Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 145: Wedding Preparations
Erica sighted Celine and quickly wound her arms around Tristan’s elbow. She felt him stiffen, but he did nothing to tear her away from him like he usually would, that caused her to smirk triumphantly.
Kaleb grumbled below his breath, wanting to stomp his feet in anger.
’President, you don’t even like that woman. Why are you letting her ruin your sweet little growing love story with miss Roberts?’ He could only complain internally.
Kaleb would admit, he had supported his boss marrying Erica on contract to get back his shares, but that was before he saw how miss Roberts made his boss feel.
He could bet his life, his girlfriend’s life and his own mother’s life that the president was a hundred percent in love with miss Roberts.
The condition had been to get married right? Why couldn’t the president dump that Erica and whatever deal he had with her then just run off with miss Roberts and live happily ever after? It was that simple!!!
Seeing him walk in with the woman clung to his arm, Celine lowered her head but controlled the disappointment from surging up to her face.
Tristan strode over to his seat behind his desk but of course Erica was just a step behind, propping her ass on the glass desk sitting right in front of him, a sharp possessiveness in her eyes as if making it clear to Celine that this was her territory.
"President, miss Roberts needs to discuss something with you. In private." Kaleb said, adding the last part while looking at Erica.
"He can’t talk about work right now Kaleb, you handle it, we have preparations to do." Erica said deliberately flashing the engagement ring on her finger before adding, "Wedding preparations."
Ah, she was such a witch! Kaleb had nearly forgotten about this fact.
"Leave." Tristan suddenly said indifferently, his eyes fixed on his computer.
Erica smirked, looking at Celine triumphantly.
Of course Tristan would ask her to leave so they could talk about their upcoming wedding. But her smirk slowly started to fall when she noticed Celine didn’t move, she turned to look at Tristan and realized his cold eyes were staring at her.
Was he...asking her to leave?
"But, Tristan we have to..."
"I have work to do, we’ll talk about that some other time." He spoke quickly and indifferently.
Erica had to hold back the displeasure in her heart, jumping off his desk to leave. Two days... just two more days and he would be hers forever.
She stopped short when she reached Celine, giving the latter a fake sugary smile before she strutted out of the office.
"I’ll just go finish up something I left off sometime back." Kaleb came up with a lame excuse before hurrying out of the office too.
Celine didn’t waste time in getting straight to the point. She didn’t want to spend much longer in here with him. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"We received a letter from the chief at the Rowena islands, he wants you to come there personally for negotiations or they might back out of the deal. I think there should be a..."
"How’s your foot?" He suddenly asked, cutting off the topic she had been talking about.
Celine was momentarily taken aback before she glanced down at her ankle which she had twisted the other night they were locked in.
"It’s... it’s much better now." She replied and he hummed quietly, then silence fell upon the space.
"I think if you went there personally, the deal will be sealed immediately and we could start construction." Celine broke the silence with her suggestion.
"Alright, I’ll schedule a trip with some company executives in a few days." He agreed to her suggestion without even questioning it.
Celine nodded, since her work was done she had no reason to keep staying.
"Great. I’ll take my leave now." Turning to leave she stopped for a moment, as if she had something to say but then decided against it, and left the office.
They didn’t need to interact more than work related issues, after all, there were things in life that were unattainable, even if one wanted it, they couldn’t have it, she knew how to accept such a fact.
Celine had gone home after that, but for the rest of the day she received incessant calls from an annoying someone she wanted to avoid.
At first she ignored his calls, not until it became too persistent she couldn’t avoid it anymore. Angrily she picked up the call finally.
"Celine!" Ryan’s pleasant voice filled her ear, enthusiastically calling her name as if he weren’t at all offended by how she had ignored his calls this whole time.
"Mr Blakewood, if someone avoids your calls there’s usually a reason for that." Celine uttered not hiding the displeasure in her voice.
"Oh, is that so? I’ve been looking all over for you." He said, deliberately ignoring what she said about avoiding his calls.
Celine rolled her eyes internally. Of course, as usual he would refuse to take hints.
"What can I do for you Mr Blakewood?" She asked with fake politeness.
"Pack your bags honey, we’re going on a trip." He announced with triumph in his tone.
"What?"
"The Rowena islands, you know our new project is riding on that right? So we’re all going, together. And you my dear, will be riding with me. We leave in a few days so get prepared."
After announcing something this shocking, he hung up the call.
What the hell?
The islands had invited the company higher-ups, why was he planning to drag her along with them?
Celine thought about Tristan, would he really want her to come along?
She recalled the moment Kaleb had unlocked the doors of the lounge room, Tristan had kindly approved her leave even if she hadn’t asked for it yet telling her to rest at home. At that time she was walking out of the lounge, she’d subconsciously stopped to glance back at him and to her surprise there had been a hint of sadness in his eyes...
Sad with a hint of longing, a longing for something you couldn’t have.
She had lingered by the door trying to study his expression, trying to study just what could make him look so downcast, but he’d smiled bitterly and told her to leave.
After that it had returned to the usual coldness, she knew even if she were in front of him he wouldn’t look at her, he would block her out as if she didn’t exist in his world. And soon, he would be married to someone else.
Celine sighed... perhaps it was for the best, even if it hurt as if hellfire was being poured into her heart.
