liya’s.
She was Zepha Nyx— the Frost Sorcerer among the sovereigns. Her impression was embodiment of ice itself.
The next seat was vacant which Liya took for herself. She was, after all, one of them— the Aqua Sorcerer. He demeanour was as gentle as water droplets.
Next to her, sat Lysan Kaine— The Lightning Sorcerer. Her blonde hair almost matched to thunder strike and her emerald eyes sparkled with lightning. She without paying much attention to Liya’s late arrival, held her calm yet mysteriously deep impression.
"You’re late!" shouted a person just in the opposite of Liya, "You were supposed to be here early."
His jade-green hair resembled to Arnol’s, though they were respectively much shorter. His blue eyes pierced through her. But she didn’t care, which enflamed his anger even farther. Flynn Nightshade barely tolerated that, his hands already enveloping in wind element— his specialty as the Wind Sorcerer.
"Now, now~, don’t be so short tempered, Flynn." Calming him down, replied a fellow member siting next to him, "If you attempt anything crazy, it’ll be a hassle to clean the messes."
His black hair waved in Flynn’s wind. His crimson eyes remained concerned about the outcome.
His name was Rylan Grand, the Flame Sorcerer who happens to be Misha’s father. He was much older. Perhaps oldest in the room.
"I was early, then I ran into him." As she replied everyone’s gaze intensified at Arnol, letting him feel the presence of all six sovereigns at once. Though, he didn’t flinch. Instead, he stood confidently.
"Arnol?" Rylan murmured, "Didn’t we prohibited you unwanted arrival at the meeting. Since Kaiden passed away, you’re no longer obliged to be here."
"I’m here not as the attendant of the Light Sorcerer, but as a responsible academic professor."
"Even so." Flynn’s anger shifted on Arnol, "You’re not permitted to attend the Sovereign’s meeting. This doesn’t concern you."
"Pardon! But it actually does." He replied, his lips forming a smile, "Haven’t you notice the sudden quake over the Floating Capital?"
Arnol’s statement created a deep impact among them. Their impression paled. Their eyes looked concern.
"How did you know that?" Vex remarked, "It’s the only reason why we’re having this urgent meeting."
"Is that so?" He continued smiling, "What if I say that I already know the reason what caused this unforeseen phenomena."
"What?" they were surprised.
"Arnol!" a sharp voice cut though him, Lysan Kaine’s gaze shifting at him, "Come to the point instead of rotating the flow of the situation." Her eyes still remain calm.
"As you wish." He sighed, "Apparently a individual has arrived in our academy. He happen to have Mana Alteration skills which disturbed the consistent flow of mana through entire Niondra. That’s all."
"Preposterous!" an unison voice rose. All of their face darkened as though concerned over the fact.
It was Flynn to speak first, "If that’s true, then we need to exile him from this country at once."
Other seemed to be agreed on his opinion. However, Arnol grinned as though it was obviously funny how took his words.
"Is something wrong, Arnol?" Rylan inquired, his calm attitude somewhat faltered.
"Pardon." He chuckled, "I can’t help myself but to laugh considering your judgement. I mean, it’s obvious for you to exile whatever you see as hindrance. But let me add some more info to this story."
His behaviour anger Flynn, yet he couldn’t do anything about it. Arnol may seem selfish, but it was him who delivered the crucial information in the time of need. That was why most of the time only her got free passed to enter in the Sovereign’s meeting.
"This man, Skyler already has become a student in our Academy." He replied, "Judging his abilities of Stage-5 Mage, he’s considered as one of the Honoured Ones. I’m just here to give you the reports."
Arnol left some paper on the table. It contained some basic info about Skyler, nothing much. Most of them remained calm, trying to see the depth of the situation. However Flynn was the only exceptional who yelled.
"You’ve gotta be kidding me." He clinched against his teeth, "How can you make such decision without our consent. Are you trying to be one of us or what?"
"Sovereign Flynn!" Arnol who was about to leave, turned towards him, "I didn’t make such decision to show myself as one of you. It was inevitable. And I did what I seemed fit as a professor at the academy."
"But still." Lysan interjected, raising her eyebrows, "You could’ve at least informed any of us before that."
Arnol took a deep breath as though understanding what she tried to imply. It was undeniable. He could’ve done so.
"Tell me." He continued, "If you knew that it was because of him that the capital felt a sudden quake, would you be willing to let him partake here?"
"Certainly not." She replied, "We wouldn’t allow such individual to be in El Niora in the first place. We have our own priorities."
"Exactly!" other agreed.
"I knew it." Arnol sighed, his impression turning annoyed, "That’s why I have this."
Arnol put another paper— the opened letter from Rose and the Rosevill royal emblem.
"If you want to exile him, do it." He waved his hands before leaving, "Unless you want to make the Queen of Rosevill anger, so as one of the Primordial Ruler Dragon. I don’t care."
The door shut with a slamming sound. The situation was much more dire than they had anticipated. Everyone’s face paled. Their face covered in sweats.
Even though they were much powerful than Rosevill, now that their new queen had the aid of one of the Primordial Ruler Dragon, he couldn’t possibly refused the facts. They lost in deep thinking whether to let Skyler have his lessons or not.
