Dumped A Scumbag At The Altar For A One Night Stand With A Billionaire-Chapter 77: Your Name
’Why are you thinking about her again Tristan?’
It seemed everything in his world reminded him of her, just like being at Veridian had ignited her image in his head, this was probably another trick of his mind.
He was trying to find reminders of Celine in a random child that bumped into him.
Perhaps the child was lost and scared and she was calling him Daddy for comfort. He should probably take her to the police station so they could find her parents, but he might have to play along.
Kaleb seemed to be enjoying the sight of his boss in this situation, this was such a rare sight, how could he not enjoy it. Right now, the president seemed to be at a loss for what to say or do. Kaleb covered his mouth to stop himself from laughing before deciding to act as a catalyst, "President, the child looks so sad. You need to give her an answer."
The girl had tears in her eyes again as if she was on the verge of shedding tears once again.
She had asked if he liked her and it was certain that if he didn’t give her an answer quick enough she would start bawling again, Tristan couldn’t answer another episode of the child crying so he was forced to utter.
"Yes."
The girl’s eyes widened even more, but she didn’t look fully satisfied as she asked "Yes?" She seemed not to believe him as she asked again, "You like me?"
Tristan nodded, finding it a bit hard to utter such words but he said them nonetheless since the kid seemed so eager to hear them. "I do like you."
It felt as if flowers had suddenly bloomed turning the bleary gray world of winter into colorful spring when a smile quickly broke onto her lovely little face. A dimple appeared on her full cheek.
For some reason, Tristan couldn’t stop gazing into her blue eyes. He disliked kids but he didn’t feel a single dislike towards the girl. In fact there was something warm and strangely familiar that seemed to keep pulling him in. He felt a bit taken aback when he realized that he would probably do anything the girl wanted.
"Daddy, pick me up." The little girl happily opened her arms up to him, waiting to be carried.
Kaleb was immediately quite frightened for the girl.
"Okay, let’s not get ahead of ourselves now little princess." Kaleb said to the girl.
The president was being gentle, but there was a limit to the man’s patience, Kaleb doubted he would actually agree to carry the child or even...
His thoughts suddenly trailed off, to Kaleb’s great surprise and shock, Tristan picked up the little girl and held her carrying her with him as he walked away. Kaleb’s mouth refused to shut from his immense shock, he stood staring at the man’s broad back like an idiot.
The president actually... actually carried a kid in his arms? And he seemed to even know how to do it. It was such a surprising thing that Kaleb didn’t move for a long time until he realized he was going to be left behind. He immediately followed behind his boss but he was still unable to get over the shocking situation.
Tristan could feel the little girl’s gaze on his face, watching him intently but he said nothing.
"Daddy is so handsome!" She said excitedly reaching a tiny warm hand to touch his face.
Tristan didn’t mind the girl touching his face, he just silently kept walking as she nestled into his arms as he walked away from the building towards the road.
Leah knew it was time to drop the act now and part ways with the handsome man she had called daddy so she could follow him away from the crowd of people suddenly around the entrance of the building, otherwise she might be treated like a lost child by a random stranger. Most people would panic if they saw a little girl walking on her own and would immediately start asking about her parents so she used this handsome man who looked like her real daddy as cover.
But for some reason, she didn’t want to part with this handsome man at all. And the more she looked at his face, the more he looked really similar to the picture she saw on Leo’s ipad.
Leah knew Leo would be waiting for her, so immediately they got away from the crowd and the guards, she reluctantly patted the man’s shoulder and indicated he put her down.
Tristan put the kid down and she looked up at him smiling brightly. He couldn’t get the familiar feeling out of his head.
Who was this little girl and where did she come from?
"Daddy, I’ll go find Mommy now." The girl said with a cheery voice.
"Do you know where your mother is?" Tristan asked, for some reason he felt reluctant to part with the kid.
"Of course I do, she’s over there." Leah randomly pointed at a woman standing in the distance. She stared at this handsome man regretfully once more then turned to leave but suddenly paused.
Wait... could there be such a thing, where one person looked so much like another person?
She had purposely bumped into this man and called him Daddy so he could help get her away from so many people gathered there, but what if he truly was her Daddy?
She quickly turned back to him. "Daddy, can you tell me your name please?" There was a visible gleam of hope in her blue eyes. One that would automatically make one want to lay down their lives for the little girl’s happiness.
Again, that familiarity knocked into Tristan like a heavy boulder. The truth was...only one person had ever made him feel this way, only one person had brought such a strange softness in his heart even without doing anything.
Five years ago...
"You want to know my name?" He crouched down to the girl’s height and being up close, the little girl’s eyes seemed to widen with recognition as if she was confirming something in her little head.
She nodded eagerly and his lips lifted faintly showing a trace of amusement he rarely showed to others.
"My name is..."
